Correction: The original headline stated the crime happened in Northeast Jackson. Crestview Drive is by Meadowbrook Road. However, the crime happened on Crestview Street, which is behind MBMC. The press release states "Crestview Street." However, there is no Crestview Street in Google Maps and it defaults to "Crestview Avenue", which is behind MBMC.
The Capitol Police issued the following statement.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Capitol Police Department that occurred on February 14th near Crestview Street.
Officers with the Capitol Police Department responded to a call regarding shots fired. Upon arrival, an officer found one individual lying in the street suffering from an alleged gunshot wound. While the officer was with the individual, the subject began firing shots in the direction of the officer. The officer then discharged his weapon. Shortly after, a second individual exited the residence suffering from an alleged gunshot wound and stated the subject had committed suicide. The subject was found inside the residence with an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Both injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported.
MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office. This information is preliminary and subject to change.
Additional information may be provided at a later time.

Murder suicide pact most likely. Some high end houses over there. This also happened in Brandon around thanksgiving. Husband died bc he was cheating
Google maps indicates that there is no Crestview STREET in Jackson; only Crestview AVENUE (Belhaven) and Crestview DRIVE (Meadowbrook).
I too confirmed this through the Hinds County Assessor's website, which indicates a Crestview Place, Drive, Cove, Avnd Avenue, but no street. Good luck when you call 9-1-1 in Jackson. When seconds count they are minutes away.
It's a Neighborhood Watch area!
WLBT has a video report on this situation.
The reporter is standing at the intersection of Crestview Avenue and Manship Street the camera is looking South on Crestview Avenue. The Capitol dome is visible in the distance to the South (aligned along the Crestview Avenue alignment.)
How good are the 911 operators?
There was no comment from the new police chief of Jackson?
She's still trying to figure out which Crestview it is!
Has anyone at JPD taken freshman comp?
An “alleged gunshot wound?”
Retards, the lot of them.
That whole report was a hot mess.
Hey ((February 15, 2026 at 1:53 PM & 2:27)) Tyree still in charge the new chief not confirmed yet you probably didn't bother to check that though.
Anyone calling the area where Crestview AVENUE is located as being "Belhaven", would suggest that the individual has no idea where the Belhaven neighborhood actually is. Crestview AVENUE is in the Mid-City neighborhood, between Rowan School and Baptist Hospital. The Belhaven neighborhood is on the other side of State Street, several blocks to the east.
It is Crestview Street - Google Maps is wrong and Capitol Police got it right. It’s one block west of N West Street, extending two blocks from its south termini at E Fortification to its north termini at Manship. Go to Google street view and you can see the street signs say “CRESTVIEW ST” and it’s labeled the same way on the official City of Jackson street map on MDOT’s website.
Crestview Drive crosses Meadowbrook one block west of Ridgewood Drive. When a developer told the city he wanted to name a street Crestview (fill in the blank) they should have told him the name was taken. Too many Crestviews, too confusing.
She's still trying to find JPD HQ and city hall.
There are not really "high-end houses over there", unless you extend that neighborhood by an inordinate amount. If you knew anything about that area you would know that it's not one in which you would go for an evening stroll.
Google maps and a City of Jackson map (prepared by the City of Jackson?) and the street signs say Crestview Street.
Hinds County Landroll property reports of propertes located on this Crestview and the maps at the Landroll both say ity's Crestview Avenue.
I would favor the Hinds County Landroll as the one that is correct.
There is also an obituary for an S.A. Pirtle of 1103 Crestview Avenue which was published in the Jackson Daily News on June 9, 1963. Available on Newspapers.com.
I am shocked to say that I think the City of Jackson might have screwed something up.
MISSING WORD: Google maps STREETVIEW and a City of Jackson map (prepared by the City of Jackson?) and the street signs say Crestview Street.
Jesus Christ, Can Jackson do ANYTHING right?
We know you wont ever actually prosecute the criminals you love so much, but the least you could do is get the locations of these crimes correct so they can be avoided by the rest of us.
If the police can't respond to crime scenes because they can't find them they can't write reports on the crimes they couldn't find.
