Sunlight & Disinfectant in Madison County

Sunlight is the best disinfectant and State Representative Jill Ford poured a whole bunch of disinfectant on the Madison County Board of Supervisors at a luncheon Wednesday.

What is interesting is the State Representative says at the end of the video.  Gerald, Karl, and Paul are indeed pushing to split Madison County from Rankin County in the circuit and District Attorney districts and roll into Yazoo and/or Holmes Counties.    The question is will they be able to get the legislature to enact their scheme next year when judicial redistricting takes place.

Gerrymandering is a full contact sport in today's politics. If only they spent as much time serving the public as they do worrying about the next election.

Jill is a realtor. All you really need to know about her.

Anonymous said...

@12:09 Realtors typically work on a percentage commission. I would think someone that has their income directly tied to home values staying high has even more skin in the game than the average elected representative.

A realtor as lawmaker, that's almost as bad as a lawyer as lawmaker.

Madison County BOS is run by Democrats with the help of Steen.

Anonymous said...

That's right, 1:05, let's elect the most uneducated and unqualified crackpots we can find.

Anonymous said...

Pucker factor just went up!
Hahaha!

That’s my Jill! Taking up free rent space in their heads!

Anonymous said...

I'm not a fan of hers nor the Rankin County Machine. But she is spot on here.

Hey jackwagons, Jill Ford is a class act and represents her district honestly and diligently. If she were a plumber, engineer, whatever, you jackwagons would say something similar.

We are lucky to have her in our district. The Madison BoS needs more sunshine and a dose of clorox. Her comments in the video are spot on.

Climb back into your parent's basement in NE Jackson and STFU.

Just ask David Blount who has been hosing the state treasury to prop up downtown Jackson for all these years.

As an attorney, I can tell you that if Madison County is paired with Yazoo and Holmes counties, Madison County is screwed. Gerald, if this is true that you're favoring such a move, then you are screwing your own constituents. The Holmes/Yazoo DA is a liberal and so is the Circuit Court judge. The judges we presently have serving both Madison and Rankin counties are very competent, qualified, and fair judges who are tough on crime. That is not true with the DA and judge over Holmes and Yazoo Counties. And before you liberals scream racism, this has nothing to do with race and everything to do with "liberal and soft on crime" versus "conservative and tough on crime".

Maybe you like Jill, maybe you don't. Maybe Jill does a good job, maybe she doesn't. Maybe Jill shouldn't have said it, maybe she should have. But tell me where she is wrong. She is spot on here. If she is wrong in this instance, show it to me.

Steen goes to my church or did. Something happened and he has been gone in a while. He preys on the elderly and they vote for him. He has always been a moth to close to the flame. Shelton Vance has been out drumming up support from Steen's enemies saying Steen took 10k from Rudy and maybe Rudy built barn behind his house. When Rudy gets back from vacation he has applied for from feds we shall see what Steen has done soon enough. Going to multiple churches and collecting the plate isn’t going to save him from this.

Anonymous said...

Not a fan of how she characterizes supervisors as having possession of a county. You don’t own a county, you are elected officials serving at the pleasure of its citizens.

Anonymous said...

@2:43 pm
Correct! Hope the Feds tracked the deliveries tickets for the barn…
One of those guys will talk.

June 9, 2023 at 3:02 PM, how long have you been living in Mississippi?

Anonymous said...

Y’all need to lay the crack pipe down if you think Madison County Circuit Court is joining another district.

Anonymous said...

For the last 60 years Madison Country should have been the hottest place in the State but the DOJ requiring 2 black supervisors created a mess. All was necessary was buy a third vote on the Board and the 3-2 split has been in place for every. This was started by consultants in country such as lawyers and engineers who made millions controlling the 3 members which was easy for it was really just one.

Anonymous said...

@2;43–“shelton Vance has been out drumming up support from Steen’s enemies” is total BS. Steen is supporting Vance. Look where Vance has some of his signs like the one on Lake Harbor controlled by Steen who works for Morris oil-behind shell station. Steen and Vance are cut from the same double talking ,back stabbing cloth. Keep exposing him Jill!!

Anonymous said...

@1:05 what you meant to say was preachers as lawmakers.

Anonymous said...

George Soros has donated money to at least 3 DA races last time in Mississippi, to the tune of 600k plus-per race. If Madison got split from Rankin we would see Soros money back in play.

Anonymous said...

Steen is a huge disappointment.

Anonymous said...

Hey 2:43 everybody knows Gerald Steen and Shelton Vance are in cahoots. If you want proof look behind the Shell on Lake Harbour that is owned by Steen’s employer. Happens to be a Vance sign right there.

Anonymous said...

I’m NOT a Steen fan and I dont believe Vance is tied to Steen. He’ seems like a smart guy and working for the county, he would know who Steen really is. I sure hope those folks from Ridgeland, Canton and north read some of these threads and come out strong to rid all of us from Steen.

Jill is spot on with her concerns - about the BOS and about the possibility of the Circuit Court district being redrawn and putting Madison with Yazoo and Holmes. That effort has been going on for a good long while with an interesting array of folks for it -- the Blackmons in particular, but also many white Republican-types in Madison. A strange group of bedfellows to be sure.

But where Jill is wrong is that the BOS is not the ones that will make that decision; it is the perrogative and responsibility of the Legislature. Granted, the BOS will chime in, and they don't have to do it as a unity - the two smart, honest supervisors can express their opinion just as Karl and Gerald will claiming to speak for the entire county.

The big quesiton is, where will the 'new' leadership of the legislature be on this when it comes up - probably in 2o25 rather than 2024 as many are saying? Folks in Madison County need to be asking Delbert where he stands on the splitting of Madison/Rankin - as he is the one facing election this August that will have significant say in the process.

And putting him on the spot should be done publilcally and specifically - not allowing a wishy-washy non-answer to the question, as this is probably the most important issue that citizens who are concerned about crime in Madison County should care about. As Jill points out, putting Madison with Holmes will lead to a court system of DAs and Judges equal to what NE Jackson and Clinton have to face in Hinds.

Jill Ford becoming a legislator is one of the worst things that ever happened in MS. People like her are one of the reasons I left. Pushing Tesla out is such a boneheaded move. She gives conservatives a bad name.

Anonymous said...

Mayor Jill? It kinda has a ring to it.

Anonymous said...

As a constituent of both Gerald Steen and Jill Ford, I have dealt with them both. Give me Ford, anytime every time.

Anonymous said...

6:09 is clearly Shelton Vance trying to disassociate from Gerald Steen. Opposite of the truth

Anonymous said...

Ford is genuinely trying to route corruption out. Hard job but I am glad she is trying.

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't a legislator know it's their choice to change court districts, not the Board of Supervisors?

Anonymous said...

Let’s not forget, our Liberal led board of supervisors in madison county, care so little about prosecution of criminals that they have our Madison DA office sitting in the hallway at the courthouse. Their original office flooded and they, the board, have refused to get them a new office. WTF? We are like a 3rd world country.

Anonymous said...

What precisely as a legislator has she done with which you diaagree?
Not seeing many specifics for all the critical comments.

Anonymous said...

If our court system is taken over by the Blackmons and Karl Banks, I’m moving to Rankin County from Madison.

Anonymous said...

Nope. 609 is me and I’m not a Steen fan. I’m a housewife that try’s to keep up with our politics. Watch the board meetings if you want to keep up, It’s not that hard to stay in the know! Read the newspaper, and follow the blogs.

Anonymous said...

Chill y'all. She's passed many meaningful bills---like making the blueberry the state fruit. We will tackle population loss later.

Anonymous said...

Me thinks the democrats won’t and cannot pass a lie detector test. All 3 of them!

Anonymous said...

She never said the supervisors will make this decision. If you boneheads are capable of listening, replay the clip. She said several times, "IF the supervisors can convince the legislature to make this change".

But she, and many of YOU, are wrong in assuming there are two democrats on the Board of Supervisors. There are THREE.

Someone was right in reminding us that she's a realtor, but I would like to remind you that Steen is the one with the For Sale sign hanging around his neck. And every time Banks makes a motion, Steen wiggles that sign at him and grins.

Now that Mary Hawkins has the city attorney's husband running to replace Jones (on the Board), Mary will still have a voice on the Board. But three will still equal five. If this guy manages to get elected and doesn't do what Mary dictates, she fires his wife. Politics is a bitch.

Anonymous said...

If Steen is so horrible, why doesn’t anyone run against him?

Anonymous said...

Everybody above seems to know who Steen really is. But how you gonna get rid of him when nobody runs against him? That would be more a magic trick than Steen and Bank both can pull out of a hat. And they can pull some doozies when Griffin wakes and looks to see how Bank tell him to vote.

Anonymous said...

She didn't say or imply the supervisors in MadCo can make it happen. She clearly said IF THEY manage to convince the legislature to make the change.

It would be a Banks, Griffin, Blackmon dream to have Hinds justice in Madison County. And Steen will trade his support for a six penny nail as long as it comes with six cents.

Anonymous said...

The Tax Collectors position is a working position that has little effect on county politics or power.

Anonymous said...

Mayor Ford? She'll first have to beat (prospective) Mayor Steen. If 'Bicycle Man' ever retires, I hope D.I. beats the socks off Steen.

Anonymous said...

6/9 @ 6:24 - I didn't hear her say this decision is up to the Board. I think she actually said the Board will attempt to convince the legislature to make the decision to split.

Did you mean 'prerogative' and 'publicly'?

Oh, please identify these 'white republican types' who would like to see Madison County paired with Holmes or Yazoo in this discussion.

By the way, the trio of Banks, Steen and Griffin attempting to influence legislative action would carry about as much weight as a fart in a whirlwind.

Anonymous said...

Shelton Vance will buddy up with anyone that can further his cause. He lies like a rug and is a snake. BEWARE

Anonymous said...

Vance has spent his entire career with the state and Madison county. He took a job at Trilogy in the private sector which I'm sure was not a happy place for him. I dont know if he is still with Trilogy or not.

Anonymous said...

7:51 - Trilogy is a cable manufacturing corporation in Pearl, MS. I don't know if Vance is working there or not.

I do know that particular company turns management staff over, on average, once every two years.

Anonymous said...

If Steen is a Republican, why does he vote with the Democrats constantly on split votes? It's because he just CALLS himself a Republican. If you are going to vote with Democrats all the time, just be honest and call yourself a Democrat.

Anonymous said...

@751 pm-You are right. Vance supposedly had enough years to retire from both jobs so why would he not stay as County Administrator making the same salary as Tax Collector. Ive often heard a 3-2 potential vote to be gone is a good reason to retire.@736 June 10-you must be a county employee who had to suffer under Vances leadership.God help the employees in the Collectors office if he gets elected.

Jill knows what’s up! Stay tuned.

Anonymous said...

She is right in her comments. Do not let it become like Hinds county. This is a damn mess. The DOJ always sticks their noses where it doesn’t belong and it has ruined a lot of good things. Hinds was good and now it’s just…well, I can’t say it because I would start a revolt.

Anonymous said...

Jill lives in Madison, not Ridgeland.

Anonymous said...

10:23...Jill knows precisely what Madison's Mayor has told her and nothing more.

Interesting you say 'Stay tuned'. That's Mayor Mary's favorite little slogan. hmmm.

Anonymous said...

@5:50 pm
Let’s put it so you can understand.
Jill knows what’s up!
Some shenanigans are gonna stop.

Jill Ford obviously is satisfied that Madison County has never had an African American Circuit or County Court judge and will never have one as long as Madison and Rankin counties are in the same district.

And don’t forget the all white prosecutors in the district attorney’s office in Rankin and Madison counties.

Jill Ford wants African-Americans to continue to have taxation without representation.

All white is alright in Jill’s world.

Twitter Yappy Dog said...

By the way, I failed to mention in my rant @ 8:16 that I live in Jill Ford's district.

Anonymous said...

8:16 So even though the County is humming along smoothly for everyone at present, you just wanna bump some white folks out to satisfy your racism? Jill has said nothing along the lines of your demented spiel.

You're sick.

Anonymous said...

And, @ 12:20 p.m.: "Twitter Yappy Dog." What difference does it make if @ 8:14 a.m. lives in the district Jill Ford represents. Madison and Rankin counties should be in separate judicial districts. Before I take it back, I'll say it a thousand more times.

And for @ 2:28 p.m., slavery, then segregation, were "humming along smoothly for everyone," until they were abolished.

The votes of African Americans in Madison County should not be diluted by white voters in Rankin County. Maybe, it's time for the Magnolia Bar Association member to litigate judicial districts that dilute the votes of African Americans.

I'm glad @ 2:38 p.m. thinks @ 8:16 a.m. is "sick" for advocating for a diverse judiciary and district attorney's office in Madison. After all: "Madison County is humming along smoothly for everyone at present" and @ 8:16 a.m. "just wanna bump some white folks out to satisfy your racism?"

@ 8:16 a.m. wants judicial districts that are not illegally drawn to suppress the influence of African American voters. Is that too much to expect?

Kingfish said...

over 25% of the voters in Hinds County are white. Whites have no representation on the Circuit bench nor the Board of Supervisors. Did you say a word about any of it?

Maybe no one wants Karl Banks or Ed Blackmon picking their judges and District Attorney? Or letting that crazy DA in Yazoo take over Madison County. She goes through prosecutors more than Jackson goes through police chiefs.

Anonymous said...

It’s not just the Hinds circuit bench, it’s county court, justice court, basically every elected office. Same is true in Holmes and yazoo. Bottom line white people don’t have the market cornered on racism.

Anonymous said...

4:15 Your desperate one-liners are frantic and frayed from the original 'thoughts' you falsely portrayed of Jill Ford's thinking (@8:15)

Sorry, but your hustle won't sell here.

Anonymous said...

One man, one vote. Karl Banks and Ed Blackmon don’t elect judges. Voters do. African Americans in Madison County should be able to elect African American judges should they choose to do so. Instead, the votes of African Americans are diluted by Rankin County voters because of the racial makeup of the district.

Interesting, you asked if I said a word about the current racial makeup of Hinds County Circuit Court judiciary but then point out whites make more than 25 percent of voters in Hinds County. You failed to mention that within the past decade, three whites (Yerger, Weill and Gowan) were elected and/or appointed and served until two of them retired and one decided to seek a seat on a higher court but was not successful.

Meanwhile, African Americans who make up more than 25 percent of Madison County, will never have an opportunity to elect an African American circuit court judge like the 25 percent of white voters who elected three white judges.

Districts can be drawn in a way that the votes of African Americans are not illegally diluted and white, African American, and judges from other ethnic groups can serve as circuit court judges.

4:15 “ I'm glad @ 2:38 p.m. thinks @ 8:16 a.m. is "sick" for advocating for a diverse judiciary and district attorney's office..”

Nope, I said you’re sick for the things you tried to accuse Jill of ‘thinking’.

Anonymous said...

A claim was not made that Banks and Blackmon 'elect judges'. The claim was made, and remains valid, that those two influence every election that takes place in the city and county of Canton and Madison respectively.

Anonymous said...

Are there any differences other than race and cities between Banks and Blackmon influencing elections in Canton and Madison County than Mayor Mary Hawkins influencing elections in the City of Madison and Madison County? Whites can influence elections but African Americans can’t. Go figure!

Anonymous said...

Jill is a straight shooter. Madison County is in a wonderful growth economy. She asks a good question why would you go with a developer over the people?

Anonymous said...

@1:36pm - Jill is a straight moron. And you answered your question yourself… “Madison County is in a wonderful growth economy” Hmmm, how do you think that happens? The people or developers/development?

Don Drane said...

6:01 - Do you always put your mules behind your wagons and your chickens before your eggs?

Developments don't just happen, and developers don't initiate the process. Long before a development is dreamed of, elected officials (who answer to 'the people') set strict parameters for growth and development. They do that through observation of state law, planning, zoning, oversite, funding and recruiting. Then developers fall in line and developments result.

Now who's the 'moron'?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required.
