Mississippi State Treasurer Lynn Fitch issued the following statement.
Treasurer Lynn Fitch Elected Chair of the Board for PERS
Jackson, MS.
At a
meeting of the Board of Trustees today, Treasurer Lynn Fitch was elected
2017-18 Board Chair for the Public Employees’ Retirement System of
Mississippi (PERS).
“I am honored to have been elected to this position,”
said Treasurer Fitch. “I take this responsibility very
seriously. The current and future retirees of Mississippi deserve our
very best efforts to keep their retirement savings safe and strong.”
Fitch
has served as Board Vice Chair, as well as Chair of the Defined
Contribution Committee, for the past year. She succeeds Dr. Randy McCoy
as Board of Trustees Chair. Kelly Breland, a representative
of State employees on the Board, will serve as this year’s Vice Chair.
“I want to thank Dr. McCoy for his service as PERS Chair,”
continued Fitch. “It has been a true privilege to serve with him
in this capacity. I am looking forward to working with Kelly Breland
and all the Trustees over the coming year to ensure that PERS is on a
steady trajectory to fiscal health.”

Love the quote: "on a steady trajectory to fiscal health." It ain't healthy now and it's just a matter of time until this takes a bite out of the state's butt.
Send her to Washington!
Clang. Clang.
Listen to that can travel down the road.
One captain; two sinking ships.
Amazing they knew how to elect her; understand she hasn't attended enough meetings for the board to know her.
On second thought, maybe that's how she got elected.

That's a good one - ROTFLMAO!!!!!
Well, she ran the State Personnel Board for a short time and Haley sent her over to Employment Security for a few months and she redecorated her offices in her current job so she is definitely a seasoned warrior.
624, if you are going to try to make aspersions, at least try to get the details close to correct.
Charlie got her the gig at Employment Security BEFORE, not after, her trip to the State Personnel Board. And it was there that she redecorated her offices, not at the plush new ES office bldg.
It's down to her and Triple Cheese Tator Raider in the Republican Primary for Gub'nor - who are you going with?
The one that splurged on an office or the one who is giving Mississippi taxpayer dollars away to company's that are not based in Mississippi?
If the Treasurer misses a meeting due to her busy schedule, does the Deputy Treasurer serve as Chair or does the Vice-Chairman move up to act as Chair?
Who cares what the actual time line was for her ascension or which offices she redecorated first? The fact is she's been coddled and led around by Haley and his boy Charlie for more than a decade.
She ain't no Evelyn Gandy. Now there was a woman who deserved to be governor! The country cannot use TWO Nikki Haleys.
