The Brandon Police Department issued the following statement.
On Monday, October 21, 2024, the Brandon Police Department received a call for assistance from the Wake County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina regarding a suspect vehicle involved in a possible kidnapping of a juvenile from their jurisdiction. Officers from the Brandon Police Department located the suspect’s vehicle at a business in Brandon. Brandon officers, working in conjunction with officers from the Pearl Police Department, attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the suspect fled from officers on Interstate 20.After a brief vehicle pursuit, the vehicle was stopped and the suspect, identified as Jerry Carredondo-Rocha, was taken into custody without further incident. The missing juvenile was recovered safe inside the vehicle. Carredondo-Rocha was charged with one count of felony evasion, and transported to the Rankin County Jail. Additional charges from Wake County, N.C. authorities are pending.
