Was at the McD's this am on County Line Road while heading to work when one of the 4 horsemen approached me asking how to get to Lauderdale County. Told him to go to Rt 55 go south to the stack and go east. Since it was this am I told him and his buddies to ride toward the big yellar thing in the sky. Keep going and if he makes it to Cuba Alambamer, they need to turn around and come back a bit. Hope ya'll ahve a great Easter. I'll wave at ya while driving by.
@10:20, don't quit your day job. You are no Larry David.
The large number of military and healthcare workers living and working in Metro Meridian are going to cause a huge spike in infections and deaths.
Appears that Hinds alone is driving 9% of statewide infections. No doubt that is Jackson. I'd guess that Canton is driving the Madison County infection rate too.
I suspect rate-of-infection disparities among groups are probably due to differences in behavior; disparities in outcomes (deaths) are mostly due to co-occurring health problems, which are also largely (not entirely) due to behavior. Either that or COVID-19 is racist.
Rankin + Madison + Hinds = 318 cases.
Folks here might want to go shopping in Sharkey County (3) or Green County (1). I wonder if either have a Walmart? Probably not.
10:38: The military isn't the problem. They are wearing masks and under orders and mostly stay on base. The Navy/Marine Air Station is secure. Better look at the natives.
Why don't their charts have overlays comparing to flu and car wreck deaths, since everyone knows those are much worse?
Let’s be honest: the reason blacks are dying more than others is that have diabetes and are overweight. It has nothing to do with lack of access to healthcare. It has to do with too much access to McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and other all-you-can-eat buffets.
Remember when Bill Maher was called out and ridiculed by James Corden & others for fat shaming? Well, like Bill says: “maybe we should fat shame more!”

@11:24, yeah they have it under control. Except they dont, and our readiness is in jeopardy because it is spreading like wildfire through our Atlantic and Pacific fleets.
Just like Yellow Fever and just like Spanish Flu. The US Military is going to spread Covid-19 around the planet because the UD military is all over the planet.
11:25 AM, because if they added those statistics it would take away from the media’s ability to keep the sheep frightened and under control while the government takes away more of their rights under the guise of protecting them. Wake up people, there is more to this than just a health issue.
During this time of unprecedented crisis, tens of thousands of kids are stuck at home with seemingly nothing to do. Parents, here's an idea aimed at your teenagers - introduce them to WORK around the house. Show them what a lawnmower is and how to use it along with edgers, string trimmers, and hedge clippers. Introduce them to a paint brush, a rake, a shovel and a wheelbarrow.
11:06 - Might it be that Hinds is driving 9% of infections because it has approximately 9% of the state's population?
One problem is that other races are 0% of deaths while 10% of infections. They are not pulling their weight and need to contribute to the death total. Some of them need to take one for the team and make that sacrifice.
@12:17, I tried that. My kids called MDHS and now we get regular visits from a social worker. It is less trouble to just let the ungrateful little shits grow up to be assholes. Why anyone would want to have kids anymore is beyond me.
If you must go out in public around people wear a mask. There are good videos on YouTube on how to make one easily.
11:25, that’s like saying why fret about 9/11, the flu deaths were more
we are getting the flu deaths, the traffic deaths, AND the COVID deaths
your compassion is duly noted
11:25 AM And as long as we’re comparing apples to oranges, might as well include gun violence in that list
@12:17 you get a slow clap for that one @kingfish “take one for the team” lmao
11:25 and 12:03:
“COVID-19: Approximately 96,787 deaths reported worldwide; 16,686 deaths in the U.S., as of Apr. 10, 2020.*
Flu: 291,000 to 646,000 deaths worldwide; 12,000 to 61,000 deaths in the U.S. per year.”

Make your own charts from this information, based on when the Covid-19 outbreak reportedly began in the U.S..
So the flu is much worse? (Right.)
11:25 here. Sarcasm does not translate well in internet comments. I was actually trolling the flu/car wreck crowd, but obviously missed.
@11:25
In January our grandson came to visit. While here he got Type A Flu, My wife & I got flu shots last October we didn't get sick. Grandson had to stay at our house five extra days and take Tamiflu & Antibiotic, then he could travel back to Texas. Grandson went home, his sister & parents did not get sick.
If it was COVID19, the story would likely be, old fat diabetic grandparents dead, as well as likely contamination of parents & siblings.
Stop feeding the hysteria!
So farting in public is acceptable now?
11:25 am You don't understand how to make comparisons so please stop.
You have the choice to drive or not drive a car. You can take a defensive driving course , not drive in bad weather, maintain your car so it won't fail mechanically, and drive sober.
You can't protect yourself from a person with the corona virus who has no symptoms.
What is it about going from 1 to nearly 2500 cases that prevents you from understand how that would have increased more and would keep increasing in larger amounts if NOTHING was done?
And, we haven't tested everyone.
You really don't understand things well enough to contribute anything worthwhile.
While we are at it, let's end the cold, and the flu too.
No 1:41, that contributes to global warming. You need a couple billion boomers to die off from something before unlimited public farting will be acceptable again.
Did you know that Covid19 is a Genius?
Does one ever say, "Happy Good Friday?"
11:20- you don’t have a clue but you do have racist mentality.
@4:04
I live in the Jackson and see the shopping habits of those people who buy the EBT qualifying PICK 5 processed meats and corn syrup purple drank that qualifies as juice on EBT.
Get a grip. You never see them buy a shopping cart full of skinless chicken, bean sprouts, mushrooms, kale, or broccoli which also qualify for EBT.
It is always garbage food that I'm to supplement with my taxes. I shouldn't have to keep paying for their outrageous medical bills when I have my own due to working two jobs overtime to support my children and fulfill my crippling tax burden.
4:04, which part of my post @ 11:20 do you disagree with and why? Summarily dismissing my statement by accusing me of racism doesn't really add anything to anyone's understanding, which is one of the points I was trying to make.
If you actually have anything to add, other than excusing personal responsibility by casting blame elsewhere, I'd like to hear it. -11:20
Throwing a party on Memorial Day..you just got to stay 6 feet away.
After about a month of this the left discovered, to the amazement of no one, that they could pretend this was a racial thing (as is everything in their world). Let's record education levels and see what we find. No one has done this but it's easy to speculate. People with education are more likely to have jobs they can do from home, have money in the bank that allows them to not work at all, are less likely to have jobs that put them in contact with the public such as cashier, waitress, nurse aide, will pay more attention to the medical warnings and be more disciplined about carrying them out. Now, is there any correlation between education level and race?? People work very hard to get educated because it improves their lives and gives them more choices in life. This virus is not racial at all. It's just another example of how getting more education can improve your life.
Twice now I have seen WLBT post the wrong date when updating the virus new daily totals, TWICE. How do you have a job where you can't figure out what day of the week you are writing about, especially when it's the current day?
...they still haven't fixed it. Today isn't Thursday (obviously).

Good one JJ. Keep calling it the wuhan virus. I wouldn’t give up either even if trump has. You’ll show em.
@2:48, this is what I herad from the president "The germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can't keep up with it ... there's a whole genius to it ... not only is it hidden, but it's very smart."
Thank you, 8:06, for that very interesting perspective. I don't have the wherewithal to investigate how the numbers break down by education level, but your hypothesis makes a lot of sense to me.
It's much easier for me to feel compassion for those whose choices are limited by their education level, rather than simply suffering the consequences of their own bad choices. (I realize one's level of education may be a function of choices, to a greater or lesser extent, but that's a topic for someone else).

It’s time to discuss the real invisible enemy:
Unemployment
It's now Saturday and they are still putting Thursday over at WLBT. Can't help but wonder if WLBT hired some dummies to work there and blew off more competent people.

"...racist thing..."
What should concern everyone as much as it concerns many doctors and healthcare experts is Africa. Africa has one of highest, if not the highest, rate of un-diagnosed diabetes in the world, numerous countries with very high rates of hypertension, and widespread malnutrition. And to date, it also has what would appear to be an impossibly-low rate of COVID-19 reported - numerous countries have less than 100 cases reported. A lot of Africa locked down quickly and there are societal factors that do make it at least theoretically possible that there won't be widespread cases and transmission, so that's at least reason for hope.
However, and I realize this will fall on many deaf ears, but if the worst should happen, compassion and understanding will do a whole hell of a lot more good than racism and ugliness, for both Africa and for those who might be tempted to choose the latter rather than the former. I would remind folks with short memories that when the really bad - 9/11, Katrina, etc. - happens, and when the really good - the Saints winning the Super Bowl - happens, all but the worst of us join together as one humanity to help one another or celebrate with one another. It is well past time for all but the worst of us to join together to help so we can then join together to celebrate. And for those who are Christians, Easter might be the perfect day to start.
I've given 10:15's comment some thought, and here's what I think. Africa is a continent, not a race, though it does have a lot of black people living there. I believe my negative opinions about Africa are mostly based on violent dictators, rampant corruption, warlords, civil war, ethnic cleansing, human atrocities, Islamic militants, famine, drought, and horrendous plagues and pestilence.
Frankly, I think of Africa as a hotbed of human suffering, and much of it appears to be self-inflicted. I've thought it over and I really don't think it's a "racist thing," as the title to the comment above calls it. I do believe the people of Africa are valuable and worthy of help, but I won't do it out of guilt over "racism," and I damn sure don't plan to go there voluntarily.
