The Mississippi Department of Corrections issued the following statement.
In a renewed statewide crackdown of smuggling operations at Mississippi prisons, MDOC investigators this week arrested a corrections officer at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl. 32-year-old JASMESHIA KHARAE WILKINS of Mendenhall was apprehended at the prison and booked into Rankin County Detention Center on drug trafficking and other charges. She had been an officer at MDOC since November.
In Wilkins’ car on the grounds of CMCF, agents with the MDOC Criminal Investigation Division recovered several bags of suspected marijuana, edible gummies containing the drug THC, and three cell phones allegedly intended for inmates.
Wilkins was charged with one count of Possession of Controlled Substances with Intent to Distribute; one count of Introduction of Contraband into a Correctional facility; and one count of Conspiracy. Her bond was set at $142,500.

The "fox guarding the hen house" got caught...GOOD!!! Book her, Dano!!!
No 13th check in her future. I doubt that she was doing this alone. Sing, girl, sing.
It is hard to believe that after “5 months” of meritorious service at the Rankin County jail, a person would all of a sudden go bad! And, she also made it through the strenuous qualification testing to get a really good job like she had.

To be clear, this a state facility that is located in Rankin County.
Driving back and forth from Mendenhall every day on corrections officer pay? Well, it's not exactly shocking that something other than the paycheck made the job attractive.
They can make substantially more bring drugs in. Keep the pay low and wonder why this stuff happens.
Medical marijuana, move along…
Sadly, we taxpayers will now pay more to incarcerate her than she was paid.
@ 7:02, 'to be clear', what in the world is your point?
Isn't bringing in contraband on the job description for prison guard?

That this facility is not “the Rankin County jail”…Let me help you here. The Rankin County jail is operated by Rankin County, the CMCF, which is where this incident occurred is operated by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
