Governor Tate Reeves issued the following statement.
Governor Tate Reeves announced that Mississippi joined as part of the newly created American Governors’ Border Strike Force, a partnership among 26 states to better secure the Southern border. The action comes in response to President Biden’s failed border policies which have allowed for an immense surge in illegal migration, drugs, and cartel violence.
The newly announced Border Strike Force is a joint commitment across states to strengthen law enforcement and develop strategic policies that will enhance a unified state response to illegal activity on America’s Southern border.
“Border security is national security. Criminals, drugs, and human trafficking don’t just stay in our border communities. They make their way to every single state in our country,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “The federal government has fundamentally failed to secure our Southern border. With Joe Biden refusing to step in to stop millions of illegal aliens from invading our nation while drug smugglers run rampant, states will seek to disrupt and dismantle these cartels. We’re all border states now, and we’re going to protect ourselves.”
Our Southern border has been left unsecured while the Biden Administration has attempted to reverse the positive gains made by President Trump.
Since taking office, Biden’s disastrous policies have led to 2.3 million encounters with illegal aliens. In that same time period, an estimated 600,000-plus illegal aliens have evaded Border Patrol and escaped. Biden policies have handcuffed U.S. Customs and Border Protection and hindered them from fulfilling their statutorily mandated duties.
Human smugglers and criminal organizations have taken full advantage of our open border and have flooded our communities with billions of dollars worth of drugs and caused a humanitarian crisis as they attempt to traffic individuals through horrendous conditions.
In Fiscal Year 2021, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported more than 5,400 pounds of heroin, 97,000 pounds of cocaine, 190,000 pounds of methamphetamine, 11,200 pounds of fentanyl, and many counterfeit pills or other drugs interdicted crossing our Southern border. This is enough fentanyl to kill 2.5 billion people.

How about a strike force (or two) in Jackson?
Don’t you republicans understand that Hispanics will soon outnumber blacks in America. Their US citizen children will outnumber all other minorities combined. You need to be building bridges, not burning them and alienating yet another minority voting bloc. There are already 55 million LatinX people in the United States.
Glad to see Tater is more concerned about the Texas border than the crime occurring within his own borders.
Good deal to see the National Guard being used correctly.
From thehill.com
The 26-state “American Governors Border Strike Force” is aimed at enhancing intelligence sharing, combating human smuggling and drug trafficking through improved interdiction between Interstates 10 and 40 and keeping an eye on cybersecurity issues, among other goals.
Translation: 'missippi gonna stop more Mexicans on the interstate.
Tate: We gonna storm the border!
I find it hilarious as a 1st generation American raised 20 miles outside of ElPaso Texas that the Democrats complained about trump creating this law title 42 and now democrats freaking out as Biden is set to remove it. Hispanic south Texas is voting republican in large numbers now due to open borders. Not to mention most of them are extremely Catholic and very conservative culture wise. Americans can’t seem to understand why Hispanics oppose abortion and gay marriage. It’s culture and they’re ultra conservative. Democrats will be building the border wall soon I guess.
and referring to them as LatinX is the way to do it.
Typical Repub. propaganda, conflating drug smuggling (which everybody is against), with desperate people seeking asylum from countries where they are persecuted. These people are not “criminal invaders.” They are people who are looking for a chance to raise their families in peace, free from oppression, just like our ancestors were.
@9:28
If they cross the border illegally then they are by definition, criminal invaders.
They are rushing here because the average SNAP/EBT benefits that they can qualify their children for, will feed an the entire household for a month. They are taking advantage of a social benefits system that is already in bad shape and that they contribute absolutely nothing too!
Dear genius @9:09 - hispanics already out-number blacks and have for some time. Have you been out of the country for 50 years or so?
hispanics are 18% of the population - blacks are 13%
What a joke. I drove up the Natchez Trace after the last big storm. Large teams of Hispanic men in US Parks Service trucks were cutting up the trees and clearing the debris from the roadside. They were obviously working as federal contractors, and not actual Parks Service employees. And these were fresh off the boat. Not a one of them was over 5 feet tall, so not Texas Beef fed hispanic natives.
how about crime in Jackson? it’s almost Cinco de Mayo. I’d like to have a taco and a margarita..
Trying to keep out 75% of the manual labor for the construction and sweat house style food processing jobs. Not to mention the landscaping and house cleaning workforce. Those stinking jobs are too low for us proud Americans. Oh well. Back to reality.
"Latinx" = woke, progressive, liberal, left-wing, bull shit, fucked up, psychobabble.
9:28 : Setting aside the fact that crossing illegally is criminal, MOST of these folks end up living in worse conditions(see Clinton/Jackson see Browning Dr. mobile home slums as one example) and being oppressed as borderline slave labor by their own people in eateries and various other business. Then there are the ones who come here...make money and promptly send it back home...once they are set they return. As our government continues to function as bad as theirs...they will eventually quit coming . The gravy train has long since gone over the cliff.
simple pandering. what he does best.
"LatinX"? Please put your phone away during English class.
LatinX, huh? They hate that.
Hmm, the Governor of a state that is either at or toward the bottom of every good list and at or toward the top of every bad list is, instead of taking care of issues at home, engaging in political grandstanding because he doesn’t like the current federal administration.
Our state politicians have been doing this since the mid-nineteenth century, and look where it got us. When will the voters here ever learn that politicians like Tate are the problem.

Illegal aliens are not entitled to SNAP/EBT.
Indeed, they do not qualify for social services benefits until accepted into the USA legally.
The qualifications for every social service eligibility is on government websites for everyone to read.
Try that first.
And, if you want to white folks to remain a majority, you might want to explore the reasons that white males are not as fertile or having as many children. It's not abortion which was, even when legal, a small percentage of the population.
And, no, it won't help to lie on your back naked in the sun.
Tucker has done his part with 4 children so he doesn't care what you try.
Gosh, when should you actually start reading, you'll learn there are two very good groups to blame for your sterility. The Federal Government has intermittmently tried to help, but you'd rather believe myths.
Hint: there are specific toxic materials that can cause sterility in men, but what's a few dead sperm when there's money to be made?
Seeking asylum - where one presents himself at the border - has never been illegal.
10:45 : Like Tate ? Man, they are ALL like Tate. Doesn't matter party or color. All grifters...ALL lie.....All pander for easily stolen funds...voters of all races and creeds are left with what ? The fall of man is upon us.
10:45 Mississippi is in the top ten in job growth. I think anytime these liberal think tanks do one of these polls they automatically put Mississippi 49th or 50th. The polls don't bother me because we have one of the lowest cost of living in the nation. Our people still believe in Christian values and we are always charitable to our neighbors. Don't care where we are in the polls as long we continue to have what it is that we have. If Mississippi doesn't suit you then maybe you should move to California.
@11:03
I said their children. Yes, their anchor babies are US citizens and get EBT.
You wrote all that bullshit based on a false premise that only exists in your own brain.
Putinize Northern Mexico to prevent tens of thousands of Fentanyl deaths in USA. Illegal invader peasants mule fentanyl, meth, coke and sex slaves to pay off their coyote smugglers.
Hispanics are flocking to republic party. Not just the Cubans that are in Miami and always have voted conservative. Hey they named the main road through Cuban neighborhood after Ronald Reagan. South Texas is going red also. Democrats are way too liberal for Hispanics.
Great! Now we have a Border Strike Force! But what does that mean? Does this indicate that the Governors of these states will mobilize the National Guard to help secure the border? I'm not being sarcastic, BUT if all this means is that the Governors will form a committee to talk about the problem then this means NOTHING.
Because of Biden's policies and inaction, our border patrol are extremely overwhelmed and frankly outgunned by the cartels. Its time to secure the borders by all means necessary - including mobilizing state national guardsmen with weapons to close the holes in the border. A few months of strong deterrence by soldiers holding weapons and preventing them from entering the country can change things.
"LatinX, huh? They hate that."
I can imagine the conversation:
"They hate that..."
"You spoke to all of them?"
"All of them who?"
"You just said, 'They'..."
"No, not 'they'-THEY, just them..."
"What?"
"Just Rosario"
"What?"
"They Rosario...they identify as them..."
"What?"
"Rosario...I only said I spoke to them and they said they didn't like it."
"Wait, what? How many people did you speak to exactly?"
"All one of them."
"What?"
"What part of "they" can't you understand?"
"All of it?"
NBC News: Many Latinos say 'Latinx' offends or bothers them
Pew: About One-in-Four U.S. Hispanics Have Heard of Latinx, but Just 3% Use It
Yet the use of Latinx is not common practice, and the term’s emergence has generated debate about its appropriateness in a gendered language like Spanish. Some critics point to its origins among U.S. English speakers, saying it ignores the Spanish language and its gendered form.1
Houston Chronicle: Over 90% of Hispanics and Latinos don’t like to be called Latinx
Latinx is a buzzword for individuals of Latin American origin in the United States, yet the use of “Latinx” as a noun to identify people of Latino and Hispanic heritage is not universally welcomed.
WSJ: ‘Latinx’ Isn’t Popular With Latinos
Axios: Latino groups want to do away with “Latinx”
Elected officials, a major newspaper and the oldest Latino civil rights organization in the U.S. have all spoken out strongly in recent weeks against the continued use of "Latinx," the gender-neutral term promoted by progressives to describe people of Spanish-speaking origin.
I would love to see the reaction from Danny Trejo ... if some little woke delicate (insert whatever pronoun) "thing" referred to him as a "Latinx".
Tater really thinks someone is going to pick him as a running mate.
As a law-and-order-minded constitutionalist who absolutely wants the border strengthened to minimize illegal entries, I also recognize that border issues are squarely the domain of the federal government. States have no constitutional role in border protection. The legitimate, lawful choices are twofold: 1) push for a constitutional amendment and/or laws that allow states to enforce border policy; and 2) elect national leaders (president and Congress) who will respect existing policy and law. But an end-run around current law and constitutional duties is never the proper approach. Otherwise, you lose any leverage and moral superiority when your political foes do likewise. This is just pandering to a subset of voters.
10:17, I too am against illegal immigration, but if you think most of them who come here end up living in worse situations than they came from, you have a screw loose.
If most of the people who comment here stopped watching Fox News, this would be a quiet forum indeed. Parroted talking points expose lack of brainpower and original thoughts, whether they come from the left or the right. Where are the people who think from themselves and consider each issue on their own whether than marching in lockstep with the groupthink of either of our rotten political parties?
Where are the people who think from themselves and consider each issue on their own whether than marching in lockstep with the groupthink of either of our rotten political parties?
Since you, yourself, just parroted talking points it is extremely obvious that you can't answer the question.
" If most of the people who comment here stopped watching Fox News, this would be a quiet forum indeed. Parroted talking points expose lack of brainpower and original thoughts"
Well 4:20,would you agree the same thing exists with those that are glued to MSNBC every night ?
You know, if people here would focus on economic issues, as opposed to trying to cancel others for the non-crime of saying “Latinx,” we likely wouldn’t be amongst the very poorest states.
But here we are, still focusing on non-issues and choosing to be last. Hope your grandkids decide to come visit every once in a while after they leave because of the lack of meaningful opportunities.
Fixing illegal immigration is an easy fix. AZ actually has the law on the books, but of course it is not enforced. Any business found to employ illegal immigrants is seized and forfeited. Fixed, overnight. If one can lose their business, livlihood for employing an illegal immigrant, they wouldn't do it. No jobs means no one comes here illegally. That will never happen as the Republicans and their buddies in big business have no desire, in fact cringe at the thought of cutting off illegal labor. So instead, we get pandering stupdidity, like Tater.
Well 4:20,would you agree the same thing exists with those that are glued to MSNBC every night ?
ABSOLUTELY! As I said, "Parroted talking points expose lack of brainpower and original thoughts, whether they come from the left or the right."
The "Nancys" became the "Jennifers" who became the "Karens" who now for the current generation are called "Emilys".
4:16 : Everyone here has a screw loose somewhere. I didn't say ALL i said most and I pointed out OUR failing system. Like I said...go check out Browning St.

In elementary school we'd just say they had " cooties". In junior high we'd have called them " scodes"( yes , colloquial).
But, once we became mature adults, we stopped silly name calling and described the behavior we found objectionable. We stopped stereotyping any group by their crazy few.
The emotional immaturity and pand the ignorance of government, be it function or parameters of power, and such poor math skills that simple percentages can't be calculated is dismally discouraging.
It's turned us in to squabbling, busybodies and troublemakers. You know that old lady in town who was a mean gossip and complained about everyone and everything. And, who invented gossip out of whole cloth with her speculation, when nothing was happening.
Really,my grandchildren's junior high editorial column is more mature.
I’m just glad you guys have a solution for the border issues and all of Mississippi’s problems. You should run for office. Wait, it safer and easier to keyboard bash the current levels of administration (State and Federal). Keep fighting the good fight Champs.
