Need Garbage Relief?

Well, the Jackson garbage crisis will be dragging on for a few more days.  If, and I mean IF you need to get your garbage removed, an enterprising young man is offering his services.

Former JSU football player and current MBA student Justin Ragin operates T&C Movers, LLC.  He will provide garbage pick-up service once a week for $15.  You can message him on Nextdoor or at 901-286-0303 with your name and address.  He will come on Tuesday's starting at 10 AM.

Have the trash bagged as he is only removing garbage, not junk.  However, you can discuss junk removal service with him separately.

Kingfish note: Ain't capitalism beautiful?

Not approving comments on the garbage fight itself.  This post is just to help folks get some relief from this enterprising young man.  'Murica.

I like the way this guy thinks. He is seizing an opportunity. Best of luck, Justin - we need more people like you.

Good for him! Let's just hope the city does not find a reason to shut him down.

That right there is a future superstar in business

I love this, and may use him. He may get overwhelmed with requests.

I think all Jacksonians should be credited for sanitation services we’ve paid for and aren’t receiving!

This situation is mother fucking ridiculous.

Thank you, Justin. If he would create a go fund me, I would donate, and I live in Rankin County.

Baby Chuck-way should take some notes from this young man, make lemonade out of lemons.

Justin Ragin.....this my friends, is what "adulting" looks like, what leadership looks like.....many in Jackson should make it a point to take a lesson from this young man

And, the city of Jackson can not duplicate this service? I grew up in one of the larger delta towns. My town managed to provide garbage without going to New Orleans for worn out garbage trucks charging extremely high fees for providing a necessary service. The mayor I’d doing a good job except for
1. Garbage pick up.
2. Police protection.
3. Homeless population.
4. Streets you can’t drive on.
5. Drag racing on city streets.
6. Adequate police protection because very few “qualified” people want to work on the force
7. The HIGHEST murder rate in the country.
8. Decent subdivisions having to be gated. (The law abiding people are forced to line in walls similar to prison walls while the perpetrators roam the streets.
9. Try parking your car at athletic events and come back with windows broken and looted.
10. Just a suggestion since the mayor says there are people wanting to work, buy a few garbage trucks and put them on it. It must be cost effective or private companies wouldn’t be fighting to get contracts.
Other than these and a few other issues, I see no reason to move, except maybe the quickly depreciation of your in city properties.

Great job, young man. Good business head and trying to help others too.

Be careful, Justin. By upstaging this mayor, you make yourself a target.

Justin Ragin for mayor!!!

Would be so refreshing to have a mayor that works hard and solves problems!!

I’m sick of corrupt, panty-waisted Lying Lumumba who just sits on his ass whining and pointing fingers!

What a wonderful young man...he will go far in life with this attitude.

I think $10/weekly trip, up to four large bags, would get one of the lawn cutters in my neighborhood interested if they had ten or more nearby customers. I'm gonna ask.

They'd need to assure us the garbage would go to a legitimate dump, not onto vacant property.

Anonymous said...

I hope this guy gets some customers but I’m guessing Richards will do like they did before and just keep picking up the garbage in hopes of getting paid later and that it will somehow lock them in on another emergency deal. Why could this not happen again?

Love it!

Wonder if his truck will get a jpd escort like Richards did coming up 55 from New Orleans

First, after decades, Jackson would have to buy new garbage trucks.
Then they'd have to find licensed drivers, they'd need to hire management people.
Yes, some smaller towns can do this still as they didn't buy into "privatization" of government services if they maintained what they had in efficiently.
But, many of them, even smaller towns gave away their building and equipment as part of the first privatization. Now, even in our military ,we are at the mercy of private contractors who now can dictate costs to us. contract.
I understand your nostalgia, but we live in today's world and your notion of "turning back the clock" is no longer feasible or even a tiny bit practical.
One reason crime is now higher is that we all in small cities and town knew our neighbors. We knew who was crazy and who were violent drunks.
This is what happens when you know the "cost of everything but the value of nothing". It is also about not understanding how something works..It's why people buy cars without checking tires, or taking it to a mechanic or checking the vin number history on the car. Government systems are the same. We have 100's of years of history to tell us. We know what works and what doesn't but what doesn't can be a great opportunity for the unscrupulous. Actually, we've known about "too big to fail" monopolies since the grain crisis in 1300. We know what risks war brings as well. But, too many of us fall for the "pretty" words that fire our emotions every damn time.
And, it's so nice to have someone or group to blame other than ourselves.

Would be interested to hear of any other options available as well. There's the WM "Bagster" bag dumpster that you can buy for about $25 and then have picked up for about $200 more. Kinda pricey and don't want neighbors thinking it's a community dumpster. The Waste Pro USA website says they offer residential garbage collection in Jackson but I called and they don't. You can take the trash to the landfill yourself but they charge $5 per cubic yard. Does anyone know if they still have roll-off dumpster days? The former website for that service is "not found." Any other options?

Chowke will have him chased off by Richards' knee-cappers by claiming that he doesn't have the proper permits, which likely take 6-8 months to obtain.

Anonymous said...

Be sure to get receipts and turn them into the city for reimbursement when this all gets figured out.

I hope some equally enterprising young man will create a resale market for trashcans that residents wont be able to use when Nokia and LaBumbles gets their way.
I am in a well-run suburb but if any COJ resident has a new-ish can they want to sell, I would be interested in helping them. I mean, I would be pissed if I had recently purchased one that wont fit into the boy mayors tantrum. Er, I mean plan.

Get a burn barrel for your backyard.

How much do we withhold from our next bill for each day they miss?

Anonymous said...

I'd pay him a $100 if he would go throw it over the Mayor's fence.

Anonymous said...

@11:05 I'll see your $100.00, and raise you another $100.00.

Justin Ragin for Mayor!

That's one way to get mowed down by CCPD.

You need to verify where he takes it. If it is dumped illegally you can be charged if there are bills, letters, etc. with your name on them.

John McMinn said...

I heard about this on the Kim Wade show, WYAB, 103.9 FM, Flora, MS. I called and we are set up for trash pickup this week.

Officer Obie said...

"If it is dumped illegally you can be charged if there are bills, letters, etc. with your name on them."

Not only that but you'll have to pay for the investigation consisting of aerial photos and the 27 glossy black and white photos with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one, and Kid......

You'll have to rehabilitate yourself for littering.

What is the cost to dump at the Byram landfill?

I just got off the phone with Justin and texted him my name and address to sign up.

FYI - Justin's phone prefix really is 901 as KF published. I thought KF made a typo and dialed 601 first and the dude, not Justin, asked me why he was getting so many phone calls. I explained and we got a kick out of it. Again, the correct phone prefix for Justin IS 901.

Thinking this through, the city of Jackson collects the garbage collection fee in the water bill. The water bill in Jackson includes water, sewer, and garbage. Our esteemed water czar currently bears responsibility for collection of the water bill. However, his area of operational control is only the water, not the sewer or garbage. This seems to be a situation where things could get a whole lot more complicated real quick. Jackson may make national news again in the very near future with a complete breakdown of basic city services.

Maybe the mayor and city council will make very good decisions in the very near future. LOL, we know what is not going to happen. Jackson will not make good decisions to resolve this problem.

There is a bad storm rising.

That's not a prefix, bro. That's an area code.

Justin has picked up at one of my houses.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
