Am I looking at the address in MSSOS right that the bumfeeders at Stewpot are behind this?

Today is Tuesday, the 4th of April. I guess it's too much to ask for whoever is organizing that little shindig to get the day & date correct.

What about the 70 employees who worked for Waste Management who lost their jobs when the Mayor illegally approved Richards? They lived in the City of Jackson. Most of them were Black since that matters so much this this "everything is about race" city government.

Grizzel and Lee had no sympathy for them, but now they have sympathy for this "black man and this black business"

In the words of Grizzell, this is what contract steering looks like!

The mayor don't play!

Stokes has been mentioned as one of the most viable candidates for mayor who could beat Lumumba. Lumumba is attacking Stokes strongest area of support. Lumumba might suck as a administrator of basic city services, but he is a grade A politician. Lumumba's problem - Stokes is an excellent street-level, retail politician himself.

One reason Stokes election margins of victory are so high is that he listens to his constituent's concerns, and then acts on them. He runs a great 'constituent services department'. I know the general opinion by white folks (I'm one) is that Stokes is a buffoon, but dude gets things done for his constituents and they love him for it. It took me a long time to see Stokes effectiveness as a politician, but it is real and people like it.

Yesterday was the 3rd of April, and it was a Monday. When and on which day is this meeting? I think this is indicative of the competence of that less than stellar trash collection company.

Will Kenny even be there? I'm sure he's still at his wife's side in Hospice in Houston. Would expect him to be there with her and not here.

Seems to me that any lost jobs as a result of Richards leaving would then become available for the new provider who will need experienced personnel to work the territory. Sounds like the organizers are trying to fire up their case with false rhetoric.

Check the average age of a Jackson Resident, I would bet it would be over 50 yrs old. I am a bit over 80 and live on a hill. Any younger person with children would go where the good schools are. The 96 gal garbage cans will be a problem for the older population. Stokes needs to think about that. Virgi Lindsey's support of the mayor in light of Jackson's many problems is baffling. In my opinion, if you think her position is any thing other than virtue signaling you do not know her. I do know her and have never been impressed. Someone needs to get her on the record as to why RD is good. I will listen to facts. RD's track record in other venues does not inspire confidence and does little to explain the mayor's infatuation/obsession with RD. WM must be the mayor's white whale ( for the literate, please forgive the irony).

If there's one thing Stokes knows, it's how to deal with crap like this. I think Richard's just kicked a hornet nest.

1:52 - I can take or leave Stokes. He may be the proverbial brain-trust, but he presents himself as a buffoon. I don't think that being intelligent and acting intelligent is mutually exclusive. You CAN have both. As for what he has done, please educate me. He does the simple things for his simple constituents - puts signs on utility poles, handing out water or food. He plays on the intellect of his constituents, they love him for it, and he keeps getting re-elected. That does not make him mayoral material. Better than what Jackson has now - absolutely, but, then again, that ain't sayin much.

Every city employee who participates in PERS needs to recognize that PERS almost certainly has some money invested in WM, either directly or through multiple mutual funds.

PERS does not have any money in Richards.

Employees need to quit letting the mayor tell them what is in their best interests.

"80 Jacksonians" is Bovin Scatology said...

Any bets that they aren't all "Jacksonians?" I suspect that many are from New Orleans and other cities. But it tugs on the heart-strings, right? Right?

Looks like Stewpot and others are members, but this is not 100% them: https://www.workingtogetherjackson.org/rebuilding

I wonder if all these members approve of this message:

New Horizon Church International, the International Museum of Muslim Cultures, Jackson Medical Mall Foundation, Stewpot Community Services, and Parents for Public Schools

Most of the Richards employees were Waste Management employees. That is a fact and has been said before by the mayor I do believe. I'd have to do more digging than I care to do to prove it. NOW it's an issue. It wasn't when WM was fired. Interesting take Drake Jr.

2:40 - 1:52 here. Brain trust is not a term I would use to describe Stokes. But, describing his performance in office as doing the 'simple things' is not correct either, IMHO. A lot of commenters on this blog haven't been in Stokes ward in decades but I have. They have nice roads, the neighborhoods, which are generally made up of 900 square foot cottages, which are rental properties, are decently maintained. It is odd to see a neighborhood with a majority of rental properties that is well maintained. I know this from being a real estate appraiser for 10 years back in the day. Also, I owned several rental properties in S. Jackson that were originally considered to be better neighborhoods than those in Stokes ward, but Stokes neighborhoods are nicer and safer than those in S. Jackson; better roads, school facilities, medical clinics, etc. Commercial properties are lagging in his ward, but that might be a temporary thing seeing that there is decent infrastructure everywhere else in his ward.

If you remember Stokes also was a Hinds county supervisor for a bit. The man gets government resources into his ward. As big of a buffoon that he was earlier in his career, he has figured out how to marshal gov't resources into the correct places as far as his ward is concerned.

I think his political acumen and popularity is vastly underestimated. He has a good record for delivering services and infrastructure to his ward.

No doubt, someone is going to bring up that he was on TV complaining about an illegal dump site in his ward a few weeks ago. What happened afterwards? It was cleaned up and JPD patrols it and writes tickets for dumping now. He brought a PR campaign to bear and the city reacted in the way he wanted.

Thanks for trying Councilman Stokes. Please stand your ground.

Piss off Stokes, play with fire. But we already know Antard is a political arsonist willing to burn Jackson to the ground if it means getting his way.

5:06 PM, what part of Jackson is Stokes part. Recently I had to go to Jackson. That was the first time I drove through parts of Jackson since I moved out. Some of the streets are not even paved anymore. You can still see a piece of asphalt every once in a while. Some of the signal lights do not work. People have stolen the street signs. Water is bubbling up through the pavement where there is any. Trash all over the place. Burned out houses. Bums on the corners begging for money. Houses falling down around with the people setting out in the yard drinking beer. Sewage running down the street. The smell is sickening.

Jackson is enough to make people ashamed of the capital. Mexico has cleaner safer cities. Do all cities controlled by blacks look like Jackson?

What are the educational requirements to get a good job like riding on the back of a garbage truck and emptying trash filled trash cans?

Anonymous said...

Stokes, the brain trust of Jackson. Think about that for a few minutes.

10:17 it's not a race thing, it's an attitude thing. Get the attitude of possibility, hard work and contributing and your community will succeed. Get the attitude of victimization, laziness and entitlement and your community will fall. Jackson once was a place where working hard created good people, both white and black. But these people saw that the citizens who did not contribute where taking over, so they moved to the suburbs to hang around other contributors. Now all of Jackson is run by criminal elements and ambition-less persons who refuse to improve themselves or the community, and hand over the leadership to those who see how they can manipulate them.

“But we already know Antard is a political arsonist willing to burn Jackson to the ground if it means getting his way.”, I don't know about burning it down, but he's doing a damn good job of helping it fall apart.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
