Mason-Dixon Poll: Hood Leads Reeves

A Mason-Dixon poll states Attorney General Jim Hood leads Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves 44% to 42% with 14% undecided.  The poll was conducted last week among 625 Mississippi registered voters.  The margin of error was +/- 4%.

The poll also included Retired Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller, Jr. but as an independent candidate.  It said Hood drew 40% of the vote, Reeves drew 38%, and Waller drew 9% (KF note: the poll would have been better served if Waller was polled against each candidate in a primary contest.).

Mason-Dixon also polled 400 likely Republican voters on the two Republican primaries for Governor and Attorney General. The Lieutenant Governor crushed State Representative Robert Foster 62%-9% with 29% undecided.  Treasurer Lynn Fitch garnered more than double the support for State Representative Marcus Baker, 45%-17%.  However, the undecided vote was 38%.

Demographics

GOP: 47%
Democrat: 35%

White: 63%
Black: 33%

Male: 47%
Female: 53%

No matter who wins, Mississippi will always be last.

Who paid for it, and 400 respondents hardly represents a representative sample.

REALLY BAD news for Hood.

And @6:07 will always be a Harpy who only accentuates the negative.

Here comes Tater's Social Media Response Troll Team with those pre-planned responses.

6:59, the 400 was only Republicans. Read the report! The total sample was 625, which is actually a few more than statistically required to get a 4% margin of error and 95% confidence level for the entire 2 million population (not just registered voters) of Mississippi.

To paraphrase Gen. Patton, if I found myself between Mr. Potato Head and Conway Twitty, I'd attack in both directions.

Neither one is worth a tinker's cuss.

6:07 is right we would be better off with the "Truck Driver.

Inquiring minds would like to know where "None of the Above" ranked?

Tate, you're just unlikeable, I'm sorry bud...

Those Russians are at it again!!

This is all well and good until Jim has to answer a BUNCH of questions about where he stands on his party's pet issues. He either is a Dem socialist or he's not...it will soon be time to show and tell.

Anonymous said...

Unless Reeves makes an unforced error it will be Gov Tate Reeves.

Attn 8:21 Who is the Truck Driver?

Tate is unlikable. However, for Hood to be elected, he is going to have to make some monetary deals with the Left outside of Mississippi. If you haven't noticed, the Democrat Party has moved way left in the last two years. The vast majority of Democrat voters now prefer socialism to capitalism.

If Hood did not have to hitch is wagon to the national Democrat Party, then I would say he would have a chance to be a good governor. Unfortunately, for him to get the finances he needs to win, those deals will be made.

Ask Louisiana how electing a "moderate" democrat has worked out for them. John Bell Edwards has been a disaster by any measure. Louisiana is one of three states to propose full term abortion bills - and you can bet if it were to make it through their legislature (it will not), he would sign it. Louisiana now holds the 50 spot in health and education since he was sworn in to office.

So, it Tate a great candidate for Governor? No. Has he made many enemies along the way? Yes. However, this nation is sliding very left, very quickly. There is no such thing as a moderate democrat anymore in national politics, and that is putting downward pressure on state and local politicians due to campaign finance needs.

8:53, ever heard of the $2M private road, I mean public road, for Tater's ritzy neighborhood that MDOT questioned and eventually tabled? If not, get ready.

Mr. Potato Head better pray he bleached his server for any and all emails like Hillary did.

However, this nation is sliding very left, very quickly.

The nation? Nope.

8:57 check your facts John Bell is very much pro life. People are very happy with him, they remember the mess Jindal left, it was just as bad as what Obama inherited from Bush. Kansas figured out too by electing a Democrat Laura Kelly to clean up the mess left by Colyer and Brownback. Maybe Mississippians will vote with their best interest in mind.

Anonymous said...

9:13, I was about to say. Anyone who thinks Tate's neighborhood is ritzy has either never been to Tate's neighborhood or doesn't have a good definition for ritzy.

@9:01

If you think a stinking 2 mil dollar road is more important to the people of this state than late term abortion, open borders, sanctuary cities, the second amendment, socialized medicine, JOBS etc etc etc etc we can close nominations for 2019 Darwin awards now....you win !

To finally have balance in the the state of Mississippi government would be the best thing that could happen. As long as Mississippi labors under one party government the only real imperative of government is to maintain the status quo. That would be fine if Mississippi were #10 or maybe even #30, but Mississippi is a solid #50. Mississippi governors do not have enough real power to make any significant shift in the state's balance of power without the help of the legislature, so those fearmongers who act as if Nancy Pelosi would take over Mississippi are full of B.S. But the check and balance created by a Democrat in the governor's mansion would at least enable a larger segment of the state's population, presently going to waste, to put new ideas on the table. Mississippi needs to have all hands on deck if it is to enter the 21st century. Going back to the 19th century just hasn't worked.

Anonymous said...

@9:49

Please give us an example of the "new ideas" we may anticipate from a Democratic governor that would save all these folks "going to waste" that doesn't include throwing more money down at the same tired programs that have have failed so miserably in the past.

Anonymous said...

9:41 You really think Hood could do all that? He's the only Democrat holding statewide office and you think he can turn this into San Francisco. How do you sleep at night?

Cousin Eddie said...

I would really like to see the Honorable Bill Waller Jr. throw his hat into the ring. He is a good man with strong family ties. Maybe he will make a decision before to long. He is a forward thinker. He almost single handedly got the Electronic Court Record System in place in Mississippi. This didn't cost the state anything, since, the state was given the software free from the Federal Government.
I don't know Tater Tot or Jimbo Hood, however, under Hood who tried to get spam calling under control this was a dismal failure because I personally get 30+ spam calls on my landline & cell phone each day.
GO Bill! Make Mississippi Great Again! (MMGA)

Blacks need to vote Republican. What have they got to lose?

I do believe all houses in Oakridge all exceed 500K - That should qualify as ritzy in Mississippi.

Anonymous said...

@9:49

Why dosen't Mr. Hood simply distance himself from Nancy Pelosi and run as an independent if being associated with her party causes problems for him ?

Anonymous said...

@10:25

Of course not but certainly not going to vote for someone who aligns himself with a party whose basic ideologies are 180 degrees the opposite of my own. Why in the world would anyone do that ?

Anonymous said...

Really what do they have gain.

Anonymous said...

9:49 If you're speaking of failed programs from the federal government, what does the Mississippi governor have to do with that? If you speak of failed Mississippi programs, they surely had to come through your Republican legislature (or the Democrat legislature before they all switched parties.) Who knows what solutions or "ideas" might come from people who have not been involved in the past. The point is that none of them can be funded or implemented without the approval of the Republican legislature, but at least we'll have two heads thinking about solutions instead of one. Ever hear the ole saying two heads is better than one. Maybe not in your case... Sorry.

Anonymous said...

@10:53

Employment, independence from the government, self respect perhaps ?

Anonymous said...

Jim Hood has been attorney general for quite a few years now. He's always been a Democrat. It's a very important office. How has Nancy Pelosi and the national Democratic machine controlled him and run his office? Have they been controlling him? Just asking.

Anonymous said...

@12:36

Exactly, Hood will be dependent on the Dem party, it's members and pacs to finance his campaign....Oh but that does not mean he'll be beholding to them and their party's ideologies. For real ??????

Anonymous said...

Hood gives millions and millions of work to left wing Dem lawyers. The man is not a good person.

Sure will be fun when that whack job from the Bronx decides to weigh-in on our election down here. Good Lordy what are you going to do then Jimbo?

Anonymous said...

So republicans what have your Leaders done for us? In Washington the biggest disappointment is that republicans fight Trump as hard as democrats. If he had support they could have approved the wLl before the recent elections but no they did nothing. Also what has most Mississippi republican leaders done for us. Phil says HE created jobs but I think the owners of the companies created the jobs. What has Tate Reeves done for us?If you are not a Tater then you can’t nane any. If we keep voting and not get results then we need a. New tactic and vote for someone else which may be a Democrat

Anonymous said...

@6:11

What they've done up to now is totally irrelevant compared to their mission going forward. The Democratic party has morphed into something most of us never dreamed we would see on American soil. From their gleefully applauding infanticide to their openly embracing socialism to their promoting the destruction of our country's borders and sovereignty to their burning desire to disarm us they must be defeated one way or the other. We'll deal with the Republicans fighting Trump then we'll all deal with the America hating Democratic socialist party.

Democrat, Dummkopf, Disaster. Think it is bad now, elect a Donkey.

I’d vote for Waller.

Anonymous said...

1250....so Tate won’t owe favors to donors?

Anonymous said...

@8:32

Well duh. Hell yes he'll owe his donors. The difference will be Tate will owe American capitalist and Hood will owe America hating socialist. I come from a long line of flag waving America loving capitalist. You ?

When you consider the fact that Tate will make room for folks like Trey Baxter, who has no resume, Hood, sadly is looking better and better. Wait...Sam Hall. Dang!

Tate Reeves has said privately he intends to remove the med school from Ole Miss. Hood will get more local financial support than people think. Some of the richest people in the state despise Tate.

It Ain't About Hairdos and Fat Cheeks said...

It's not simply a matter of which personality we would, individually, prefer to see in the mansion.

Consider that whoever wins will import a large group of partisan staff members, put party loyalists in charge of agencies and departments, hire and promote a hundred people you and I don't like and control thousands of jobs and appointments for eight years.

The power of the position is, in itself, rather benign; however, the political spoils are huge. Do you want Jim Hood (D) filling all those positions and appointments or do you want a Republican doing it?

Anonymous said...

Bloggers from both sides pathetically generalize about Republicans and Democrats as if everyone in each party thinks and believes the same. That, of course, is not true. But it does take some intelligence to understand and acknowledge the differences. But thinking would cut into blogging time, so I guess that is out of the question. Spare us the drivel.

Anonymous said...

I am going to vote for Tate Reeves because he is not going to use the Frontier Strategies gang to run his campaign. Can Jim Hood say who is running his show? I already have my suspicions. No Hood,No Frontier Strategies running around the state selling access.Simple

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
