Giles Bryant killer dies

The Mississippi Department of Corrections issued the following press release.

MAN CONVICTED IN HIGH PROFILE 1994 JACKSON SLAYING DIES IN PRISON
JACKSON – Inmate Robert Lindsey Jr., one of four persons convicted in the 1994 murder of a state assistant attorney general, has died in prison.
Lindsey, 40, died today, Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at 7:50 a.m. at the hospital at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.
A cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy. No foul play is suspected.
Lindsey, MDOC #R0862, was serving life for the slaying of then-Assistant Attorney General Giles Bryant, who was fatally shot during a robbery in Jackson on May 14, 1994.
Lindsey, convicted of homicide/murder, was sentenced on May 31, 1997, at the age of 20 in Hinds County.

Note: One of his accomplices, Jason Lomax, somehow was sprung from prison and was killed committing a crime.   WLBT reported in 2010:

Jason Lomax was shot and killed Monday morning after trying to pass a bad check at a bank, but he was no stranger to crime, or law enforcement officials in the metro area.

Lomax's criminal history started at a young age with a high profile case... the murder of former Assistant Attorney General Giles Bryant.  Lomax was sentenced to prison for that crime, but many wonder what he is doing out of jail today.

Jason Lomax was only 13 years old in 1994, when he was arrested for murder.   The victim, Assistant Attorney General Giles Bryant, was a close personal friend of then Attorney General Mike Moore.

Mike Moore says, "I'll never forget when I went down to the jail to see who actually killed Giles. I was presented with a 13 year old kid who looked like he was about eight years old and he was told you just killed a good friend of his an Assistant Attorney General. 'What do you say about that,' and he just kind of looked at me with some steel and cold eyes and just like his attitude was big deal."

Jason Lomax was convicted of that crime in 1997 when he pled to a lesser charge of manslaughter. He was sentenced to twenty years in prison with five years suspended and three years probation.

Moore says, "Today when I heard about it, the first question I had was, what was he doing out of jail?"

On top of that, Jackson police say they recently arrested Lomax.

Robert Graham says, "On September 14th he was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine."
Moore says, "If he was on parole and got arrested for cocaine, they should have revoked his parole."

Moore says Lomax had been arrested numerous times by police before 1994. His demise mirrored by the life of crime he had chosen, and one some predicted early on.

"I knew then that this young man was going to be trouble for a very long time," Moore said. "He was on his way to having something very tragic happen to him and I guess today it did."

WLBT attempted to contact the department of corrections to ask why Jason Lomax was out of jail. Our calls were never returned.

He checked out of Parchman and checked into hell. No need to pack a jacket.

Hope the POS is rotting in hell. Pursued him and a buddy for auto theft about 6 weeks before the murder but lost them in Presidential Hills. That bothers me now and again still.

I remember the day I learned of Giles's murder. I remember the sense of horror and frustration I felt that such a fine man and husband and father had been been so coldly and cruelly murdered. My wife worked with him. It was so cruel and horrible. May Giles go from strength to strength in Christ our Lord.

I didn't know who he was or what YANA was....I learned a lot that day....and what we lost.

Thing is...the area is 1000% more commercial now....and crime is way up.

Just yesterday 4 15 year olds mugged some people walking their dogs.....JPD caught them but damn.

Repeat after me, just so it won't go unnoticed:

"WLBT attempted to contact the department of corrections to ask why Jason Lomax was out of jail. Our calls were never returned."

Who was the Head-Dog at DOC then and who was his staff spokesperson?

Hopefully Mr. Bryant's family can finally have some peace.

Lomax was a devious little midget that knew how to manipulate people. I saw him up close for a few years. He would play on the sympathy of female guards that looked at him like a little crying baby. No sooner than they would turn their back he would be in a fight beating the heck out of another inmate twice his size. I wondered what ever happened to him. I guess he graduated from unit C4 to hell.

Lomax and Lindsey held myself and 3 friends at gunpoint the night before they killed Mr. Bryant. After taking our money and fleeing, we followed behind them in our car, and proceeded to call JPD on our bag phone. We provided a full description of the vehicle along with their tag number, along with the news that we were actively following the perpetrator's vehicle. JPD never attempted to send anyone to pick up on the chase, so we quit following them. The next night Mr. Bryant was murdered by them. Had JPD pursued our lead Mr. Bryant could still be alive to today.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
