Update (1/18/20, 2:00 PM): The Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine issued the following statement:
The Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine (MCAM) is deeply saddened and shocked by the news of Dr. Neel Tipnis’ arrest. Dr. Tipnis has been relieved of his duties at MCAM effective immediately. A thorough and comprehensive background check was completed on Dr. Tipnis prior to his employment at MCAM. The safety of children, including their health and wellbeing, is of paramount concern to all leaders, physicians and employees at MCAM. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family during this time.
The Madison Police Department issued the following statement and mug shot.

Tragic for the family.. both families!
It’s a shame that we can’t wait for a conviction before the police put out a media release with a mugshot and one side of the story in cases like this. For the record, I have no idea of this guy’s character and he may be guilty as hell.
Madison is doomed.
The center for advanced medicine is a bunch of quacks that have a place behind the Kroger on 51. They should all be investigate and shut down.
It’s 2020. Use messenger apps that auto delete texts. This dudes an MD, he should be smarter than that
@7:52 AM, this involves a 14 yr old girl. I find your comments disappropriate
MCAM and Baptist hospital wiped this guy’s info from their websites and all social media. Guess they think he’s guilty.

Uh, wrong side of I-55, Sparky. If you're that ignorant of basic geography I don't think I'll pay much attention to your evaluation of the professional credentials of a group of well-regarded physicians who are providing an alternative to UMMC, the lowest-ranked academic medical center in the USA (#163 out of 163, the last time I checked).
I don't know this guy who left UMMC, went to UAB, then came to Madison. His wife still has a position (and is highly regarded) at UMMC. Serious allegations deserve thorough investigation, then, if convicted, severe punishment. It's always a shame for a victim and any innocent parties who get caught up in a scoundrel's activities. But, everyone deserves due process, not a lynch mob.
Uh, wrong side of I-55, Sparky.
Doesn't have a clue as to what he/she doesn't know.
Well said 10:09
@6:12 a.m. - arrests are public records. Every fool who ever watched TV knows of the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. What, exactly, are you complaining about?
10:09 am: my child receives outstanding care at UMMC. what does this have to do with UMMC if the man worked at MCAM?
@11:13 - sorry you couldn't follow my commenct, I will try to explain it so you can hopefuly understand. Presumption of innocence applies only to the judicial process, has nothing to do with a reputation in the community or financial harm to a professional or their business. If someone in the accused doctor's position was found not guilty, you can bet they will not be made whole again by those same media outlets or the police. There is almost nothing gained by trying to play out these cases in public before a trial occurs; it puts unnecessary pressure on the accusers and the accused. That's why many countries have laws that prevent names being published until a conviction occurs in these types of cases. In my opinion, that makes much more sense than ruining reputations of the presumed innocent.
11:16 He used to work at UMMC
And I have since learned his employer has a second office location on the other side of I-55. The original office site is still open as well. Mea culpa, etc.
To those squawking about his identity being revealed “prematurely”:
If you’d take the time to actually READ the press release from MPD, you’d see it’s apparent the police were thorough and careful with their investigation. This is obviously much more than a text exchange and a verbal accusation from a kid. READ people!!!
If he didn’t want his reputation tarnished, he shouldn’t have taken this path. He caused/allowed this to happen.
Seems 2:08 has already determined he’s guilty. Glad we can save the cost of a trial and all that other pesky due process stuff.
Sounds like 'the cartel' has lelegated out posting assignments. Maybe, like that hotel magnate up in the Delta who was stealing airport luggage...Charges will just be dropped when enough cash is dropped.
@2:18 I don’t think charges will be dropped for a felony case of sexual assault on a minor.
If convicted he’ll do time at Parchman. He should never be allowed to practice medicine again and he’ll be on the sex offender registry for life. No way was this an isolated incident. I’d be worried if my kids were ever his patients or had ever been around him in Reunion or at St Andrew’s school or anywhere else he spent time. He certainly deserves a fair trial but it seems like they have electronic evidence based on the memo from the Madison PD - who should be commended for acting so quickly.
Madison handles their business. This guy and that teacher/swim coach. When there is evidence, and I think they have electronic proof in both of these cases, the book gets thrown at you. It should.
Thank you, Madison PD, for protecting children.
