Update (4:40 PM 4/30/2021): Audio of second shooting is posted below.
There was a shootout at 5114 Old Canton Road around 8 this evening. One gentleman suffered the indignity of being shot in the back. It can be reported his name is not Marshand. The shooting resulted from a domestic disturbance. The home is a rental. Unfortunately, that was not the end nor the only event on a horrific day.
A major brawl involving over a dozen people broke out around 3 PM. The 8 PM shooting occurred as it flared back up again. The police were called to the scene. The "victim" was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery. His status is unknown.
A blue Honda Accord drove by the home on Old Canton Road around 9:45. A passenger fired over two dozen rounds with a rifle at the house in an obvious case of retaliation.

Isn’t that near the park where all the hot older ladies play tennis?
what the hell does that mean? It's "not Marshand."
NE Jackson is being overrun. Heatherwood is surrounded by the decay. It’s a matter of time before all NE Jackson becomes trashed. And I’m saying this as a homeowner within a few minutes of where this shooting occurred.
@858 noob
Love the Heatherwood HOA reference. Clearly someone with their house on the market.
"what the hell does that mean? It's 'not Marshand.'"
That means it's someone else.

Tell your friends that moved to Madison to stop renting their houses to trash.
" I’m saying this as a homeowner within a few minutes of where this shooting occurred."
A few minutes from where ?
Rollingwood perhaps ?
"It’s a matter of time before all NE Jackson becomes trashed."
Serious question, have you been in a coma for the last 35 years ?
NE Jackson ... (as many remember it) ... disappeared decades ago.
lol You stupid liberals deserve all of the moral and social decay that you get!
Landroll says that house is owned by someone in Belgium.
"Perception of Crime."
I believe the argument began when one of the residents took, "the last mothaf***in' kool-aid pickle", from the jar.
Why do we have to beat around the bush Kingfish...? Everyone is so scared they will offend someone. I am sick of this "culture" and not scared to admit it.
" You stupid liberals deserve all of the moral and social decay that you get!" I was sitting here wondering what I should write, but you said it all.
NE Jackson will be fine once Baby Chowke's Real Time Crime Center kicks into action any decade now, right?
Y’all love to talk about the race and location of these things but no one wants to talk about how easy it is to get a gun in MS
Wow, that hits close to home
@8:31 It's not easier to get a gun in MS than most states. The death cult of urban thug culture is the problem. Places with equal levels of gun ownership but without participants in a broken culture have a fraction of the crime Jackson does.
10:26 - what's your beef with Rollingwood?
... but no one wants to talk about how easy it is to get a gun in MS.
How easy is it? Tell us. PUT UP.
The word is that the disagreement was over which nice Jackson restaurant they were going to spend their "stimulus" funds on that particular evening.
@8:31 I'm down to listen to your solution as soon as I'm told that the gun was legally owned by and registered to the offender.
An FYI for the ignorant that think gun laws are the problem. There will always be a market that the criminal element can use to purchase what they want. You can buy just about anything, if you have the money.
to 8:31.......if its so easy to ''get a gun'' in mississippi ,i suggest you go get yourself one . maybe then you won't end up as a crime statistic .
@8:31
Please tell us which new laws would prevent criminals from illegally getting guns?
The law only works for the law abiding. Criminals don’t care about the laws.
The easiest way to get a gun in Mississippi is to walk into a gun store and complete the ATF Form 4473 and get your Instant Background Check. Guess what criminals do? They get they baby mama to come in and do a straw purchase for them. It is a crime to do this. But just try to question them and they become apoplectic with accusations of racism.
@8:31 - it was just as easy (if not easier) to get guns 50 years ago - where were all the murders then?
"I'm down to listen to your solution as soon as I'm told that the gun was legally owned by and registered to the offender."
Tell us, what is this "registration?"
@8:31. And there it is. The criminals wouldn’t be criminals if it was harder to obtain a firearm. Does that sound familiar? Cities in the United States with the strictest gun laws have the highest gun violence. Chicago comes to mind and lots of others. One of the biggest democratic lies. Give us your guns and you’ll be safe! Nope. You want to stop violence in America then stomp the shit out of criminals. You shoot someone unless you’re protecting yourself you go to jail for life. No parole. The problem we have is liberals that think animals who truly need to be put to sleep should instead, be released back out onto the street to terrorize again. I’m afraid soon people will come to their senses and start taking the law into their own hands. It’s quite clear the justice system has failed us all.
Living in Jackson under Lumumba is like living in a Third World country.
How come I can't find anything about this on WLBT, WJTV, or WAPT's websites? Has the local media just given up reporting such things? Is it no longer news, just BAU in the most radical city on the planet?
The rent was $1700 a month.
It's across from apartments.
It hasn't been a desirable part of Old Canton for a long time.
That there has been resistance and no help from the judicial system or legislature in Mississippi to enforce building codes or property maintenance. This is particularly true for " absentee" landlords and owners.
Nor are there appropriate measures taken to protect residential neighborhoods from commercial encroachment by protective barriers around neighborhoods.
If you think this won't happen in the older Madison neighborhoods with homes that were spec built or under 2500 sq. ft. eventually you are delusional.
Yes, yes! Jackson Mississippi has gun violence because of easy access to guns.
Madison and Rankin counties have the same access to guns as Jackson but an order of magnitude fewer murders. Why?
Would Jackson become a crime free, homicide-free paradise like Chicago and Baltimore with their draconian gun laws?
How come I can't find anything about this on WLBT, WJTV, or WAPT's websites?
Access journalism and/or blind raging advocacy. They report too much on bad shit, Lumumba gives no access. Or, you believe Jackson has been ravaged by whites, white flight and white racists, you never report on anything bad that makes a black administration look inept and/or incompetent. In other words, you don't tell the truth.
You didn't hear a sound out of JPD about trying to track down the peeps who trashed that crab shack until the video found its way to nationwide media coverage and made Lumumba look bad.
Animals are gonna animal. Whether it be with a gun, knife, vehicle, doesn’t matter.
I have been recently looking at homes for sale in both Rankin and Madison counties. The residents of Jackson who can afford to move are doing so in large numbers, I saw this in many of the neighborhoods I drove through. Those areas are fine now but they are changing rapidly. Urban decay rots from the inside out. Jackson’s rot is spreading and nothing you can do to stop what’s coming.
I am now looking further away from Jackson.
"This is particularly true for " absentee" landlords and owners."
Regarding that spectacular drive-by a few nights ago - I'm sure that nice owner flies over from Belgium every month to collect his rent and to see if there is anything else he can do to make sure his tenants are thrilled to be living in that neighborhood ;-)
"It's too easy to get a gun" could easily be attributed to the fact that plenty of citizens have legal guns and simply are irresponsible -- leaving them unsecure in trucks and cars (and at home, too.) It's clearly the bad guys' fault - they're stealing, after all, but please, God, be RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS, people. An inexpensive gun safe for your car would prevent lots of gun thefts. Keeping your gun on your person would prevent the thefts. But a gun left in the console or glove box is more likely to supply a damn thug than ever protect the legal owner from anything! Then YOU have given your worst enemy a nice gun to help him in his next rampage.
That house was (is?) managed by Terramark Real Estate/Trey Guerieri.
You didn't hear a sound out of JPD about trying to track down the peeps who trashed that crab shack until the video found its way to nationwide media coverage and made Lumumba look bad.
Excuse me, but it made INTERnational news! The Daily Mail of London ran a story on it.
Don't think the JFP said a word, though. Go figure.
I expect a bigger outbreak of gun violence next week, because there is a Jackson gun show this weekend
The countless murders are the price we have to pay if we want guns in our country. There’s no point in debating the facts, we just must accept that many more deaths will occur and many of those lives lost will be completely innocent. We will never have any meaningful laws to address gun purchasing or ownership, so we must get used to the fact that any of us could be taken next. If you want to live in fear and carry a pistol strapped to your hip 24 hours a day, then at least keep the damn thing locked up, don’t carry it when you are drunk, and try not to do anything stupid that will get you or anyone else killed.
@1:08pm - if it’s strapped to my hip 24 hours a day, why do I need to lock it up? You don’t make no damn sense. I reckon cowboys, the military, and cops live in fear since they carry. It’s not about fear, it’s about when we’re inevitably faced with a threat by one of your cousins trying to deprive me or my family of property or life. I’d rather be the one making the decision and it not be left in the hands of the felon.
@1:08
You are drinking too much of the media kool-aid. Nothing will take guns from the hands of criminals. Despite having the most restrictive gun laws on the planet, the criminals in Japan have guns. The criminals in the EU an UK have guns. The only thing that new laws will accomplish is to restrict access to the law abiding.
What laws do you want? There is no such thing as a "gun show loophole" because no gun show is required for a person-to-person transfer. We have the right to lawfully manufacture our own guns in the USA. New laws wont stop criminals from manufacturing illegal guns. In the Philippines it is illegal to manufacture an unregistered gun. Filipino criminals manufacture thousands of illegal guns a year.
It is still illegal for a felon to possess a gun no matter how they got it. If they do not obey the current law that says they can't have a gun, then why would they obey new laws? The problem isn't the guns or the lack of laws. The problem is psychos with guns who do not obey the laws. Maybe we should make new laws banning psychos?
The audio from the video posted on ND says it all. Jackson is totally lawless.
I can assure you this wont spread north or east into Rankin and Madison counties. The reason is law enforcement, judges, and DA's that care and prosecute. It wont take but a few instances and the thugs will get the memo that the burbs are well fortified.
Wonder what will happen when one of the kids at JA catches a stray bullet. Only a matter of time.
1:08, we're not all as dumb as you sound. I've had guns in my home since '73 and never had a problem and no it's not locked up, it's where I can put my hand on in in about 2 seconds, otherwise that defeat its purpose ( Please wait Mr. Perpetrator ),I have to go in the other room and unlock my gun so it pleases all the stupid liberal nancy boys....
Ummm.... the burbs just had madison teens killing madison teens in Ridgeland
3:20, Not a thing will happen If JA kids get killed by a bullet. Just why do you think that matters in Jackson at this time in history? Do think a JA life is any different than the folks that are killed every day? Nope there is no one that is special at JA who can do a damn thing.
" 10:26 - what's your beef with Rollingwood? "
Very simple.
Rollingwood was once a very nice neighborhood. It's now almost a ghetto.
(Cars on blocks in front yards, trash all over the streets, overgrown lawns, drunk dudes still drinking in the front yard at 7:AM on Sunday morning).
@5:42 PM quit spreading fake news. They were Canton teens.
@5:42pm, actually it was Canton teens killing a Canton teen in Ridgeland.
Ok snowflakes, actually canton is in madison county, not fake and not news. Try reading context of a response
ie - 5;42 was responding to;

8:33 you apparently have not driven around Rollingwood in what sounds like ... ever. Rollingwood is a gated neighborhood with only a few homes on the market for close to $300k. Not your average Jackson dump. I encourage you to visit and see what a well taken care of, very much loved and a desirable place to live in Jackson looks like. You might not recognize it from your white brick Madison house less than 2 feet away from your neighbor’s bathroom window with only a young crepe middle between the two.
When does Jackson start making an effort to arrest and prosecute criminals?
Meanwhile, the official race-baiter, D Ladd hasnt said a PEEP about any of this she is too busy stirring the racial pot breaking down what part of town got the most tax dollars....GOOD LORD. You cant make this stuff up.
FYI...Old Canton is a road in NE Jackson, not Canton, MS. It’s technically Old Canton Mart Rd. And to the idiot who said it must be a homeowner selling a house, why would anyone selling their home want to trash talk the HOA? Don’t you think they want their home to sell considering it takes forever for homes to sell in the HOA. This is probably the same people who get scared at Halloween, and hide their children from the pagans of Saratoga.
