It looks like we will have a hearing in federal court this week after all regarding the True the Vote lawsuit against the Secretary of State AND the Republican Party of Mississippi. PACER states:
Set/Reset Hearings: Evidentiary Hearing set for 7/24/2014 09:00 AM before Judge Nancy F Atlas (Atlas, Nancy)This should be fun.

From what I am hearing this no the only hearing Chris will be getting.
my guess is this is the plaintiff's opportunity to prove a need for a TRO. maybe the time to put up or shut up has come. Will Chrissie appear or testify about the 40,000 strong horde of lawless democratic black americans?
Yes, hopefully the other hearing Chris will get will be for his potential liability under the MS Litigation Liability Act.
Sorry Kingfish. I know this breaks your heart and dashes your dreams. If McDaniel would toss a few coins into your advertising pool, you'd perhaps change your tune and give him an equal shot at justice instead of constantly belittling his efforts to exercise his constitutional rights.
Looks as if justice is about to prevail, 6:20. I know it's tough for you and Haley's boys to swallow.
Care to show an example? I've said he has every right to review and file challenges.
Oh, that's right. If I don't jump and down waving pompoms at 200% for the team, I'm the enemy. Got it Mr tojo.
Kingfish---I don't think u really grasp just HOW pissed people are---they have NO AXE to grind w Thad---they are LIVID at the BS, corrupt system and machine that put us in this situation---
Justice will certainly prevail in this case, I only hope that it will include nice sanctions to encourage our friends at Sue the Vote to take the law more seriously.
They're not even suing the right people. At best they're hoping to get out without paying up; let's hope the judge sees it for what we all do and makes this real nice and clear for them.
7:34. You are pissed why? Because Thad reached out to black voter and ruined your guy's day? TS (Tell Superman).
"His Judgement Cometh and that Right Soon..." From the neeedlepoint framed on the warden's wall in Shawshank Redeption.
No one is as wise, as pure, as Christian as Dear Leader Chris. You are not a true conservative. Chris's volunteers are collecting lists for the purge, that he calls for. "We know who are adversaries are". Crazy as an outhouse rat they are. Son, when your precious Tea Party flag is associated with it being draped over assassinated cops in Nevada and your boy's donors include a lawyer for Sam Bowers, KKK, you might want to assess which side of sanity you are standing on. The average Mississippian has seen thru the layers of BS emanating from McDaniel. Maybe preaching that you are holier than thou is not a great strategy. 2.8 million Mississippians are NOT clamoring for Chris. Or the Truth and Justice carnival.
You Haley lapdogs would do better to spend your time lamenting the demise of the MSGOP than in taking cheap shots at everyone who disagrees with you. You have managed to piss off even the more moderate McDaniel supporters to the point that we are not going to support Thad in November. Boss Hawg Haley may win the battle but the MSGOP is going to lose the war.
How's that Kenny Rogers song go again ?
$15 1/3 McDenial supporters in here are from out of state.
Coincidentally, that's also the amount of money not paid as "walking around money". OOOOOOHHHHHHHH
I will suggest that a number of Mississippians realized (with or without the help of GOTV) that it was in their best interests to vote against McDaniel in the runoff. (Sorry, Mississippi law doesn't recognize Democratic voters or Republican voters - just merely voters - but no crossovers). So please explain what was illegal?
Now if there was deliberate disregard to stopping crossover or vote-buying-yes, I'll stand with the challenge. But as yet, all we have it hot air.
If Chris McDaniel somehow pulls this stunt off, Travis Childers will be our next senator. Thad's supporters would never vote for McDaniel, even against a democrat.
McDaniel is bitching about election laws in Ms. Isn't he on some election committee in the Legislature? Sounds to me like he wants to change the law to suit his needs without due process. Wa Wa Wa Wa
We are coming for you oh country club republican. You who bought the election with fried chicken. Soon you will be purged from the good book. We will roam the country side looking for those without the mark and you will rue the day that you mocked the party of purity. If you don't understand our subtle hints and code words, just ask a good Jew or catholic (although you will have to look long and hard in Jones and Neshoba)
This has about as much of a chance as being "turned over" as I do of changing genders. (That would be 0, since I'm anonymous.)
To force a run-off, extremely slim odds and I think Thad romps.
Please rally Tea Party, if Chris Can't do it Michael Watson can. We are on a roll Mississippians. We have a message to rally our people around. Never mind that the rest of Mississippi thinks we don't truly represent them. 180,000 of us is a lot of people. Isn't it? We can get the other 2.5M Mississippians to see our justification for espousing the principals of integrity, vigilance, sanctity of the vote, stand and fight, fiscal conservatism, and snarl at those that don't believe. Snarling works. It got us into the runoff. Our candidate doesn't even have to have a happy campaign photo to use because snarling is so effective. Let's roll comrades. The Founding Fathers are with us.
10:24, I would be interested in your take as I am sitting here scratching my head STILL as to why my friend Senator Michael Watson is tying his horse to this wagon. There are hills we need to die on,,,,,,,and there are hills like CM that suck and we don't. I am so said for MW's future as it has been bright and now it's going to be easy to stomp. Thoughts?
CM is much more Nixon than anything like Reagon who reached out to Tip O'Neal. Like Nixon always making enemies lists for the final purge.
Watson has cost McDaniel quite a bit over the years.
10:49 here, autocorrect....."I am so SAD for MW's future....."
Not 'said'.
First comment, ever, on this BS. First, McDaniel is certainly in over his head on this, State Senator or not.Second, he would do well to concede, lick his wounds and try again. Third, he's crazy as a dog that has been hit by a car, he'll bite anything that moves. Even those would help him. Last, but not least, he's not very photogenic with that smug smile photo everyone shows and certainly he doesn't talk like anyone I've ever heard speak that claimed to be from Jones County (Free State or not).
Razor
Kingfish: Unless McDaniel saved Watson's life in Vietnam, or covered up a murder for him, I'm pretty sure the debt has been paid at this point. Watson needs to pull out like its prom night.
9:44; After all this time you till don't understand the law regarding illegal crossover? You're a special kind of stupid ain'tcha?
Can't you people understand? At the behest of his lifelong friend Roberty Byrd, Thad, long ago, dedicated the remainder of his days on this earth to bringing black folk into the Republican tent.
He simply invited them to participate in the process, helped them feel good about themselves, "reached out to black voters", declared that all God's chirrun be equal.
It's not Thad's fault that his "Can't we all just get along" conversion allowed him to stay in office. Please understand; that's what we call 'unintended consequences'. None of it was planned or predicted. Trust me.
Hey 2:11 we ALL understand that crossover voting is illegal. And we ALL understand that he hasn't found much of that. You DO realize that they found a grand total 7 crossover votes in Lauderdale county, don't you? Zero crossovers in many others. If you think that is enough to turnover an election then YOU'RE a "special kind of stupid, ain'tcha"?
Tea Party People, you are hardly alone at being angry about the corruptions and inefficiencies in our systems of government.
The problem is that anger is not good enough.
First , you have to accurately and honestly describe where the failures occur.
Then, you have to offer a rational plan to improve the systems.
You don't do that. You emote. You trash talk. You name call. You act without thinking about the consequences.
My example would be the idiot who wasted hours of legislative time that could have been productively spent by introducing a bill defining the boundaries of Israel!
You don't bother to know how government should work to function well or why laws are in place before you try to erase laws!
You are like the husband who beats up his wife when she does something he doesn't like. He won't ask why she did what she did. He just beats the crap out of her. He may have been justified in his anger but he's not resolved anything. She'll do it again and next time, he might kill her!
You are like the guy whose TV is on the blink and rather than call a repair man, he pounds it with his fist! Then he still doesn't call a repairman, he invites his cousin Bob over, who is " handy" and a " good guy" and has him tinker with it and still rages when it's not working right!
That's what you are doing in government. You are destructing and making it worse without any idea what you are doing in your efforts to assuage your anger!
I'm sorry but there are no easy fixes! It took years for it to get messed up and it will take hard work, understand and knowledge, and patience to fix it.
The Tea Party is not demonstrating ANY of those qualities!!!!!!
And, your candidate hasn't demonstrated anything other than an ability to appeal to your anger and photograph well...sound and fury but no substance. He was a sorry legislator and you should have bothered to look at his record!
And, you should bother to take the time to read the legal responses because therein lie the facts!

Do you think that McDaniel's supporters are going to vote for Cochran?
It's interesting that the FACT that Henry Barbour's PAC paid for those despicable race-baiting ads (which he first denied, then admitted that they did) to smear McDaniel. It's the Barbour group that provoked this split. It's the Barbour group that lied about doing it. It's the Barbour group that has the most to gain/lose in this whole fiasco.
Lay the blame for this where it belongs. In the Barbour/Cochran camp.
"your candidate hasn't demonstrated anything other than an ability to appeal to your anger and photograph well.."
I agree with everything 8:57 said except "photograph well" - he looks maniacal, messianic, and totally untrustworthy.
That's what scared mainstream Repubs and Dems (especially African-Amercians) who had skipped the primary to come out in large numbers for the runoff, once they realized this guy had a chance to actually become the candidate.
Agree with 10:08. And do the Tea Partiers really believe that this election was mucked in fraud? Does McDaniel actually know what efforts that actually go into the election process? I think not. He is a liberal democrat trial lawyer masquerading as a Republican. Just a False prophet.
I have been lurking and reading and I am kinda (no really) pissed off. These tea bag people are unhappy because crossover people who would sometimes or oftentimes vote democratic voted for Thad and so those votes should not be counted. I vote both ways, have been voting since 1976 and have voted Republican and Democratic for years. So, because I don't vote the way they think I should vote my vote is not legal or acceptable? That is crazy. My vote is given to me by the constitution which these people say is what they stand up for, the constitution. What is wrong with this picture? If I am a legal resident and can vote, why do they want to discount my vote? Is this voter intimidation? Is this some sort of voter fraud they want to impose because I don't vote the way they want? They seem to be very Stalinitic to me, if I don't vote the way they want, my vote should not be counted. People wake up
7:28, there are two kinds of 'crossover' folks, the legal and the illegal. You are the legal sort: an independent. Nobody who understands the law in Mississippi is angry about your vote-both-ways approach.
Here is how the system is supposed to work. You get one (1) vote in the June primary-election for one (1) nominee. Then, you get one (1) vote in the November general election, for one (1) winner. Make sense? Your vote is your vote, but there is only & exactly one vote PER VOTER per season: once for the summer party nominee process, and then once for the autumn of picking the final winner.
Now that we have the LEGAL stuff out of the way, we can talk about what would be illegal. For instance, you cannot go vote in Jackson during the morning on November 4th, and then drive to Pascagoula to vote *again* on the afternoon of November 4th, right? That is illegal double-voting.
Here is another way to illegally double-vote: you vote in the 6/3 Democratic primary in the morning, and then later you circle back, and vote again in the 6/3 Democractic primary.
There is one particular kind of illegal double-voting that matters most, when the McDaniel challenge-lawsuit is eventually filed (this kind is also called illegal crossover voting because it involves voting in the D-primary and then crossing over to the R-runoff). It is illegal to vote in the 6/3 democratic party primary, and then to double-vote in the primary-phase of the election *again* by casting another ballot during the 6/24 republican runoff.
That's what volunteers for McDaniel are checking for, mostly. (They are also looking into fraud related to absentee ballots aka mail-in ballots, and looking for poll-workers and/or election-officials who changed the tally marks in the pollbooks, and other sorts of nasty stuff, but those other problems are not "illegal double-votes".)
Anyways, hope this long explanation helps. Nobody wants to discount your vote, as long as you are voting just ONCE per season! But if you are double-voting, which means voting twice in the same election-season, such as voting in both the d-primary and the r-runoff (which is a redo of the r-primary technically speaking)... those double-votes should not be counted, any more than if you double-voted once in person and then a second time by mail-in ballot.
If one person is allowed to double-vote, that means they cancel out the single vote of somebody else: which is not fair. If it turns out there WERE enough double-votes shown to exist during the 6/24 r-runoff, there will be a "redo-runoff" sometime in September (and this time ALL the pollworkers will be given careful instructions on how to use the pollbooks PROPERLY to prevent double-voting from happening again).
