Barber murdered at work.

JPD issued the following statements on Twitter:

27th homicide victim identified as Johnny L. Brown-49. Anyone w/ any suspect information call police at 601-960-1234 or 601-355-TIPS.

2570 Bailey Ave., Just for Kids Barbershop, owner shot multiple times, pronounced deceased upon arrival to UMMC. 27th homicide for 2017.

JPD on scene of a shooting near the 2500 block of Bailey Ave. Male subject shot in the chest. Suspect fled in white Chevy Suburban.

Brown was a former drug dealer.  He went to prison, got out, and turned his life around.   The Jackson Advocate reported in January:

Four years ago Johnny Brown founded "Just for Kids Mentoring," a nonprofit organization to help young men become good and productive citizens.

Brown utilizes his barbershop by the same name as the headquarters to render program services. Through conversations with the young men sitting in his barber chair, he soon discovered that they were in need of guidance counseling, structure and a male figure to bond with as many did not have father figures in their lives.

The Just for Kids mentoring program also provides vocational training in the barbering trades. Young adult students (18-24-year-old) from Jackson State University; and younger kids ages 5 through 14 years old and older kids (15-17-year old) are recruited from the Jackson Public Schools (Hinds County) in the metropolitan area as identified by public school counselors and principals to be at-risk, needing services to channel their activities in a positive direction. Article.

Kingfish note: It gets worse.  The Street Committee says Brown was the uncle of Kingston Frazier.  One police source described the murder as "cold".  Killer just walked in and immediately started shooting.

"Perception of crime."

Just know that to Kali Akuno, Ted Duckworth, Jeff Good and other white members of the GJCC are a greater threat to Jackson than this assassin who walked into a barbershop for children and gunned a man down.

In his words, they are "pointing a gun at the city."

See, the vermin in Jackson despise anything good.

If true, this guy actually WAS turning his life around and making a contribution to society.

As for the perp.."some people, you just can't reach"

Thought the child's murder was gang related.
Now the uncle?
Will be totally shocked if these murders are not gang related.

Would you STFU about "perception of crime"....not clever now, never was! A man was murdered in cold blood and you're trying to be cute!

Kingfish said...

It's true. He was one of those who went wrong, got back on the path, and wanted to help others not make the same mistakes he did.

These shootings are starting to remind me
of the Mexican drug cartels

That is pretty close in proximity to the Jackson Stadium, UMMC, etc. Targeted or not, this is insane. Is this another episode of the Catch and Release program?

How many uncles did Kingston Frazier have?

Not gonna STFU said...

Not trying to be cute. Not even close to my intent. Pointing out that crime in this city is far from a perception. Donna Ladd and other liberals have used that phrase for years (see below) to suggest that crime is less real and more perceived by racist whites who are a-scared of the black boogeyman.

You'll notice that those talking about the "perception" of crime do not work, play, or reside on Bailey Avenue across from the Medical Mall. This barber did, and he was murdered in broad daylight. Indeed he was murdered in cold blood. Perception vs. Reality.

Crime in this city is far from a perception, which is why the phrase is in quotes. Would that you would take similar issue with your buddies at the Fondren Free Music Calendar when they smugly utter this phrase.

Maybe, just maybe, it's time for Kingfish and his merry band of cheerleaders to admit the killing of Kingston Frazier (as well as other murders) and now this one are related and the Frazier and Archie families are knee deep in all this shit.

The boy's murder was not a random act of punks happening upon a running vehicle and taking it for a spin. They were involved at the club where the baby-momma was partying and there are ancillary roots running all over the six block area.

The barber's murder is just another spinoff.

Oh, but wait.....it's all the fault of an incompetent Hinds County sheriff. My bad.

WAIT! Hali Akuno is WHITE?

WAIT! Hali Akuno is WHITE?

No, but my statement was awkwardly worded. Let me try again:

Just know that Kali Akuno considers Ted Duckworth, Jeff Good and other white members of the GJCC a greater threat to Jackson than this assassin who walked into a barbershop for children and gunned a man down.

Hope that's a bit easier to understand. Sorry.

4:51, I would count myself amongst the merry band of one of KF's crew. I'm open to this theory that the killings were retaliatory. What do you think has caused the retaliation?

Kingfish said...

Never said they weren't. There are several theories. One is that it was random. One is that it was retaliatory for something. More information will be provided at the preliminary hearing that takes place later this month.

No one said the murders themselves were the fault of the sheriff. Nice job of trying to put words in people's mouths.

The two deputies were the sheriff's employees. The sheriff has been called incompetent on this thread and others probably sixty times for hiring the female deputy (among other things). She has been cited as possibly being asleep or missing in action. The suggestion has been is she had been on duty where she was supposed to be, she could have prevented the murder. Much, much attention has been given to the sheriff bungling the Amber Alert activation process claiming the boy might be alive had that not been bungled.

And now you say 'no one has said the murder (only one at the time) was the sheriff's fault? Clearly attempts have been made numerous times to suggest JUST THAT!

But, to clarify and restate: First we don't know where the murder of the boy occurred and secondly we're not exactly sure who all was involved or why.

"I'm open to this theory that the killings were retaliatory. What do you think has caused the retaliation?"

Maybe if you will look up the word retaliation something will occur to you. At 11:07; your leader himself says one theory is retaliation. Get him to explain to you the reality of gang retaliation.

My guess is that Michael Guest will "color inside the lines" and will not probe too deeply into the murder of Kingston Frazier. It will be considered to be just a case of the wrong person, being in the wrong place, and the wrong time. Nothing to see here folks. Move along now.

I knew Johnny for about 7 years. All he ever talked about was trying to get his mentoring program off of the ground. I supported his program financially as did other business owners. As a white business owner in the hood, I saw first hand the awful situation that kids are expected to rise above. It is the fault of too many to name here; but, it is an every day reality.

I knew Johnny was on papers; but, so what 75% of all males down there are or have been in trouble with the law. Its a way of life. However, he actually tried to help kids at Powell, Rohan, and other schools in Georgetown and "the bottom." Thats an actual neighborhood in Jackson.

If you are reading this post and your child goes to a good school and does not have to be walked to school on sidewalks littered with broken beer bottles and drunken fools. Be thankful! And consider supporting a group like Operation Shoestring. Yes its run by a bunch of libs; but, they really do great work with young children.

6:34am, did you wake up on the wrong side of the park bench this morning? Or was it a bad night cruising in Smith Park for you again?

Anonymous said...

6:34am, so by looking up the definition of "retaliation," I will see as an example of the word (probably provided by Webster's) used in the context of Kingston Frazier's murder and why his murder was a retaliation of some sort. This will explain everything!! Thank you! Off to the library now, I have lots of buses to catch.

Commenting on the Sheriff and/or HCSO mishandling things is nothing akin to accusing them. You're deranged by drawing such a conclusion.

Anonymous said...

You pricks plus Kingfish posting multiple times as anonymous can do nothing to negate the fact that, considering this murder, this blog has pointed in more directions than Medusa has tentacles.

But, nice to see you all supporting the wrong conclusions. Nothing new here. Kolbs Cleaners does cheerleader skirts at a discount on Mondays. Move on along.

Welcome back old friend. Nice to see you still peddling the same conspiracy theory. Sorry, don't post anonymously. Only ones are under Kingfish. Funny. Sometimes when you accuse me of doing it, I driving or doign something else where I can't type anything. You've never shown any proof, just said the same thing over and over hoping that Goebbel's advice will work for you and as usual, it doesn't. You won't be able to show any proof because it doesn't happen. You just can't stand it that some people might actually agree with me. Of course, they are just pricks to use your language.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
