Results are in and although JJ led the results I'm going to declare WLBT the winner. There is a built-in bias after all since this is a JJ poll. WLBT doubled the votes of the nearest competitor, WAPT. The Clarion-Ledger was next but what was interesting was Twitter was only 15 votes behind the newspaper. Could media be entering a phase where readers no longer watch the news or first go to the media website but instead scan Twitter for headlines? What will that mean for news coverage in Jackson? Here are the results.

WAPT broke the news of Lumumba's death at the end of their 5 p.m. broadcast Tuesday.
Who breaks news first isn't as important to me anymore. There are so many sources available now that it doesn't make a great outlet less credible if some guy breaks the news on Twitter first. The race to be first has had some negative effects on on accuracy and depth of reporting for some.
The poll is meaningless. Some polls count on people answering the phone who have little else to do, and feeling important and hanging on to listen to stupid questions.
Some polls, such as this one, rely on people who hang out on the net all day long and half the nite and have nothing more to do than scan the right and left hand columns of blogs for opportunities to express themselves.
