Madison-Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett issued the following statement.
District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced today that Querjajuan Butler, 24, of Metaire, Louisiana pled guilty to second degree murder for the shooting death of Marquez Lindsey. He was sentenced to serve the maximum of forty years in the custody of MDOC which he will serve without the possibility of parole. His co-defendant Ikela Ephriam pled guilty to accessory after the fact to murder and was sentenced to serve eight years.
On June 9, 2022, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to 111 Whisper Ridge in Canton, MS where a man had been shot multiple times. The victim died from his injuries after being transported to UMC. Investigators identified the suspect as Butler who had come to Canton from New Orleans. Butler had recently began a relationship with Ephriam after the two met in New Orleans, however, Ephraim was also in a relationship with the victim. An altercation between Butler and Lindsey at Ephraim’s residence ultimately led to Butler shooting Lindsey multiple times. Ephriam then drove Butler into Jackson and away from the scene.
Butler pled to second degree murder without a recommendation from the District Attorney’s Office. Judge Dewey Arthur conducted a sentencing hearing, and after hearing from the victim’s mother, handed down the maximum sentence of forty years. Ephriam pled to accessory after the fact for her part in driving the Defendant from the crime scene without a recommendation from the District Attorney’s office. Judge Arthur listened to arguments from both the State and defense counsel and sentenced her to eight years in the custody of the MDOC.
Bramlett stated, “The Madison County Sheriff's Office did an excellent job working this murder case. Our hearts go out to Mr. Lindsey’s family. All this senseless violence must stop. We work with too many parents who are heartbroken over the loss of their children to violent crimes. I hope our communities can work together to stop tragedies like this one.”

Idiots.... how do you pronounce that first name?
A three-way triangle of stupidity. And all for the scent of a doe.
The DA's office has to approved driving from a crime scene?
"...driving the Defendant from the crime scene without a recommendation from the District Attorney’s office."
Not enough time for this callous attack. Should be life. Shot multiple times by a coward.
@8:54
for the scent of a buck-
9:25 - reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, is it?
The only way to get their attention is to put these fools away for good! Hinds County take note! Society does not need this danger to our communities!
10:43 "Put them away!" It cost $75k a year per inmate to "put them away."
A 44 to the back of the head would be far cheaper and a deterrent. Barbaric you say? Take a stroll down West Capital Street tonight and then come tell me about barbarism.
@12:15- could not agree more.
@10:22 - Bucks don't have a scent. It was doe-scent that got the antlers of these two bucks all twisted up.
Not many scents I know of that will get men shooting at and cuttin' each other.
