The $3 ticket surcharge at Thalia Mara Hall generated slightly more than one million dollars since it was instituted in 2014. The average annual revenue was nearly $100,000 if one does not count the Covid-19 years of 2020 and 2021.
The City Council approved a $5 ticket surcharge in January 2014 after Mayor Chokwe Lumumba said it would pay for seat renovations and other restorations such as a new air-conditioning system. The surcharge generated a backlash from the arts community so the City Council trimmed it to $3 in October 2014.
Posted below is the annual revenue generated by the surcharge.
2014: $6,060
2015: $100,761
2016: $146,078
2017: $124,918

Sooooooo, where’s that money?
The same place Jackson's Waaer Treatment Operators were? (Gone)
Down a rat hole-
12:16 Don't you know Richards Ticket Contracting got their 10 %
Can you imagine if just 3-5% of that could go into a trust. We may not see it but 30-50 years from now the funding would be there in perpetuity to maintain the building like it should be.
Maybe the Feds can find the money, since they're in town anyway.
With that kind of money Sista Rukia has no excuse for not paying her taxes.
Just move it out of Jackson
