Down the street from the bus hub at the old Coca-Cola plant on Highway 80:
The city sold the bus recently. No idea why it was sitting at the old plant.

Holy shit
routine maintenance. no actually, that's probably the bone pile to keep the others running.
So is this a stolen bus being stripped for parts?
That photo summarizes the current plight of Jackson about as well as it can be done.
That bus sold at auction back in April. Why its there being stripped is a good question, but it's not a JATRAN issue. Proof: https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.Item&itemid=21&acctid=3736
Isn't that how most of the buses in Jackson look? I see as many sitting on the side of the road as I do running.
There was a JATRAN bus with the markings removed sitting on the side of I-20 near the airport exit in Rankin about a month ago. It sat there for about a week. One day I passed it moved a little further east.
It was hooked to a tow truck and it appeared that the tow truck broke down. A few days later they were both gone. I wonder if this is the same bus.
I assume it was purchased the property auction that the city help a while back and it never made it to the destination.
That's a very sad picture......
Hey Kenny Stokes ... there is a bus available you can use without having to stiff the bus owner for its usage.
@12:22 PM - Doesn't Stokes require a double-wide bus?
Is it possible the purchaser of the bus at auction is just parting out the bus? Seems like this could be fake news to me.
Not a far piece from the scrap metal place over there.
10:17, 10:20, and 10:40 - why don't yall try reading the article before you show your ignorance through stupid comments?
This bus did not belong to the city. It was not being salvaged for parts for other city buses - because it didn't belong to the city. It does not represent the rest of Jackson - because it didn't belong to the city.
Read the damn post. The city sold it months ago. It was owned by a private individual.
KF - did you check to see if this was a normal salvage operation being conducted by the new owner before posting this pic, or did you just post something to try to increase hits on the site? If no background questions, let me suggest this is possibly a prime example of "fake news".
Sure 1:56, anything is possible. BUT your comment was only left to cast doubt regarding KF's selection of content.

Does KF report to you? Do you own JJ? Worry about your own endeavors.
I've never seen over 2 or 3 people on a bus at any given time. Most often it's one or no-one at all while the driver sits at a stop.
Who owns the land?
Either a former NASCAR Crew was involved, or Jackson really is way short on patrol units. Too much work involved for an insurance scam!
I have noticed several attempts at getting that bus running. Mechanics on site etc since it showed up at the coke plant several weeks ago. My guess is the buyer just gave up and abandoned it.
