Some people think Mardi Gras is bad now, check out this headline from 89 years ago when six people were killed.
A little bit more tame now.

Our former Clarion Ledger editorial cartoonist has a good play on this topic today: Arlo on Mardi Gras
I wonder if the ladies lifted their tops for beads 89 years ago?
Mardi Gras can be a lot of fun. 89 years ago the ladies probably had to be very loaded to flash in mixed company. Speaking of mixed company, funny to see that cross-dressers abounded then in the Quarter, just like today.
High school student could have come up with a better acronym than URF.
I just saw a segment on channel 3 about the mayor of New Orleans celebrating with several members of the Zulu Queen's entourage and they were in Black Face. Sure is funny they can complain about Confederate Statues but allow white people to celebrate the Zulu Queen in Black face..... hypocrisy at its finest.
You are so rigjht, 5:21! Touchy touchy snivelly ranty are those complainers...and yes, hypocritical.
The other stories are even more fascinating.
Believe the aircraft carrier discussed was the USS Ranger CV4. The first ship designed and built as an aircraft carrier by the USN.
