Madison Police arrest shooter.

The Madison Police department issued the following press release:

The Madison Police Department announces the arrest of Scott Andrew Earnhart, age 44.  He is charged with Shooting Into a Dwelling relating to a December 18, 2014 incident on Sheryl Drive in the City of Madison, MS.  Investigators with the Madison Police Department began looking into the incident when the homeowner reported that their home had been shot at the night prior and some of the rounds had actually entered the residence.  The home on Sheryl Drive was occupied at the time of the incident; however, nobody was injured.  Investigators were able to locate Scott Andrew Earnhart at his residence in Madison and take him into custody without incident.  A search warrant was executed at his home and the weapon used in the incident was recovered.  Scott Earnhart made his initial appearance on December 19, 2014 before Municipal Judge Dale Danks.  His bond was set at one million dollars and he is currently being held in the Madison County Detention Center.

In an unrelated matter, the Madison Police Department has arrested three juveniles wanted in connection with a rash of auto burglaries.  The juveniles were going into unlocked vehicles in various subdivisions in the City of Madison.  Investigators have recovered numerous items taken from the vehicles to include two firearms.  The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.  Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact the Madison Police Department at 601-856-6111.

As they often do, Madison PD doesn't release information when it happens or in a timely manner but when they have everything already wrapped up. This shooting happened four days ago, he was arraigned last Friday, and then on Monday Madison gets around to releasing the info. This city is hung up on managing its image at the cost of keeping people informed. Madison has to do better. When crime happens, report it, send out press releases, don't hide it until you are ready to manage it or release it. Report news, don't try to manage it.

Surely, the town is Jackson or Canton. Shootings and breaking into cars don't happen in Madison the City. It's almost like as the population grows that the crime is on the rise. I would have never thought that!

Permission To Speak? said...

The mayor of Madison will not allow the police chief to make timely announcements as suggested above. She not only tells the alderpersons how and what to think and when and where to speak, she tells the chief of police how to run his department on a daily basis.

Does anyone know if this was just some random idiocy, or did this guy actually know these people?

$1 mil bail. I wonder if Dale is trying to make his bail decision on Mark Mayfield look more reasonable in comparison. Won't work Dale.

You're ignorant. He gave out million dollar bonds to the Cypress Lake robbers and that was at the same time Kelly was arrested.

Queen Mary makes North Korea's leader look like a push-over. She tells those that work for her, around her, or even those that don't work for her when to breathe, when to burp, & if they can fart. She's a tyrant that gets her nose in everyone's business. She calls employees of the city at all hours of the night (disturbing them & their innocent families). She is a tyrant & has no redeemable leadership qualities. I know many who work for her or who once worked for her. The message is the same-she's a phony person who doesn't care about others, just herself.

Not sure if you know the Honorable Mayor, I do. I will say your assessment is off base. The Mayor, in the limited time I've spent with her, was focused on taking calls throughout the time we spent together focused on her constituency. Your sanctimonious acrimony is obviously driven by someone who doesn't serve the greater good - look in the mirror.

You might sign up to volunteer some day to relieve her of her constant attention to Civil Service I observed.

Cut Mary a break. She's having to deal with Hoy Road traffic being backed up because some rich kids over the top tacky Christmas display.

As an official of distant Mississippi town I will tell you that Mary is widely respected throughout the state for the manner in which she has managed the growth of Madison. As evidenced by some of the posts on this blog she has undoubtedly stepped on some toes when they needed it . She is a strong decisive leader and that is why she is so respected.

I live here and have for many years. We respect the job the mayor has done and support most of what Madison is and the rules we have. Several rules she pushed through are pure idiocy (no parking off your driveway for example).

The good Captain is full of shit, as is often the case. It's not a matter of like it or lump it. We are free in this country to have and express opinions without being told to get the hell out of Dodge if we don't like Dodge's rules.

Although the mayor has 'built' a nice city, the poster at 9:47 is accurate in his comments.

PS: Danks is well known for million dollar bails. It goes back, in my memory, to a guy who wielded a gun at McDonald's about five years ago. It's standard. It's also standard that everybody steps to Mary's fetchit.

Hey 6:43 you know not what you speak of. I happen to work for the city and the mayor has never told me how to do my job. We speak quite often and discuss things that are for the betterment of Madison. Sometimes we agree and sometimes we don't but when we don't she does not tell me to do it her way. She is by far the best boss I have ever had.

All you Mayor Mary bashers can go back home to your little crappy houses in Fondren and pray that some thug won't steal your car in the night. Neighbors in my Madison subdivision are out jogging at 3 AM. Try that in Jackson. Most of my neighbors are black and escaped the Jackson open toilet. We get along here thanks to our Mayor. As I recall, she won in a landslide in the last election.

I lived in Madison and now live in Ridgeland. No comparison in the two mayors. Mary is by far the better. My home in Ridgeland was broken into and it took the Madison police to make the arrest. If you are not a cyclist the Mayor of Ridgeland does not care.

Love Madison and have voted for the Mayor in every election and will continue to do so. Safety, Property value and quality of living, what else can you ask for in city government.

I always picture the Jets and the Sharks ala West Side Story when the which-county-sucks-more debate inevitably ensues.

Angry hipsters and trust fund babies in a dance off with Yarber and Mary locked in a forbidden embrace.

You know, all you Jackson bashers could try not being so "bathroom humor" about your anger at Jackson. I personally do not find you amusing nor very well spoken. Why don't you try uplifting your own area without trying to tear down another. That would be the more Christmas-like writing. I wish Madison well and I wish Jackson well and I hope all of Central Mississippi continues to prosper in 2015
Merry Christmas!

The great town of Bolton also had a rash of people breaking into unlocked cars the other night. Perps stole all kinds of stuff. Those who had doors locked did not suffer said victimization. Lesson of the week: lock your car doors. Even though it just an unrelated matter from the headline it was a great report on jackassery.

5:19 MPD isn't a news reporting organization. Law enforcement agencies do not generally generate press releases while investigating a matter; there are exceptions such as when they are trying to get the public to supply leads, etc. If you want instant news, buy a scanner...

"

Sorry snowflake, I was annexed and am forced to pay taxes to Madison, the City. In our gated subdivision we pay over $1000 per year to the HOA to supply guards to find out who is entering and leaving our neighborhood when residents are not home. The City of Madison recently threatened to arrest our guards and told them they were not allowed to stop anyone coming into the guardhouse not allowed to record license plates. This threat was sent in writing to the President of our HOA from one of Mary's minions who passed it on to all of us.

9:47 I've met her - you're right.

"The Mayor runs a tight ship. If you like it, live there. If not, paddle on down the Pearl."

I used to live outside Madison until she annexed us to force us to pay an additional $1000 per year in taxes. Who is going to reimburse us for the loss if we sell to move "down the Pearl"?

"She is a strong decisive leader and that is why she is so respected."

You're probably too dense to realize that what you said also applied to Mussolini, who did indeed make the trains run on time.

Big amen for 9:54.

9:05, just curious, but which neighborhood do you live in?

Anonymous said...

Just curious 12:26, who maintains your streets, your HOA or the city?

Anonymous said...

Where is that fat ass Micha Goober who always chimes in about Madison. He has been quiet lately. Goober where are you!

Anonymous said...

12:26, did you find out who maintains your streets yet?

Anonymous said...

12:26 Streets used to be maintained by the HOA, then the city after the annexation. After digging up the street three times in front of my house the city still can't prevent flooding after a heavy rain.

Anonymous said...

Did the heavy rains only come after the annexation? You should be careful, the mayor may bring in locusts and frogs next if you don't fall in line.

But, back to the previous issue, did the fact that the HOA had private security stopping people on public streets have anything to do with the city getting involved?

Anonymous said...

They were previously private roads maintained by those of us in the HOA who deliberately chose to live outside the Madison city limits.

Then we got annexed.

We are no longer allowed to even photograph the license plates of cars entering the neighborhood, which would be useful information in the event of a burglary. More civilized places understand the concept of "Neighborhood Watch".

The rains have not changed in 15 years. When they tried to upgrade the streets they replaced the curb in front of my house 3 times because it kept flooding. They also knocked over my mailbox and destroyed the end of my driveway. I have no idea how the contract was let out by the city of Madison, or to whom it was awarded. Speculate all you want.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
