Lane Kiffin made some rather interesting comments yesterday as reporters grilled him about his future at Ole Miss .

Who is typing during his comments? That’s distracting.
Yea….. he’s gone.
Why is he gone? For goodness sakes, he's building a great team and you've won a lot of games! You are 3rd in a tough conference. Lordy, other schools are paying 10's of millions to coaches not doing as well. This is a very stupid move. And, PS, I went to one of the schools who gave out a guaranteed $50 million contract to our coach who lost more games.
Ron Serling would say " file this under 'unrealistic expectations ". There are more than a few legendary coaches that too longer to build historic teams.
Has there ever been a football coach with less personality? Geez
Would you prefer Kelly's? Moorehead was pretty bland too.
Hank Stram
Say what? He was pretty damn funny when they miked him up for IV.
Ole Miss will not have an easier schedule going forward than they had this year. They got a down Florida and a down LSU and will have to add an additional conference game going forward. Once this expectation of the CFP is set that is what he will have to live up to, or he will see himself fired from Ole Miss if he has a few subpar (by new standard he himself set) years. All young coaches either move on or get fired, with the highest percentage being fired. Might as well get a 9+ year contract to ensure a hefty buyout versus a 4 year max at Ole Miss. Also regardless of what you want to say about the landscape changing with NIL it is much easier to make the CFP every year and compete for the title at LSU or even Florida. I am not so sure Lane isn't waiting to see if Sarkisian gets shown the door once they lose to Texas A&M in two weeks, he would definitely bolt for Texas.
This NIL world that we are in makes it all interesting. In the past, a coach building a program was more apt to stay since players had to sit out a year when transferring. Now, teams are hired mercenaries each year, so if he left, he could take everybody with him (ala Huff at USM). That makes the will he stay or will he go more uncertain. Ole Miss has a great situation, but like it or not, Florida or LSU has more clout on the national stage due to larger alumni bases and Wal-Mart fans.
They definitely got blessed by the schedule gods this year. Of the teams they beat only one ranked opponent and a combined record of 46-56.
Leg humper fans hoping, praying, and commenting on every internet site possible that Lane will leave OM. Sad that they are so consumed with another school rather than focusing on their own pitiful situation.
I agree with the previous posters. Ole Miss has had two cupcake years. As the schedule gets more difficult, it won't be so easy to win in Oxford. Flip State and Ole Miss's schedules and see how many wins they have.
Lane probably thinks it's cute to prolong all this drama instead of just saying what he's going to do, but it will get real when MSU spanks Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl. We've seen it before. A highly-ranked MSU team with Dak Prescott was approaching the Egg Bowl some years ago and everyone was courting Dan Mullen. It was drama back then too, and that distraction cost them a game they never thought they would lose.
I’ve got great news for MSU fans. Your team’s poor showing this year, and the successful season your rival is enjoying, is in no way a reflection on you personally, so please don’t get so butt hurt that you post stupid comments reeking of jealously.
@10:27 I looked at the CFP poll this week. OM has played 2 teams ranked this week while MSU will have played 7 following the Egg Bowl.
Lane is on the brink of a financial windfall, thanks in large part to a fortunate string of luck that has spared him from significant injuries and gifted him with a less demanding schedule. The stars seem to have aligned perfectly, setting the stage for a prosperous chapter in his life.
love him or hate him, Lane doesn't do breakups very well.
As good of a coach as Lane it, this drama is childish. Maybe toy with people a few days, but this is getting old and I'm not involved or a fan of any of the schools involved.
Then perhaps you should not have even bothered reading this post and related comments if you have no interest.
Exact right: Hired Mercenaries
Ole Miss fans are enjoying a run of success and they don't want to see that end. I get it. You Rebel fans are feeling defensive over Lane, but that will only last right up to the point when you know he's gone. Then you'll feel jilted and stood up - like an ugly date on prom night. Unless you're Alabama, this almost always happens following success at any school.
@1:19. Thank you. They just haven't played the right team yet.
When MS State wins the Egg Bowl, he’ll be gone. Of all the great things he’s done for Ole Miss, they will hate him because of one game and a lost chance at making the playoffs. He’s wishful thinking that they might make it to a NC, earning him a nice bonus.
Any old fan knows there’s a nice chance State will come out on top, next week.
Leg humpers gonna hump.
Why would LSU be better than anyone else? they won a National Championship SIX (6) years ago!!! and it was the first since what ???1958??? And about Florida the last time that they won a national championship was when?? a couple of Decades ago?? if they are such great venues, then why are they NOT in the mix for the Championship year in and year out!! People are out there inventing things about Ole Miss just to stir the pot!!
I seem to recall a Lane Kiffien feeding frenzy not too long ago, like three years ago, with Auburn.
But fanning the flames of distraction might be State's best chance of winning next week. Plus, losing their head coach to Florida, just like State did, might settle some sort of score for some people.
And kneecapping Ole Miss, while reclaiming a coach that Alabama "stole," might be LSU's best shot at redemption with its fan base.
So, I'm not really surprised. Die heard football fans love to make good on old, festering grudges.
Everybody needs to leave Lane alone and quit thinking about your future "I told you so"! Who wouldn't like the idea of being recruited by other teams? He is focused on Mississippi State and potential playoffs for this season. He is not going anywhere. Unless he gets pissed off at Ole Miss fans saying they're sick of his vague statements. Y'all need to sit back and STFU!
Everybody thinks it’s Mississippi that gave lane the ultimatum , it’s more likely Florida or LSU.
