Jordan Cummins is going to pay a little price for his cellphone stunt at the Raymond Detention Center. The Hinds County Sheriff's Department charged Cummins with contraband in a penal institution.
Capitol Police arrested Cummins on March 24 and charged him with murder in the shooting deaths of Jubilee Simpkins and Josh Spann on Jefferson Street by Amite Street. Hinds County Court Judge Johnny McDaniels denied bond for the defendant.
Cummins somehow got his hands on a smartphone and posted a video on social media the next day. Earlier post with copy of video. Investigator Jeremy Jackson stated in an affidavit:
Investigator Jeremy Jackson makes affidavit based on information and belief that Jordan Kyle Cummins D.O.B. xxxxxxxx W/M on or about the 26th day of March, 2023, within the Judicial//District, County and State aforesaid did willfully, unlawfully and feloniously used an electronic device to record a video on Facebook Live at 1450 County Farm Road (Raymond Detention Center), in violation of Mississippi Code Section 47-5-193, against the peace and dignity of the State of Mississippi.Judge McDaniels denied bond for this charge.

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive ". Well, he actually wasn't deceiving anyone, at least I hope he didn't think he was.
Bwa, ha, ha. So sad.
Contraband in a county jail is an automatic 3 three year minimum with time to serve per statute. A guy in Scott County had a cell phone charger and got 10 years, upheld by the Supremes. The shooting “may” have a defense, but this guy is going to spend some time behind bars regardless.
Good, what what about all the other people posting from lockup?
You can't fix stupid.
He's a white boy from Rankin County. It doesn't matter what he did when he got to Raymond, it's common knowledge the other jailbirds have contraband. They'll keep him there. The DA is a Southern Poverty Lawyer. Owens will make it racial before he gets to court on murder charges.
The only reason charges were placed was due to how much coverage it got in the media and the fact that it is getting close to election time. Tyree and his people have never once charged any other inmates with contraband or similar charges even though many other similar situations have happened. Gotta act like a Sheriff when close to the election and that's about all the depth he has.
Yeah, wrong time and wrong place acting stupid.
But, I have to agree with the question, why not others. He the Trump of jailhouses. Need someone to make an example out of.
Sheriff you have to make examples out of inmates and staff that bring contraband into your assigned facilities. With no teeth in your growl gets little attention!
Now to the commenter’s, the Sheriff, can’t be a jailer, he is the Top Administrator. But he can hire competent people to oversee the Divisions.
Thank you Sheriff for what you do! You got to put eyes and ears in the Jail!!!
He was sending Mardis sexy pics on that phone
@ 4:21 Probably because he was celebrating murdering two people
@4:21 this is untrue! Go to 2nd Judicial District, many indictments have come down for contraband. Check the files as many as 50 indictments in the last few months alone for contraband and phones. Cummins isn't being treated any differently than any other inmate that gets caught with contraband
Not one post asking which jailhouse employee brought the contraband into the facility. If this (white) boy had been smart enough to have another inmate hold the electronic device, he would not have been charged with possession of it. Proximity doesn't count in a case of possession.
@7:57 AM - Wrong! Custody and control is the standard, not proximity.
Doesn't take very long behind bars to learn who will bring in a phone. What did it take this man, one day? Guards must have for sale signs in each cell.
@ 5:33 Bahahaha...
@5:33 - you made me laugh out loud in a restaurant when I read your comment…. 😂
Comment if the day award to you…. Lol
who is to say he wasn't 'tricked' by his roommate. #1-prank the new jailbird with time..or #2-keep your own phone if you are willing to rat on someone else...
either way, I really don't feel bad for him at all.

So...where are you seeing 'custody and control'. He had no idea it was being recorded and was not in custody of an electronic device - or so his testimony will be.
I'll buy you a ribeye if his prints are on the device. But nobody in this rube's comedy thought to take prints.
