District Attorney moves to revoke Bobo's probation

It appears Joshua Bobo will not get out of jail any time soon.  Rankin-Madison District Attorney Michael Guest is asking a court to revoke the probation Mr. Bobo received a  year ago for an attempted grand larceny conviction in Rankin County.  Mr. Bobo pleaded guilty to the charge.  This conviction is merely one incident in a growing list of problems with the law for Mr. Bobo.

Ridgeland police arrested the 28-year old man after he stabbed a pharmacist with a syringe at Walmart, carjacked an older woman in the parking lot, ran back inside the store, swallowed H202, and then took some pills.  Ridgeland police arrested him.

A Rankin County judge sentenced Mr. Bobo to five years supervised probation and ordered him subjected to drug testing after accepting his guilty plea of attempted grand larceny as  part of a lesser included charge of burglary of a dwelling on July 8, 2013.  Oddly enough, the suspect passed a drug test yesterday morning.  Mr. Bobo was arrested after he worked for the city of Pearl checking meters. Apparently Mr. Bobo entered a residence and swiped some beer from the fridge.  Charges were pressed against Mr. Bobo, hence the conviction.

The incident took place one day before he engaged police and family members in a  standoff at the Palisades subdivision by the Reservoir.  Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey stated in a press release last year:

Rankin County deputies responded to the area and were met by the suspect’s parents who stated that their son was threatening suicide with a rifle and had threatened them with the rifle. The parents fled the residence in fear for their safety. While on the scene near the residence deputies were threatened to be shot by the suspect if they approached the residence. Deputies on scene called for additional backup and secured the immediate area around the residence.
Mr. Bobo served six months in the Rankin County jail for the threats against the police. District Attorney Michael Guest told this correspondent his office is moving to revoke his probation.  Mr. Bobo faces up to ten years a prison and a fine of $10,000 or less if probation is revoked.

Here are his prior cases:

*Assault on a police officer.  Threatened to shoot a deputy at the Palisades standoff a year ago.  He served six months in the Rankin County jail from January to July. Standoff on January 5, 2013
* Assault Domestic Violence (Misdemeanor). Threatened to shoot family members in the Palisades standoff.  The charge was remanded to the file. In other words, he was not prosecuted at the request of the family members.
*Attempted Grand larceny (Felony). January 4, 2013. Pleaded guilty.  5 years unsupervised probation. Served 48 hours in jail in September for failing to appear for a drug test.
*Driving with a suspended license/Failure to appear in court. July 1, 2010. Remanded to file.
*Assault Domestic Violence (Misdemeanor). February 2, 2008. Guilty. $469 fine and court costs.
*Domestic Violence/Simple Assault (Misdemeanor). June 22, 2008. Remanded to file.
*Seatbelt violation. May 24, 2008. Fine: $35.

But, But, But....I keep reading that his dad is such a swell guy.

Look; I have a son myself and love him with all my heart no matter what. But, if he reaches a point where he really needs to be incarcerated, I will have to adjust to that reality and help it get done for his own good.

This is the last straw for him. Rankin County kept making the deals and he is now at the will of Madison County. No more deals, no more excuses. This type of behavior (and prior behavior) has no place anywhere in Jackson. I hope Mr. Bobo enjoys his new home at MDOC, because he is going to be there for quite a few years. Luckily, nobody is dead due to his obvious insanity, selfishness, and lack of care for others.

Dad bailed him out and bailed him out until he could bail no more. There are people that do far less that receive much more. Not to inject a whole other issue into this, but take a look at the Scott sisters. Do you think they would have repeated the same transgressions had they been released after 6 months?

The Scott sisters were just greedy, not insane.

"This is the last straw for him. Rankin County kept making the deals and he is now at the will of Madison County. "

Uh, the Rankin Co. DA is the Madison Co. DA, isn't he? Does he pull a Jekyll and Hyde as he drives over the spillway at the Rez?

This guy sounds like he needs commitment to protect himself and the general public.

It depends on which court venue winds up handling the case.

2 judges in the district. I would think that the DA's recommendation is going to have little to with what he actually gets, unless he's asking for 10 to serve.

I was assaulted by this man 5 years ago. Cut up with knife, made nearly bald from ripping my hair out, my back bleeding from him tearing at my purse strap and clothing layers until they were all finally torn from my body, left in the street to walk home naked. His mother attempted to blackmail me, threatening I'd not make it to courtroom to prosecute her son if I followed through with signing charges against her son, bc her son would NOT be put in jail. He plead 5th. Judge said "it just didn't make sense he'd attack like that without some provocation, derived from some sort of conflict between the 2 of us who, she believed, there was no way weren't involved in a romantic relationship", when I tried explaining his behavior was just "bizarre"(every time I saw his face during the lengthy attack, he was smiling). Passed a drug test after this charade, including drinking hydrogen peroxide- sounds to me like pretty "bizarre" behavior, but maybe I don't understand what OTHERS would consider such.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
