Mississippi gazillionaire Tommy Duff is entering the political fray.
Mr. Duff established a political action committee, Duff PAC, on December 10. The PAC's filing states Jordan Russell is the President.
The purpose of the PAC is to "raise and spend money to assist candidates for Mississippi state offices." Statewide elections will not take place until 2027. However, municipal races take place in a few months. It will not be surprising to see the PAC get involved in such elections this year.
The filing does not report any contributions or expenditures.
Thomas Duff is probably the richest individual in Mississippi with a Forbes-estimated net worth of $3.3 billion. His father founded tire colossus Southern Tire Mart. Mr. Duff served on the Board of Trustees for the Institutions of Higher Learning. James Duff and Thomas operate their business empire down in Columbia. The Duffs also own Duff Capital, KLLM, Southern Insurance Group ,and other companies.
Speculation has run rampant in Republican circles for the last year as to whether Mr. Duff will run for Governor in 2027. Walking around the Neshoba County Fair for a few days this year certainly did nothing to quell such rumors.

Great, another oligarch.
Why not? If he's the richest man in the state is he not entitled to run the state? If Mr. Musk can run the county does it not follow that....
Anybody who is not a life long bureaucrat has my support.
Well Musk is much richer than Duff. And Musk is only running a county (per your post), which is much smaller than a state.
Non-politicians have seldom done well the first time out running for Governor unless their opponent has lots of negative baggage.
Heaven forbid that we have someone who can feed himself lead the state. After all, we see what having grifters and politicians will do for you (right Jacksonians??)
So he's like George Soros but Mormon?
Ooh I hope he cuts my taxes! You know those gazillionaires and their conservative Christian values are always looking out for the common man
And he owns a brewery I think
My goodness, thank Mr. Duff, Mr. Trump, Mr. Musk, Mr. Ramaswamey..,and others. You may save us from Democrats who will tear the house down. No sane person can object to these people going through the trash that MS Democrats have created in cities and counties all over MS. Save us from the Demonic Dems.
Better than a Dumb-o-crat.
@2:06 I think not. Source?
You know, it would be nice to have someone in office for whom their elected position was NOT the best job they've ever had.
Move Over, Shadrack; there's a Hattiesburg man talking!
Oh good, he won’t beg for money to bankroll his campaign
This!!
Lmao 2:57 Duff Beer is Homer Simpson’s preferred beer. It is a Simpson reference.
Maybe the Pine Belt will finally get the respect it deserves; we shall not be overlooked!
@ 2:57 - the link is the Simpsons.
Lynn Fitch for governor
1/9 at 2:06 and 2:57 Duff's Brewery Springfield (Simpsons) it exists in Orlando, Florida at Universal
Wow so this is the guy who will own the next Governor of Mississippi just like Elon Musk owns the POTUS!
Jerry O'Connell is a legit part of Geek Culture.
Sounds like a good one to run!
2:06...Well done.
2:57...D'oh.
The Republican field just got cleared.
The man who turned this whole democrat state around was not a politician. He was an established successful businessman. Kirk Fordice. And since we elected him, we've had republican leadership.
Look at the current prospective leaders and rumored candidates hoping to climb the ladder to a higher PERS retirement. Every damned one of them has done nothing in their lifetime other than fart around in government jobs. Name one that has not.
The redneck Baptists won’t vote for a Mormon.
I like it! Tired of career politicians? Here’s your chance to send a message.
5:43 who said.they won’t
The fallout from Chris McDaniel will be great entertainment. Maybe he will FB live from the basement and talk trash about everyone who disagrees with him.
A Mormon Billionaire. What a great idea. Truly in touch with the average Mississippian. Can we just get Musk to help us prepare for the invasion of Greenland? These rich guys are sooooo brilliant. According to their sycophants.
Watching lefties come unglued is so satisfying. I’m starting to worry that they might start throwing up their kale and seaweed lunch. One’s thing clear -they don’t want successful people in government.
Come on, Shad. You the only one that knows what that word means. Or maybe that's you, Delbert.
This ain't 1965, cuz. Bring on those crazy undies!!
I guess you suck up to Kim Kardashian too, since she is so “successful .” Not a leftie but the actual extreme opposite, hero. You suckups are incredibly unable to read a room. Son, an unknown Mormon rich guy does not know anything about government except legalized bribery via lobbyists. They inherited money from Daddy, just like Romney and Gates and Trump and so on. Dolts with dough. Firmly believing they are geniuses just like Paris Hilton. Not winning and totally undeserving.
I'm cautiously aware of the people a billionaire would appoint to multiple positions.
But this man could definitely dispatch refrigerated trailers all over the country to house the deceased victims of gunfire in democrat cities. Morgues in those cities are full-up.
Who gives a hoot about a candidate's religion? Well, unless it's Islam.
The Duff brothers did not inherit their money; they started and grew several very successful companies.
4:32, I think Tate was a bank teller for a year.
4:54, some inherit and some earn their wealth. You can't criticize Paris Hilton and Bill Gates in the same post. Maybe Bill's parents had a little money and maybe I don't agree with his politics, but he earned his fortune and changed the world in doing so.
Duff might be the richest Mississippian, but Hood or one of the Lamptons might be instead. We probably will never know. They have all done well for themselves.
@2:57 PM, you’ve just been Stokespranked, muh dude.
Couple points. Inherited money, not so much. Their dad’s small business was pretty much going under when they took over. It’s also a positive that he can’t be bought like a Phil or a Tate. He’s made a good bit more than constable salary in his life. I think it’s good to elect someone who has zero financial incentive
Someone should open an emotional support store for progressive leftists. Snowflake-r-Us- binkies- pacifiers, emotional support animals, dvd box sets of “The View”— it would do gangbusters and it would only need one restroom. Throw in blue hair dye, doc martens, nose rings and it would be over the top!
True that! Only a couple of Governor's in my long lifetime met that standard, and they were two of the best.
Kirk Fordice comes to mind as a non-politician that ran. Only a couple of others (significant) in the past six decades - Carmichael, Sturdivant and Reed, but that should be taken with a grain of salt when comparing Carmichael (70's) and Reed (80's) as it was a major hill to climb for a Republican to win regardless of being a politician or non-politician.
Not just no, but........
Lets get someone in office that cares about things other than redecorating the office with new drapes and furniture and promoting how wonderful it is to have a "woman" in office. Maybe get someone that actually does a little work related to the job they are getting paid to do, and not demand personal protection and escorts to show their worth.
Obviously your auditors haven't done a very good job in their background checks, Shad. Duff didn't inherit his money from Daddy - nor did Romney, but who's counting. Both did have successful fathers and certainly didn't start from nothing, but both of their successful careers came about from what they built themselves. Nice try, but you're not going to chase him out with this lame attempt, even though it does put an end to your wanting to climb up the ladder to the office.
Puhleeze, money grubbers. Bill Gates was the son of a rich lawyer and grandson of a rich banker. Hilton? Hence the name. Barksdalers? Generations of cotton and lawyer money. Barbour, son of a cotton lawyer. The Duffs inherited Southern Tire Mart from Daddy. You whores born on third base think you hit a home run under a rigged economy and want to preach. Everyone in the Forbes 400 was either ultra wealthy or grew up in upper middle class families. Yet they all lie and say they are “self made.” Yes Duffs inherited wealth and got lucky under 40 years of a rigged economy. Now they swear they are geniuses and just need more tax cuts and steerage of GubMint money to friends. The RINO way.
Just remember that people attacking Musk and Trump wanted Kamala Harris or Jill Stein to be President.
Duff smells opportunity for $$$ in the Trump administration. Full stop.
Elon Musk made his billions from Obama subsidies and Vivek made his millions by scamming people with a pharmaceutical rug-pull where his mommy did a fake clinical trial to allow him to inflate the value of his pharma stocks so he could dump it. These people are a perfect entourage for Donald Trump.
BTW I am not a Kamala supporter I am a Ron Paul conservative.
I hope he runs. It would be great to see the State lead by a polished businessman that could project a positive image of the state. As opposed to the Feel Billy, TatorTot, Shat White, cowboy Andy, Dilbert, etc crowd we currently have. It’s painful to see our State leadership on national tv.
Deflection at its best. The political job we need to keep an eye on is Lieutenant Governor. As we've seen, every bumpkin in state government qualifies for that position and many have assumed the gavel.
I'd bet money that Elon got less government money than Ford, GM, etc. I'd bet that Elon got less money than NASA which he has had to bail out.
Another GubMint paid volleyball court USM type. RINO Rich Guys. To the Top (go all the profits and tax cuts) Middle class be damned.
A Ron Paul supporter attacking Trump, and his supporters, while vehemently denying your support for the left. You couldn't find anything to skewer the liberals about?
Who is Hood?
Grew up in same neighborhood as the Duff's. Good solid people who more than give back. Certainly set the example for others to follow.
