Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba complained the rental fees for Thalia Mara Hall were too low at his press conference last week. Hizzoner said the fees were "insufficient" and inexpensive" as he claimed someone could rent the hall for only $1,200.
The Mayor charged "companies were making hundreds of thousands of dollars while only paying $1,200 for rent per event." He said he would ask the City Council to increase the rental fees. Well, not so fast, my friend. A different story emerged at the City Council's budget hearings this week. WLBT reported:
“The main cost of our rental fee... is $1,500 but that’s a little misleading because there’s a number of additional costs that are associated with that. We have, of course, the percentage that we get from the tickets. We have a construction fund - three percent that’s built into those ticket sales,” he said. “So, it’s really mostly dependent upon ticket sales, how much we generate from each show.” “We’ve never made only $1,500 off anything.” Last week, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba told reporters that the facility cost $1,200 to rent out, an amount that was “woefully insufficient.”Rest of article.
Let's see: the state doesn't pay its water bills, we can't get an electrical panel because of supply chain problems, we are releasing the crime stats, JXN Water has a collection rate of only 52%, the zoo is over 200 acres, forum-shopping is when you look for the the right lawyer. Do you need more examples?

Might as well keep on lyin' - the feds continue to build their case.
Save yourself some time Kingfish and just tell me when he isn’t lying.
Pants on fire.
No other examples needed. He is a dumbass.
lumumbles strikes yet again.
Don't forget his lie about the FAA giving approval for Richard's Disposal to operate its garbage trucks out of Hawkins Field.

You forgot when he claimed there were several big name zoo operators who had (supposedly) reached out to express an interest in running the zoo.
Is there anyone, besides the extreme left who invite him to speak at conferences, take him seriously? Those people are delusional in their own context, but does any semi-normal person still take him seriously? There are several liberal attorneys in Jackson that contributed to his campaign and supported him. I wonder if they still do after pointing out all of this?
Let's not lose sight of his biggest lie of all ... when he said his proximity to Chokwe Sr. make him uniquely qualified to do the job on Day One.
Tell me what does Mayor Cheap Fake know about building a future city? Who is paying for this travel?
Why tell the truth when the majority of your city has an IQ of a coconut and will re-elect you no matter what you say?
And then there's the lie about having the most transparent administration in city history, after which he hid the EPA order to fix the water system that was failing badly.
12:41. Winner winner chicken dinner.
12:08, they do.
Nobody supported him thinking he was genuinely going to fix Jackson.
His supporters only exist to get some of the crumbs via contracts, special treatment and bribes.
He's too busy with his side hustle to dig into the details.

It's much easier just to spew BS.
Is this what get you up at night JJ
Lets give a little thought to the problem. The rent is $1200 and they cannot rent it out. Sure raising the rent sounds like a great answer.
Here's my prediction for the next lie from the bold, most radical city: "Broadway producers are lining up to bring Broadway plays to Thslia Maria.Hall." Direct from Broadway, no road shows, you understand.
Dude he’s not getting re-elected. Remember Yarber.
Lil Choke is bait for FBI now, please express your pity.
But it's only a perception of lying, right?
In other news, Chief Wade contradicted Prince Chowke this week by stating that Jackson has a gang problem. In other news, the Jackson website lists James Davis as the JPD chief. https://www.jacksonms.gov/contacts/james-e-davis-chief-of-police/
HaHa... yeah
Ted H. now says the collection rate is 65%.
What's the problem
Obviously, what he wants is higher ticket prices and inflated rental fees so there's a pass-through charge that he, alone, controls.
9:31, I think it's retaliation for calling out his buddy on the Smith-Wills contract.
@3:47 Aug 23rd: "Remember Yarber" is hopeful advice. Kim Wade is very votable and would be clever and entertaining at press conferences as our new Mayor. Plus KF knows him well enough to influence his politics towards conservative.

This article spurred me to discover where, exactly, "Broadway" is. My notion was that it was somewhere beyond the wrong side of 15 Central Park West. But I see that it's actually back behind our apartment on Central Park South - we can obliquely see bits of it, from a couple of windows. It's by Hell's Kitchen - only farther from the Hudson. No wonder so many actors live in converted warehouses back that way.
But anyway, this should give you an idea of precisely how many fucks New Yorkers give about "Broadway Shows".
(not that we're in town enough to be subject to New York taxes...)
11:59. Can you imagine the rats attracted to the garbage trucks that would eat the hell out of the aircraft wiring?
Are the group back from PR yet?
Would a very powerful federal agency do us a big one and indict him already?
