The city of Jackson issued the following statement.
“For weeks, we’ve known that our City Attorney was heading to a new position with the Federal Government. The administration was proud to offer it’s recommendation for Attorney Martin. It’s no surprise that her fights on behalf of the City of Jackson attracted the likes of Washington, D.C. Once her appointment was official last year, she spoke with us at length about her plans. It’s with a heavy heart that we accepted her resignation, because Attorney Martin has done incredible things for the City of Jackson. Through her leadership, we’ve seen the City Attorney’s Office settle more cases than ever before. Attorney Martin was instrumental in the negotiations surrounding our Water and Sewer systems. She’s also fought diligently to help resolve numerous issues within the city. We are grateful for her service and were honored to be a part of the process that led to this appointment. “
Kingfish note: Incredible? Maybe the next hire will know how to act in a courtroom. Better yet, maybe the new city attorney will know what a court room actually looks like. Martin was one of the most unprofessional attorneys seen in years from suffering crying fits at City Council meetings to getting chewed out repeatedly by a federal judge on her courtroom behavior. The administration just ran off a very capable deputy city attorney as well as James Anderson earlier this year. Of course, this is Jackson where incompetence is praised and competence is a threat.

“Attorney” Martin? Is that a real title? I don’t ever see this anywhere else… Attorney Schwartz…Attorney Morgan….Attorney anyone.
Which federal agency is hiring her?
Martin's hike presents good timing oppty for Council to hire their own attorney as they've discussed doing. She was a big zero.
"very capable deputy city attorney as well as James Anderson"
LOL.
She'll be an excellent fit within the Federal Government.
Incompetent, arrogant and stupid.
@12:39. Lawyer Tillman was for real. Played for Auburn in college and Cleveland in the pros (assuming Cleveland is considered professional).

"....was instrumental in the negotiations surrounding our Water and Sewer system" Wouldn't you like to hear what Henefin or Wingate are thinking.
she’s been appointed as a federal bankruptcy trustee
Looked it up:
A bankruptcy trustee is an administrator who is assigned to your case by the United States Trustee if you file for bankruptcy.
There are three main types of bankruptcy: Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13; the trustee's responsibilities depend on which type has been filed.
In Chapter 7, the trustee oversees the liquidation of assets and the paying back of creditors.
In Chapter 11, a trustee can help a business reorganize obligations, debts, and assets.
In Chapter 13, a trustee works with an individual who seeks to repay their debt over time on a payment plan.
Bankruptcy trustees evaluate and make recommendations about various debtor demands in accordance with the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. However, a bankruptcy judge has the ultimate authority on the distribution of assets. A bankruptcy trustee works with the bankruptcy court to take any action. The trustee cannot act without approval by the court.
"proud to offer it’s recommendation"
Maybe the city should start by hiring a proofreader.
She’s fortunate to get another job with the professional and reputational damage this job cost her. Must have been an out of state panel that hired her!
If she was appointed a trustee (assuming Henley's opening) in any form, she is not a federal appointee, nor a federal employee, and it is not lifetime appointment (though they are rarely removed). They are private attorneys. It is a good job though to get.
Interestingly enough, Martin seems oblivious to her awful reputation. Most folks in the legal community view her as a laughing stock.
All she had to do is bitch and moan to the Washington D.C. crowd about how she has been fighting the racist republicans in Mississippi to no avail and she gets offered a sympathy job, no sweat. They will believe it every time!
I wish Washington, D.C. would offer Lumumba a job next!
As usual, Lumumba, spin, spin, spin.........
I agree with 3:17. We knew the difference between its and it's in elementary school.
One of the worst city attorneys in Jackson Mississippi HISTORY, and the bar is not that high..
She is another reason the federal government is a joke and not to be trusted.
I’ve dealt with her personally.
Martin in incompetent in any setting.
I do not see how she’s qualified to be a trustee.
Very poorly written statement by the City.

Best comment of the entire blog.
Attorney Martin don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out!
Good riddance.
“ All she had to do is bitch and moan to the Washington D.C. crowd about how she has been fighting the racist republicans in Mississippi to no avail and she gets offered a sympathy job, no sweat. They will believe it every time!”
Newsflash: It’s very easy to do because everyone thinks y’all are mouth-breathing clods and no one has to lie about it when they are away from there. Lol a lot of yall are punchlines and don’t even realize it. SAD.
I’m with you on this kingfish!
Now she can work for Richard's full time.
