From the Palisades to the Wal-Mart. Ridgeland Police arrested Joshua Martin Bobo after he went on a rampage at a Wal-Mart store. RPD told JJ Mr. Bobo went into the store, jumped the counter, stabbed the clerk with a syringe, drank some peroxide, and then took some pills. Unfortunately for the rest of us, Mr. Bobo was not done as he carjacked a car. He got boxed in somehow and ran back into the store. He was then arrested.
Mr. Bobo was involved in an incident at the Palisaides a year ago. Earlier post. Here is the press release JJ posted:
January 5, 2013
Suspect in Custody After Standoff With Rankin County Deputies
Sheriff Bryan Bailey Reports:
On Saturday January 5, 2013, at approximately 9am the Rankin County
Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Eastlake Forest Drive in the
Palisades Subdivision of an individual threatening suicide with a gun.
Rankin County deputies responded to the area and were met by the
suspect’s parents who stated that their son was threatening suicide with
a rifle and had threatened them with the rifle. The parents fled the
residence in fear for their safety. While on the scene near the
residence deputies were threatened to be shot by the suspect if they
approached the residence
Deputies on scene called for additional backup and secured the immediate area around the residence.
Additional Rankin County Deputies along with Reservoir Police responded.
Since the suspect was armed with a high powered rifle and possibly had
access to additional weapons, the residences near the suspect’s home
were evacuated and a larger perimeter was secured. This included
blocking the entrance to the subdivision, Fannin Landing Circle and the
walking trail next to it.
The Rankin County Special Response Team was activated and members
responded to the scene. During this response, two deputies collided in
their vehicles near the scene. Both deputies suffered moderate injuries
and were transported to UMC.
The SRT Team set up a perimeter around the residence and disabled the
vehicles at the residence while negotiators attempted to contact the
suspect. After several attempts to contact the suspect failed, the
Jackson Office of the FBI and Mississippi Highway Patrol Swat Team
responded to the scene with remote control robots. One robot cleared the
first floor of the residence with no contact with the suspect. While
preparing to send in the second robot to search the second floor of the
residence contact was made with the suspect.
The suspect’s grandmother, working with a sheriff’s department
negotiator, was able to get the suspect to answer his telephone. The
suspect was talked into coming out the front door of the residence where
SRT members were able to take him into custody.
After examination by medical personnel on the scene, it was determined
that the suspect could have possibly ingested a large amount of
prescription and over the counter medicine and needed to be transported
to a hospital. The suspect was transported to UMC by AMR. The suspect is
being kept for observation and is being guarded by a Rankin County
Deputy.
The rifle used in the incident was recovered from the residence along
with other weapons all of which were seized by the sheriffs department.
The suspect is identified as: Joshua M. BOBO – 27 year old male
Joshua BOBO will be incarcerated at the Rankin County Jail after his
release from the hospital on charges of domestic violence and attempted
assault on a law enforcement officer.
Joshua BOBO does have a Rankin County arrest history on domestic violence and alcohol charges.

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Seriously, he is out of jail why?
JimAtTheRez
Fill me in on who this guy is and history please.
Obviously he was pissed off because of not being invited to the Canton Wal Mart grand opening.
He has shown way more than enough evidence to prove that he is a danger to himself and others. WHY is he not in a locked mental ward or at the very least behind jail bars?
Bobo?
Is this guy any relation to James Bobo, the lawyer working with Precious Martin to sue St. Andrews?
Just a year ago we were discussing Bobo here on this site.
http://www.kingfish1935.blogspot.com/2013/01/sheriff-son-threatened-his-parents-and.html
Nothing has changed, it seems. It's just a matter of time before he kills someone and we're asking how some judge could release him after the Wal Mart incident.
Dad's a lawyer. Good one. Dealt with him before on public records requests. Very professional.
It is very difficult to get an adult mental health help when they are resistant. Very sad. Is his dad the same James Bobo lawyer working with Precious? Are there a lot of lawyers with that last name? He assaulted the pharmacist?
His dad is a great man and lawyer.
His dad has nothing to do with this. Most parents would disown their 28 year old son after he's fucked up for the millionth time. They have not gotten to have a normal happy life thanks to Josh and they have done nothing but get him into treatment time and time again and have their lives wrecked over and over but they do not just kick him out like we would all do. If anything they should be given an award.
12:20 I agree. His father is a good man. I hate to see anyone go through this.
12:20, what kind of treatment has this guy had? Drugs, mental health, both?
His dad is a good man and fair lawyer, his grandfather was a great Doctor and even greater man.
Who gives a rat's ass how good a man his dad and grandaddy are/were? This man is a danger to himself but more importantly to other people. He needs to be behind bars and maybe jumping the counter, assaulting the pharmacist with a dangerous weapon, stealing a car and wreaking general havoc in a public venue will put him where he needs to be.
Stuart Irby's dad and granddaddy were great, honorable, stand up men too. But, Stuart the lesser was crucified and vilified publicly and on this site for months. Clyde Barrow's dad and mom were nice people too.
Apparently the father is and the grandfather was well-respected. That's wonderful.
The problem is with the son/grandson who is not a stable person and definitely has violent tendencies toward himself and others. Someone wrote that Josh has been in treatment 'time and time again'. My guess is that, while in treatment, Josh is stabilized on medication(i.e.no longer considered threat to himself or others)and once he leaves/completes treatment he stops taking his meds and then the vicious cycle begins again...and again...and again.
I sincerely feel for the family. Apparently, they have tried to find help for their son. Sadly, so often now days the system fails all involved.
Hopefully no one is severely injured, or worse, because of this "system failure".
"System" failure? Take a minute and propose an improved system that you feel would work in situations like this. Thanks.
@7:02-The answer is simple. People like this who are too ill to make good choices for themselves should be held in an appropriate treatment center - by court order - at the request of a parent, spouse, sibling or any other concerned citizen until a qualified physician deems him to be "cured" (understanding that some will never be). However, this will never happen because ACLU will scream bloody murder over the violation of his rights. After all, the rights of ONE mentally ill person is far more valuable than the right for the rest of us to live free from fear that we'll be the next person caught in one of his psychotic rampages. My heart goes out to his parents. I can only imagine their torment as they see their son hurting them, hurting other people, hurting himself and knowing there is absolutely NOTHING they can do about it.
7:33 nailed it. This is why we have parks full of homeless, mentally ill people panhandling and talking to themselves. This guy is one of the rare ones that has been proven to pose an immediate danger to strangers - maybe that will be enough to get him where he should be.
Or maybe we will have to wait until after a tragedy, as they did in Aurora, CO.
Liberals never admit the damage they cause by unintended consequences.
unfortunately i know this guy. i cannot begin to tell you how disturbed and screwed up he is.hes in some huge trouble now... i highly doubt he will get any less than 50 years for all this stuff. i hope the pharmacist is ok.. he should have never been out of jail after the standoff in Brandon.
@11:21- The sad part of this is that he will end up in jail instead of an appropriate mental health facility. It would have been SO much better for EVERYBODY if his parents had been able to have him forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital where he would be treated more humanly and get the appropriate medical care.
A lot of people are quick to praise Joshua's father here. Maybe in his professional life he's a "great man", but he's clearly a shit father. Judge a tree by the fruit it bears.
12:39-what a crappy thing to say.
I don't know the family and I doubt that you do either. A family that has a disturbed, mentally ill, or drug addicted 'child' does NOT automatically mean the parents were horrible parents. It's a family's hell I wish upon no one - and I speak from experience.
Do not judge, or you too will be judged....and right now I clearly think of you as a prig.
" Judge a tree by the fruit it bears. "
Hey douchebag - if you had a second neuron to make a synapse you might realize you know absolutely nothing about serious mental illness, and how it usually has nothing to do with parenting style or skill.
i know jim, have worked a few cases with him. he is a smart, kind and caring person-- none of which apply to 12:39-- and he happens to have a mentally ill son.
Does anyone know what happened to this case?
