June marks LGBTQI+ Pride Month -- a month honoring those who are "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex." This ever-expanding rubric revolves around a particular value system entirely embraced by the modern Left: the notion that a person's core identity ought to lie not in the relationship between individual desires and societal duties, but instead ought to revolve around a subjective sense of self, unverifiable by the world at large and justified against all societal roles and rules.
President Joe Biden has said as much from the White House. In a proclamation urging Americans to "wave their flags of pride high" -- it is worth noting that an entire side of the political aisle in the United States now finds the so-called pride flag far less controversial than the American flag itself -- Biden stated, "This month, we remind the LGBTQI+ community that they are loved and cherished. My administration sees you for who you are -- deserving of dignity, respect and support."
Of course, seeing people for who they are typically requires some sort of objective standard; it is literally impossible to see someone for who he is based on his own internal self-perception. This means that Biden is using perfectly Orwellian euphemisms to say that we all ought to validate the self-perception of any he, she, xe or catself.
This perspective is absolutely incoherent. Ironically, this incoherence is exposed by the conflict between the different letters within the alphabet soup of the supposedly sexually marginalized. The case for tolerance of lesbian and gay Americans used to be that biological drives should not be regulated by society at large, because such drives were inborn and innate; that idea at least had the merit of internal consistency. Now, however, that idea has been jettisoned for its logical opposite, the belief that biology has no hold on us whatsoever, and that we ought to be free to define ourselves in opposition to our own biology, changing our gender and sexual orientation at will. Homosexual orientation relies on the continued distinction between the sexes -- after all, why prefer males or females if those sexes are mere social constructs? Transgenderism relies on the absolute malleability of sex. This is the reason that so-called TERFs -- "trans-exclusionary radical feminists! " -- are so bewildered by the suddenly mainstream view that women's rights ought to be extended to biological men.
And yet here we are, told by the White House that we must ignore the internal contradictions of Left-wing sexual ideology, and simply pretend the incoherence away. We are told that we ought to stand for women's rights by the same people who insist that Lia Thomas is a woman; we are told that one need not be a biological female to be a lesbian; we are told that biology dictates behavior, but that biology must never be used as an identifier. None of this makes one whit of sense. But we ought to be proud of it, because after all, it liberates us to celebrate our inner sense of authenticity, free of society's strictures.
There is only one problem, of course: this sort of illogic quickly devolves into anarchy. There is no way to speak coherently with one another absent objective meaning, let alone to reach consensus. Suggesting that the world at large owes each of us validation for our innermost desires is a recipe for complete chaos. Unity can only come from opposition to something -- and in this case, that means opposition to tradition, institutions and the roles that actually facilitate human flourishing.

Sick, perverted and demented society!!!As the brilliant Thomas Sowell said, "we were born ignorant but we are not born stupid! Much of the stupidity we see today is induced by our educational system, from the elementary schools to the universities..."
Half the nation is psychologically impaired because of poor or non-existent parenting throughout their lives, and the politicians are leveraging the mass psychosis (with overwhelming support and encouragement from the media) to divide Americans.
If you don't have a conflict, you don't have a boogeyman to "fight" (which politicians need) ...or a story (which the media needs).
Biden panders to and embraces another cult, thereby ensuring a group-victory in the voting booth.
The social engineering experiment that was brought to us by the progressive left had to have one person to lead the way and that person was none other than Obama. We as conservatives know that this experiment is wrong and it should cease before it erupts into something this country has not seen before. We are being attacked on all sides with the left who are supposed to be about freedom of speech and treat others with respect leading the charge by shouting us down, cancelling us and calling us racists. I stopped purchasing from corporations that openly support them and have written numerous times to each ad sponsor on television about the commercials with 13% representing 90%. Enough is enough. I don’t like sitting with my grandchildren and a commercial comes on with two men or two women kissing each other.
What it actually amounts to is the destructive recognition that political power dictates truth no matter how absurd. If a group wields political power in a republic they can reinvent facts to suit their own fantasies, fetishes, illnesses or desires. They only need some selfish political hacks to accept their favor and support in exchange for advocacy of their agenda of confusion. The weak politician's job is to pander to them and satisfy their demand to be validated. The problem is, a fact is still a fact and ultimately the truth will prevail. Truth is relative to a politician anyway. It also means that they are leading society down an endless path that leads to nowhere but destruction. Note that every year or so they add another category to their list of mental conditions (+ for now, who knows what's next).
The Dem Socialist party is made up basically of everyone who cannot not succeed or assimilate into our society. Those that can't keep up intellectually or morally or attain the level civility one needs to live in a society based on freedom, law and order, personal responsibility and their achievements being based on ones merits are their "core".
If you don’t like Pride, just go about your day. Damn, is it that difficult?!?
And all this from the FrEe SpEeCh crowd too. How ironic.
It used to be just LG, then LGB, then LGBT, then LGBT+, then LGBTQ+, and now it's LGBTQI+. Who makes up this crap?
Gender dysphoria is a pandemic.
@10:35 AM, if you don't like the comments left here at JJ, just go about your day. Damn, is it that difficult?!?
No one "loves and cherishes" a "community." Individuals love and cherish other individuals. So if a man loves a woman or a man or a woman loves a man or a woman or even a person undecided in their own mind about who they are loves another person similarly undecided, I'm fine with that. What I and a whole lot of other people are not fine with is attempts to force us to "understand" and "approve" of whatever choices others make. It has nothing to do with sexuality, it has to do with none of my business.
If a casual acquaintance tells me their adult child who lives elsewhere and who I'll likely never meet (or if I do, it'll be a very superficial, casual occasion) just got married elsewhere, I don't "approve" or "disapprove" regardless of the sexuality of the couple, I just don't have any substantive emotion at all. If all directly involved are happy I'm happy for all in the broad human sense but beyond that it really isn't my concern. But if they were to attempt to force me to endure an hours-long video of the entire day's events, along with a comprehensive recap spanning from the minute the happy couple met until they left for the honeymoon, now we have a problem. And it has nothing to do with the couple's sexuality, physical traits, or anything about them at all.
I guess it all boils down to I agree with the idea that what consenting adults do among themselves in the privacy of their own bedrooms, living rooms, or sex dungeons is none of my business...so why must I hear about it at all? "Don't ask, don't tell" - I _DIDN'T_ ask so why in the hell do you insist on telling me?
I don't think emotionally healthy and mature people are "proud" or ashamed of who/what nature made them. I'm neither proud nor ashamed of being straight, having brown hair, blue eyes, etc. because none were accomplishments or failures on my part so there is nothing to be proud or ashamed of.
@12:04 PM - excellent!
This may be Shapiro's dumbest moment and that's saying something.
Gay Pride celebrates all those who helped make it possible for LGBTs not to pretend to be something they aren't and the right to enjoy the same rights of citizenship as all other law-abiding citizen have.
That includes being able to turn off your television set and select programs that are child appropriate.
Those of you duped by The Family Protection Act so you could " censor" more easily were so duped and refused to be warned . You did, however, make one Mississippian who formed a group to push "family values" wealthy as well as a few evangelicals. You eliminated FEC regulations and now complain about political nonsense on the air and seeing something you don't like EVEN though you get warned in advance and did when we had "free airways".
Amen 12:04.
I've never understood this "pride" hoopla,
and probably never will.
I love women, but I don't need a flag or parade to prove it.
Actually, I see no reason to be proud of my love for women.
(Although sometimes impossible to live with ... I still love em').
And speaking of parades, why has the Gay Community allowed
the Freak-Show activists to take over their honest complaints ?
Over the years, I've worked with many.
All were very productive/valuable employees
and pleasure to work with ...
More than a few were also embarrassed when the crazy element started marching around the country almost naked ... while wearing spiked dog collars and waving rainbow flags.
11:21:
I suggest you read about the Paradox of Tolerance and comprehend it (if you can).
So, 12:04...why are you ashamed of your shoe size and the length of your thumb. Give it up, dude!
9:29 has nailed it. Every person who supports Biden and the regime is a member of a special cult, to which the party has figured out a way to pander. Pander and satisfy the cult and promise them acceptance, inclusion and fanfare and you own the cult's vote. Any questions?
12:04, responding to 4:21:
I don't think we are on the same page at all.
Kingfish keeps letting you make fools of yourself. It’s hilarious !
Live your life and let others live how they wish. God gave each of us the ability to make choices.
Whether or not they politely and politically-correctly mask it, there are simply many perfectly decent, ordinary folks who cannot suppress the visceral response of “ewww, ICK!” when confronted with the idea of men having anal sex. Two women doing whatever it is they do is less revolting to most, for the obvious reason that this does not (I guess?) involve an orifice designed by nature for quite another purpose. Sorry, but tell me I’m wrong. All that said, hey, do what you just MUST do, but please excuse those who don’t want it shoved in their faces on every social platform. Dignity and discretion, please!
Seriously, who else includes their age and colleges he attended in their byline? “Ben Shapiro, 38, is a graduate of UCLA and Harvard Law School.” When you have to hide behind those to give you merit, it makes the reader seriously question the worthiness of the words you’ve written. What a clown.
