Do I even need to say it?

Where have we heard this before?

Thought Haley phrased it delicately.....also did the math for the Mayor.

I think the Mayor would prefer to raise the water rate for customers. It seems that raising rates was the second thing out of his mouth during the last meeting, although veiled as a threat of sorts.
That way he wouldn't have to bother with lobbying or appear to kowtow to others who might know a bit more that he.
Criticism from water customers won't bother him. They just represent an easy access to what he is seeking.

Another nail in the coffin for Jackson non-leadership...!!!

Ignorant Mayor.....Ignorant Council.....the sad thing is someone with a brain and common sense will not ever be elected!

Anybody hear anything out of the JFP questioning the Mayor's wisdom after firing the paid lobbyists?

I didn't think so.

The JFP is in full-throttle mode right now trying to decide how to spin this as a Barbour hates Jackson item - never mind the fact that the city completely failed to follow the protocol that everyone else seems to be able to follow. The sad part is that had the city done what it was supposed to do from day 1, this would probably have never been an issue. They can forget it now, though. Trying to out-chess Barbour by threatening to cut off water. Hilarious.

what was that reggie white once said about managment skills?

When Jim Hood is bringing up the fact that Harvey Johnson never completed the paperwork in order to get considered you know it is bad.

Regardless, on yet another issue the JFP has been left in the fact-checking and deep research dust by Kingfish.

I seem to remember a few years ago that the state legislature crafted a bill to support the building of a Children's Theater and designed the bill so that it was apparent they wanted it to be in Jackson.

IIRC Harvey was the mayor then who never filed the paperwork for that either, and that theater is now headed for (or may already be open in) Meridian.

Was the Museum of Music or something like that. Music Hall of Fame I think. We sat on our butts and Hob Bryan grabbed it.

This is the best thing I've read in a very long time! Thanks, KF!!

Does Harvey need to hire someone with a clue? I would be embarrassed to have the Guberna' go spell out how to do my job. Didn't he send someone to meet with the State to at least find out the options?

Ahhh, but there's no fees to be paid if there's no bond issue.

Kingfish said...

Wouldn't matter on these. Jackson gets a loan, no fees involved on the bonds anyway.

And we get another hatchet job by the CL, this one courtesy of Mr. Joyner. It just amazes me why the CL refuses to: a) continue to not report the entire story and b) bird dog Johnson about that misssing MDA application.

Anonymous said...

Joyner's research and reporting on this has been half-assed at best.

Kingfish said...

Oh, this is funny. The JFP weighs in. Um, Jackson just might have dropped the ball in not submitting an application. Notice how Lynch doesn't ask Johnson or anyone else why THEY DIDN"T READ THE LAW which specified they had to submit an application. Funny how Lynch doesn't delve into any of the available loan programs or takes Johnson to task for being "misinformed" and claiming the state owes Jackson "millions" in unpaid past due water bills. Ladd and Lynch conveniently left those facts out. In fact, they've left out quite a few facts while whining about "partisan politics" and bragging Lynch is "the only one asking some very relevant questions" When frankly, he's done very little but read press releases and quote Harvey or Reeves. Read for yourself

Nothing but another JFP sob story where Jackson and Harvey are the political and (wink, wink) race victims.

Ladd wants to misdirect that Barbour is somehow superceding the law while not acknowledging that the whole process is kicked off by completing the damn application. It doesn't matter if only Jackson has to submit ... it is in the legislation that Cecil Brown and all the others now playing dumb voted for and passed.

But thanks to Cecil Brown for admitting that he doesn't read the bills either before or after they are passed. He'd fit in real well with Pelosi and Reid.

Btw KF, Lynch does more than follow PR and the C-L He and Ladd read every word posted here. A little intern birdy chirped that recently.

She's at three comments now. Anyone want to bet it will be three more before she is done? She can't understand why Ben Allen highlighted the part about Hood's press release stating Jackson never submitted an application.

Hey Donna, maybe its because it shows Harvey was wrong to attack the state, was wrong to include six million bucks he didn't have, and he didn't even bother to read the damn law before lashing out at everyone else and taking no responsibility.

HERE is the question you should make Lynch ask: Mayor Johnson, do you take responsibility for the failure to submit an application to MDA as prescribed by statute?

It is no surprise she's dogging Ben. She's extremely bitter about the BoomJ bust.

Kingfish said...

She seemed fine with him when she dragged his home into her Two Lakes jihad.

"Btw KF, Lynch does more than follow PR and the C-L He and Ladd read every word posted here. A little intern birdy chirped that recently."

Of course they do. What the else would they read? They have a nice group of, um, single digits who have been bothering to post there for years.

But then again, what can you expect from a cite where people are trained by the Village Voice. Anyone want to pass the pot?

KaptKangaroo said...

Oldie but goodie. And to the JFP romper room, aka, interns...you do a fine backup....

Hey KF! Shouldn't the City have an assigned person in charge of researching, securing, and maintaining compliance with State and Federal grants/loans/etc?

Do you ever wonder who that person is and what they actually do to serve the public? If you find out, we would all love to know!!

Village Voice has some good stuff. One of my favorite columnists, Nat Hentoff, worked there for a looooonnng time.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
