Rankin-Madison District Attorney Bubba Bramlett issued the following statement.
Madison and Rankin Counties' District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced that James Michael Hopkins, 46, of Florence, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit grand larceny. Circuit Court Judge Steve Ratcliff sentenced Hopkins to the mandatory maximum sentence of five years as a habitual offender in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Due to his extensive criminal record, Hopkins, as a habitual offender, will not be eligible for early release or parole. On December 19, 2023, a Pearl business owner reported to the Pearl Police Department that a dirt bike had been stolen from the business’s premises. Pearl police reviewed surveillance videos, employed other investigative techniques, and ultimately determined that James Michael Hopkins was involved. Using his truck, Hopkins scoped out the business, spotted the dirt bike, and then sent several others – including minors – back to carry out his plan and steal the dirt bike. “This case illustrates one person’s criminal lifestyle can negatively affect those around him,” stated District Attorney Bramlett. “A habitual offender concocted a plan to steal and then sent kids back to do his dirty work. We are thankful for the efforts of the Pearl Police Department, jurors, and the judicial system for holding Hopkins accountable for his criminal act and his negative influence on the lives of others.”

Tattoos on the neck = bad guy every time.
I wonder why he wasn’t also charged with accessory before the fact of larceny
Neck tats equal prison time, 80% of the time
If you want something done right, do it yourself. LMAO !!
PPD got the dirt on him.
No need to mention habitual offender. Neck tats tell that story. Good job Bubba. One more year and you will qualify to run for Congress.
These morons never learn. Neck tats scream "I am a criminal."
Couldn't this be a federal RICO charge?
I realize most common criminals do not have the capacity to think things through, but personally identifiable tats have to be one of the dumbest acts they commit. A one of a kind tat (and they are all distinct) will sink a perp every time..
Stereotype much?
Section 97-1-6 - Directing or causing felony to be committed by person under age of seventeen years
In addition to any other penalty and provision of law, any person over the age of seventeen (17) who shall direct or cause any person under the age of seventeen (17) to commit any crime which would be a felony if committed by an adult shall be guilty of a felony and upon conviction shall be fined not more than Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) or imprisoned for not more than twenty (20) years, or both.

Stereotypes exist for a reason. That reason is called “statistics”.
Bad to the core.
"Neck tats equal prison time, 80% of the time" - The lost 20% are the non tattooed criminal offenders that judge others that have tattoos but are able to get away with much worse or do worse behind closed doors until it finally catches up with them.. Keep throwing them stones at glass houses Mississippi.
