Bust of the Day

 MBN issued the following statement.

On, Friday, April 8, 2022, through Sunday, April 10, 2022, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN), in conjunction with several other participating agencies conducted a Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) operation in the city of Jackson, with an emphasis on the Capitol Complex Improvement District.

“This operation is a major loss for criminals in Jackson, but a major win for our capital city and its residents,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “We’ll continue to do everything we can to keep illegal weapons and drugs off our streets and out of our neighborhoods. Thank you to the Department of Public Safety and our law enforcement partners for another job well done.”

As a result of this operation, over $17,500 in cash and a multitude of drugs were seized. The drugs seized consisted of 6.6 pounds of marijuana, 4.4 grams of crack cocaine, 7 dosage units of Hydrocodone, 36 dosage units of Oxycodone, 348 dosage units of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) tablets, and 4 pounds of MDMA powder.

“The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics has demonstrated its commitment to keeping Mississippians safe time and time again,” said Commissioner Sean Tindell. “These operations are further proof of that. We can and will continue to do whatever it takes to keep our citizens safe.”

This operation also seized 28 weapons including high powered rifles and 292 illegal bottles of alcohol.

49 individuals were arrested, and the charges include:

- 35 Possession of Marijuana
   -8 Felony Charges
   -27 Misdemeanor Charges
- 2 Felony Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute
- 5 Felony Possession of MDMA
- 1 Sale of Methamphetamine
- 3 Possession of Alcohol with the intent to sell without a license
- 2 Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- 2 Possession of a firearm (2 stolen)
- 2 Possession of cocaine - 1 Public Intoxication

- 1 Resisting Arrest

- 1 Suspended License

- 1 Felony Eluding

- 1 Possession of Paraphernalia

- 1 Failure to Yield to Blue Lights

- 1 Reckless Driving

- 9 Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

“This is an ongoing operation, and more arrests are anticipated,” said MBN Director Steven Maxwell.

Multiple agencies assisted in this weekend operation, including Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Mississippi Capitol Police, Jackson Police Department, Hinds County Sheriff's Office, National Guard Counter Drug Program, Mississippi Department of Corrections, Alcoholic Beverage Control, Rankin County Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Kingfish note: Law enforcement sources said a full-automatic rifle was among the weapons seized.  The operation was conducted partly because of Jackson Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth I. Stokes notifying MBN of dope boys operating in his ward.

Didn't know folks still smoked crack. This may explain why my youngest is acting so dumb.......and I thought it was weed.

Told y’all them dope boys had full autos.

I always wonder how much cash disappears between the time of arrest and the time it is turned in.

UMC style self-aggrandizement for a pretty minor bust of a rival to the established syndicate.

JPD saying a full auto weapon being recovered does not mean a fully automatic weapon was recovered. The second photo contains an AR-15 with a little red tag on it that instantly identifies it as having a binary trigger installed. That isn't a machine gun. It isn't fully automatic. JPD is just full of people who try to enforce laws they don't understand.

That explains why I saw some LEO agency transporting their “Rook” armored siege vehicles on a trailer yesterday.

@12:44
Trump admin ruled a bump stock is full auto.
Biden admin ruled that FRTs are full auto.

Get with the program.

I would like to Thank all the agencies involved in this operation. My question now is how long will this operation go on.In the past they will start these operation and stop, then when there's a lot of killings and shootings that's when Law Enforcement comes out. I truly know that the Police can't be in all over the city at one time, but it would be nice to have this type of operation to continue.

@12:54. Not to be pedantic but an agency ruling is not the same as a change to statute. Many of these agency rulings go away when faced with judicial scrutiny and agencies are terrified of Chevron Deference going away if they press their luck.

Great news, but just when Mr. Stokes had moved to the top of my favorites list, he has a target on his back. But it may have already been there; he seems fearless.

Could we get the cowboys off Capitol Street? And Northside Drive? Spike strips, please.

I am curious about the 292 illegal bottles of alcohol
Does that mean moonshine? I really wish they would elaborate!

Total and complete waste of time and resources. These people have no fear of jail. It is not a deterrent to them.

They need to spend their time and resources on continuing road blocks throughout the city. Stolen tags, no insurance, no DL, stolen vehicles, outstanding warrants, past due fines. Do something to raise income for Jackson.

@1:46
You can go be the test case. Open carry with both your illegal bump fire stock and your illegal binary trigger. Install your illegal solvent trap too, for extra measure. The rest of us will watch you exercise your rights.

Anonymous said...

Binary triggers are not illegal.

Anonymous said...

@2:12. Bumpstocks were ruled on 3-25-22 in the 6th Circuit. Binary triggers are not and have never been federally illegal. A solvent trap suppressor is also perfectly legal if you have an approved ATF Form 1 for it. Open carrying such a firearm would certainly draw negative public attention and law enforcement scrutiny but by statute is most likely not illegal.

Great job! The CCID is the only hope for a nice area in Jackson.

"Trump admin ruled a bump stock is full auto.

Binary triggers and Forced Reset Triggers (FRT) are somewhat different. Binary triggers are actually "fire on pull, fire on release". Forced reset triggers fire and continue to fire as long as trigger is held back.

Not showing the ammo seized.
Ukraine could sure use those guns.

All the money and proceeds from selling their legal stuff should go to the prison coffers where these pond scum will be housed to defray the cost to the taxpayers.

Time was, this website would offer us a "Bust of the Day" (though not daily) that was worth clicking on. Jackassery. ( o )( o ) Ahh, those were the days....

What a waste of resources. If you want to get the criminals off the street, legalize it and tax it. It’s a very minor bust and the void will be filled within a week. Stupid policy.

Kingfish said...

So meth should be legal?

These guys were literally operating a drug store in the hood. The "store" looked like a convenience store from the outside buuuuuuuuuut there was no inventory inside but drugs of the street-pharmacy variety.

Anonymous said...

@Kingfish
There is no excuse for any prohibition as long as alcohol is legal. Full stop. Simple as.

Anonymous said...

That is the UGLIEST AK I’ve ever seen. And by the way what in the hell is MDMS or whatever they refer that to? Too many names for drugs these days. I like Single Malt Scotch, Single Barrel Bourbon, Double Oake Bourbon, Small Cask Reserve…. I guess according to 4:29 we need to legalize meth. You don’t see bourbon sippers toting illegal weapons and scales. I’m just curious what they were doing with illegal whiskey.. I guess they have no class

350 tabs of ecstacy and 4 pounds of powder sound pretty major to me, for street-level dealers.

T Webb said...

Kingfish, can you elaborate more on the details of the "store"? What type of store was it pretending to be? What area of Jackson? That's wild.

Anonymous said...

@4:29, Are you suggesting that everything be made illegal. Can you imagine the **SH**Show that would cause.

Anonymous said...

I know the perps were terrified of the Jackson judges. They probably did get out until late Monday afternoon.

Some hippies in "The Fondren" and in "The Bellhaven" believe getting stoned is a Constitutional right. I would not object if their toad licking, shroom gobbling, coke snorting, crack smoking, heroin shooting hijinks occurred in isolation, away from minors and thoroughfares, totally self financed including medical consequences and was never associated with crime.

Anonymous said...

5:12, MDMA is "ecstacy," and it's been around for a while.

And yeah, we never see drunks with guns that use them in illegal ways. Except maybe domestic violence, manslaughter, aggravated assault, felony threatening with a firearm, and just generally being as asshole.

Anonymous said...

@5:12 PM
Were you drunk when you made your post?
How many people have been killed by drunk drivers?
How many murders committed under the influence?
How many abused and neglected children?
How many rapes involved alcohol?

So much violence and social destruction is rightfully blamed on alcohol.

A certain former deputy nervously checking Bust of the Day...no doubt pheels a lot better when he doesn't recognize himself or anyone else as being featured in Bust of the Day.

Did the Roses $199 MAK-90 have a third pin? Or was it the binary trigger AR? Bump stops and Binary are not full auto unless you’re brain dead and/or need to strike fear in the brain dead. Go shoot full auto and then go shoot a bump stock or binary and you’ll see the big difference, I don’t care who was President or whatever idiots are running the AFT say. Surprised JPD didn’t throw the demilled AT-4 tube in there for more scariness.

In court those illegal bottles of booze will be hand sanitizer.

Anonymous said...

where are the mugshots?

Anonymous said...

Where are the pictures of the 49 busted perps ?

Anonymous said...

@8:04
You clearly miss the point, genius.
There is no prohibited or controlled substance that you can name that is more destructive than alcohol.

Kingfish said...

I've asked. They aren't releasing names yet.

Anonymous said...

9:56 : Names and pics are usually click ready a day later. Someone in the group of 49 must be kinfolk to a bigwig.

Anonymous said...

"There is no prohibited or controlled substance that you can name that is more destructive than alcohol."

On a widespread, social level, that is probably true. On an individual, per-user, level, heroin or fentanyl are far more deadly for an individual. I have signed several death certificates for individuals who overdosed on heroin or fentanyl; none for an overdose of alcohol, although I know that has occurred.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
