The garbage will be picked up in Hinds County. The Hinds County Board of Supervisors approved a new garbage collection contract for Waste Management today. The contract expired Friday night.
The contract expired March 31 but Waste Management gave Hinds County a 90 day extension. County Administrator Kenny Wayne Jones discovered a second bid submitted by National Collection Services. The company is owned by Lee Bush. Socrates Garrett and Bishop Ronnie Crudup, Sr. promoted his bid. The Board of Supervisors held a special meeting to discuss the contract last Wednesday but recessed the meeting until Thursday. They attempted to hold the meeting Thursday but a quorum was not met.

Unanimous vote? Who supported Socrates?
“Discovered a second bid”
Five years is a long period of time for a contract.
Sounds like they waited a little to late to start greasing some palms.
Now I can take my garbage from Jackson to Hinds Co. property and get it picked up. This is GOOD.
