Although it didn't get the coveted MICHELIN Star, Elvie's restaurant garnered attention from the famed MICHELIN Guide.
MICHELIN Guide placed the Belhaven restaurant and Sacred Ground Barbecue (Pocahontas) on its 2025 list of Bib Gourmand restaurants. The MICHELIN Guide considers such restaurants to provide great food at great value.
One restaurant earned Two MICHELIN Stars: Emeril's in New Orleans.
The following restaurants earned One MICHELIN Star:
Saint-Germain (NOLA), Zasu (NOLA), Counter (Charlotte), Malgon Mercado y Taperia (Charleston), Scoundrel (Greenville, S.C.), Vern's (Charleston), Wild Common (Charleston), Bastion (Nashville), Locust (Nashville), The Catbird Seat (Nashville).
The rest of the MICHELIN Guide announcement is posted below.
Elvie's co-owner Cody McCain said "We're thrilled to be recognized with a lot of the best restaurants across the South. Many of those folks are our friends and we are happy to be amongst them. Mississippi doesn't get a whole lot of credit in the culinary scene so we are happy to shine a light on the cool stuff we are doing here."

Elvie's and Sacred Ground are both fantastic. The Brisket from Sacred Ground is the closest you can get to Texas Brisket. And a really cool joint too.
Both restaurants are amazing. Had Sacred Ground for the first time earlier this year. Safe to safe I had been missing out on a lot. And Elvies is probably my favorite place in Jackson for food.
Emeril’s definitely earned it, but I am a little surprised that August didn’t even get Bib Gourmand.

Charleston truly is the greatest city in the South. Not surprised at all.
Bib Gourmand is way cooler than a star in my eyes. It is incredible food without some of overdone service.
Saint Germain in New Orleans picked up a Michelin star. Congrats to Jackson native, Drew Delaughter! They have truly worked hard to make this happen. Congratulations and well deserved boys!! Best meal in the city.
August is too impressed with itself.
August is on the Recommended Restaurants list that begins on the bottom of page 7 of the press guide. It appears in tiny print on page 8.
I am so uncultured, a Michelin Star sounds like Hobo Stew cooked over a burning tire. I probably would pass on any restaurant requiring me to park in Downtown Jackson.
I'm happy for all these establishments
But if any Jackson joint deserved a national accolade, I wish it was the 1980's Pyramid BBQ just off West Capitol ( a few blocks down Robinson from the old Wahabi Shrine Temple)
Best que in Jackson !
I agree with 6:11, I'll eat Dinty Moore's Beef Stew out of a coffee mug before I endanger myself in Jackson. Safety is more important than a tasty appetizer!
We ate at Sacred Ground, waaay overpriced.
I just want to add a mention for Pulito's Osteria being listed as well.
@6:11 - Elvie’s isn’t in downtown Jackson but nice try.
I eat at Elvie’s constantly and am still alive. Maybe I’m just not scared of my own shadow.
@ 8:50 Good luck.

This is true and DT Jxn, which in only a few blocks (a mile or radius around the Trustmart Building), isn't dangerous at all (Unfortunately, there aren't may restaurants left DT).
@7:40. Agreed. It's good, but the pay by the pound thing isn't really my favorite.
If you hurl insults but cannot tell the difference between Belhaven and downtown, then good—we won’t lose sleep over your decision to stay away.
