Following up on KF at 10:07, I think this was the only way Ole Miss could have handled it, and still force Kiffin to take responsibility for his own decision to leave.

Otherwise, Kiffin would have put the blame on someone else, while trying to have it both ways, which he still tried to do by blaming the school for not letting him coach the team in the playoffs.

Kiffin and Nick Saban both knew damn well UM couldn’t let Kiffin coach the Rebels, while simultaneously recruiting for LSU.

Eight years ago Saban wouldn’t let Kiffin coach in the national championship after accepting the job at FAU. Now they both act like that never happened, and it’s some kind of injustice to the players to not let him do it now.

Kiffin took Bama off the schedule the past two seasons because the Rebels could not defeat them and injuries from that game alone plagued the teams for the rest of the season.

I must admit I have enjoyed the last day since his announcement way more than I should have. I have gone on Ole Miss football forums last night and this morning. The amount of bitching, whining, pissing and crying has been epic. I have witnessed all 4 phases of grief. I’m a lifelong Ole Miss fan. I stayed connected to the Kiffin saga until the bitter end. However, I realized that it was over, he was gone and there was nothing I could do about it. Life goes on and there are so many more important things to get upset or worry about.

I’m not an Ole Miss fan, grew up only the RICH KIDS went there. Parents shelled out the money, but today I TRUELY feel sorry for all of Oxford, well know for the MOST PRESTIGIOUS FAMILY, THE MANNINGS!!! Not one of them would turn their back on you especially for money. I grew up watching Archie, and following them. The whole family is total class.

@6:16am, remember that Louisiana only has 1 SEC program and they pretty much don't have any in state rival. If OM and State were one school, we would run the south, and that's with half the people and money of Louisiana. In my mind it is SHOCKING when state or OM wins any games in any sport against any other SEC school. On what planet should one of our two SEC programs beat Texas in anything? We have no money and 1/8th of the people right?? But we do anyway.

That is a myth. Louisiana has much more talent than Mississippi. The first dozen or so players in Mississippi are as good as anywhere else but after that, there is a drop-off. If there was only one I-A school here, it would fare better but not that much. Hell, look at Arkansas. They have the whole state to themselves, very similar to Mississippi, next to East Texas.

Keith Carter has been a great ad. He mistakenly went all in with Lane in an attempt to hold onto him and I think Lane did seriously consider staying but Nick Saban told him you have to go where you can get the players. SO carter gambled and lost if he had started talking to Sumrall at Tulane earlier it would probably have made lanes decision to leave easier. So He gambled and he lost.

It's not fair or true to call it a "myth". Obviously, Louisiana has more talent because they have a whole lot more PEOPLE! My point is made by LSU fans laughing at OM and State for "only having 60k capacity stadiums" and other silly comparisons. 60k+60k = 120k, 20k more than Death Valley. If things were fair, Mississippi would be like Arkansas would only have one SEC program and every other state would have 2+.

It isn't 2015 anymore. High school recruiting matters wayyyyyy less. 2025 college games are won by completing the best rosters. LSU always wins high school signing day, but where has that gotten them since 2021? Give me three 3rd year college players for the price of a high school five star all day, every day. But, of course, some programs don't today's game and think because they loaded up on four 5 star WRs they will win games.
