Friend posted this on Facebook this morning. Confirmed incident with her. Took place last night on Belhaven Street.
"ATTENTION JACKSON!!!! My friend Julie and I just got chased by two men with guns while walking up to my house. One is about 6'2 dark African American, broad shoulders, wearing a grey flat bill, a jacket and white t shirt. The other was about 5'10" skinny, dark African American, white t shirt. There was also a driver. Driving a powder blue, glittery, CRV. There was also a dark red sedan following them. Thankfully I screamed so loud I woke up 3 houses on my street and they ran. Please be careful everybody. That was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me."

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Can't be true. Belhaven has been properly gentrified and is just as safe as anywhere else...
Get ur concealed carry permit. Then take an Enhanced Carry Class. KF can tell you who to use. Using 2 cars they weren't looking to rob you, they were going to take you. "No one is armed to protect themselves from Republicans!"
Time of day/night?
Happened at 12:30am ish.
Do you really want to live somewhere you feel like you need an enhanced concealed carry permit to be safe(er)? Plus, what do you think the guys - with their guns already drawn - would have done had you reached for yours? You're probably alive because you DIDN'T have a gun.
www.safefireshooting.com
Also... little birdie telling me that Regina Quinn is pushing her voters to Chokwe after Lee told her he wouldn't/couldn't guarantee her a position. Chokwe promised a prominent attorney position for her.
Or so I heard....
@3:06 that has to be the dumbest statement i have heard all month. Thank you for making me feel dumber now for reading it!
Exactly, ....You're probably alive because you DIDN'T have a gun. Objective is to catch you off guard. Move to NE Jxn. We protect our neighbors...so help me Glock!! Get it! But seriously...we do!!
Sorry to hear that this happened. Glad that this person and her friend weren't hurt. Hope the police are able to catch the people responsible for it.
3:23
Surely Lee isn't that freaking stupid. Throw Quinn a bone (and I don't mean that in a sexist way) you moron, and tell Harvey you'll toss him some studies to conduct. Otherwise you're going to be crushed by the Lumumba landslide. Which, by the way, I predicted on this site when he was first elected the to Council.
Northeast Jackson is no better than anywhere else in Jackson. You think the street gangs aren't there? Check out the article the other day about the six Vice Lords holding the family at gun point. Or better yet, go to the gas stations in the area and check out the vice lords for yourself. Or their artwork around the area.
The entirety of Jackson is a slum. This 'come to northeast jackson where its safe' is a bunch of lame BS in an attempt to save your property values (they're already gone).
Sounds like a good time to build a house in Belhaven.
Property values, at the 350 plus Whole Food locations in the US, Canada and Britain, increase an average of 17.5% in the 3 mile circle around the stores.
OK haters, pour it on.
Not really surprising to read this. There is no denying that many areas of Belhaven is dark and scary at night, and it's close to where the thugs live. Sounds like a good time to find another place to live preferably somewhere out of Jackson.
3:29; the post by 3:06 makes perfect sense. (I can't stand the F'ing phrase "Spot On"). But I'm wondering about how accurate the observation was based on the fact that it was dark. Why scream? Pop their ass or crank off a few into the air. No way to guess what their motive was. BTW, fuck a permit!
4:54 So buy a few properties near Highland Village - who's stopping you?
Property values, at the 350 plus Whole Food locations in the US, Canada and Britain, increase an average of 17.5% in the 3 mile circle around the stores.
OK haters, pour it on.
Did you read about the District at Eastover? $120MM.
Thanks Baptist in Belhaven...$60MM.
Haters, pour it on.

Just saw WLBT. There was also robbery on Madison St. in Belhaven this week. Man robbed at gunpoint. Young woman in this article was interviewed. She was crying talking about what happened to her. Literally scared the hell out of her. Said she didn't feel safe and was not staying in Belhaven anymore. Smart. Very smart. Also, no police report was filed on this per Bert Case.
WLBT 6:00 news states following the incident and an officer showing up 'no police report was taken or filed'. Vance says "An investigation on that is underway". The feeling of safety is creeping over me.
Have you heard of the new domed football stadium at JSU???
Haters, pour it on.
Have you heard of the new hotel for the Jackson Convention Center???
Haters, pour it on.
Have you heard of the Old Capitol Green project with housing for 4000 and a $17 million parking garage???
Haters, pour it on.
Have you heard of the Farish Street Entertainment District, replete with 17 blues clubs and a BB King's restaurant???
Haters, pour it on.
Have you heard about the black separatist racist that Jackson is about to install as mayor???
Haters, pour it on.
Whole Foods! Whole Foods! Whole Foods!
When I lived in Belhaven, a certain well-known real estate agent would tell anyone in the neighborhood who had been the victim of a crime not to report it to the police, because it would be bad for property values. Screw that. I moved.
Why would this crap-department NOT take this seriously and file a full report? This speaks to the level of unprofessionalism rampant throughout Harvey's command staff. This "We don't need to write that up" attitude is part of the problem. The sooner this five star chief exits the scene, the better. Both surviving mayoral candidates should be pressed to state their intentions. She needs to be a parking lot guard at Bank Plus while I bank at Regions.
Damn, I should have built two stories.
Fools like this one:

OK haters, pour it on.
Live in a world of denial.
May 15, 2013 at 4:54 PM is probably some schmoe who hangs on DJP Cadet Leader Ben Allen's every utterance of BS.
Can you say Mayor Chokwe Lumumba of Jackson, Mississippi. Yup, Northeast Jackson will be asking Ridgeland to Annex them once this clown takes office. You know Lee will not win.
The whole foods and the district will simply become targets for crime. Just like highland village. But thats ok, when your miata gets stolen you have the honest hard working peace officers of jpd coming to save the day. Good luck with that.
If you wouldn't mind staying in your town and shopping at your whole foods, the rest of us would appreciate it.
Is there some mechanism by which the state can de-annex territory from a municipality? Michigan has told Detroit residents they're unfit to govern themselves and installed a trustee. Maybe we can do something similar with Lumumbaland. Breaking the city up is the only realistic option to save any of it.
I hope that Lee will be elected... My instinct tells me that he will be. Why would someone switch from being for Harvey to being or Chokwe? It doesn't make sense.
That being said, there has been a demographic change in Jackson in the past 10 years that few have paid attention to. Black middle class families have started to flee the city in droves to put their children in public schools in the suburbs. This changes the voting base. In the black community this leaves the very wealthy (whose kids are in private schools) and the very poor, and a scarce few in between. Hopefully this shift has not been so dramatic that there are few educated middle class black folk to vote for Lee.
If Lumumba is elected the trends out of the city will hasten. I can tell you that it will include my business... and many others. I chose to keep my business here on purpose- but if forced to it will and can move.
8:49 is totally out of touch. We will never be asked to be annexed by Ridgeland. They are the next Jackson. I'm calling Flowood!
9:42
With all due respect, many people have noticed the middle class black flight from Jackson. It's been discussed here in depth for several years. With the continual lowering of the overall IQ of Jackson, demagogs like Chokewe are a shoe-in. Kenny Stokes ring a bell?
Now, it's apparent that the Clarion Ledger is all in for Lumumba. That puff piece that Jerry Mitchell did over the weekend, and the article this morning stresses that he "stands up to the man". Little to no mention of his RNA days. After all, that was a long time ago, right? All the low info voters looovvve someone that'll "stand up to the man". Say hello to your new Mayor.
I'll be casting my vote for Lee, but that's kind of like tilting at windmills.
'pour it on' indeed. you can pick up houses all day long on/off ridgewood for next to nothing and i suggest you do. an automatic 17.5% profit!
i just want to see you go over on the first of the month in your tweed driving cap and skinny jeans to collect rent...
On a related note, WAPT reported on the early morning news today that, according to K. Stokes, there have been 127 armed car-jackings in the last 50 days. Meanwhile, ChokMe has a pothole plan and Lee is trying to decide if he has ever owned a bidness. "Whole Fools" indeed.
This crap is like a virus that will spread. It ain't going away until you get a good dose of medicine. I prescribe 9mm of glockabiotics, three shots to the head - one day only. Virus carriers typically show the following symptoms - 1) black hair 2) brown eyes - or so says WAPT.
I'm so tired of this "my city is better than your city" immature crap. Seriously, it's like a bunch of 5 year olds arguing whose Daddy is stronger. "MY Daddy is stronger than YOUR Daddy!" "No, MY Daddy is stronger than YOURS! Nanny, nanny, boo-boo!" How pathetic. Grow up. I mean really...what exactly is the purpose in that?
People who choose to live in Jackson do so because that is where they want to live. Those who live in Madison, Rankin, etc. choose to do so because that is where they want to live. We all live in the armpit of the nation, Mississippi....does it really boost your low self confidence that much to argue that your residential zip code is "better" than your neighboring zip codes? Yawn.
I'll vote for Lee & keep my fingers crossed.
My friends & I have had a few discussions re: what will actually happen if Lumumba is elected. He really can't affect us too much. he can't raise our taxes. Our streets still won't get repaved. The police still don't patrol or solve crimes.
In truth, he can't do much to hurt us.
Why move your business? Crime? Seriously? Can you say with certainty that crime will get worse?
Everyone here is super sharp, I can see because they say they are super sharp; no one can say what the mayor of Jackson can do to effect my life.
10:19--don't forget, ALL of Mississippi contributes to the low education/earnings status of its people compared to other states. The recognized professionals/businessmen that post thoughtful comments on this site don't post in threads like this one. The 'if you ain't livin in rankin you ain't thankin' and wannabee suburbanites are just beer guzzling rednecks that barely made it out of one of the choice universities here and while they don't have job descriptions to make them feel important, they can joy in how self-smarted by commenting here, running down their fellow citizen's chosen place to live. The good reality is, Mississippi is still a place where you can price yourself out of having to deal with these rednecks face to face.
Mississippi Products has, what, $3-4 million in annual revenues and a baker's dozen of employees. The idea that Lee is some high powered and deeply experienced business whiz kid is pure myth.
Oh no, that cannot be happening.....According to the Jackson web site, there has been 0 crime since March 3, 2013....!!!
Haters. How about the story on the "District at Eastover"?
They're building a red light district in Eastover? Who knew?
Yes I am black and I live in Northeast Jackson, and no way is Mr. Lumumba getting my vote. I am with whitey on this one.
I used to swear up and down id never be "one of those Rankin County rednecks".....till i moved to Rankin County (not Pearl, it doesnt count)....the reason Rankin is...ahem...as it is, is because the local PD and Sheriffs ....ahem.....arent politically correct.
This is not news (especially in Jackson) - people need to be situationally aware and responsible for their own safety (especially in Jackson) because the police can't be everywhere to save your bacon (especially in Jackson). Use your heads people!
The District at Eastover...the garden spot of Kush.
Junior did build two stories.
I am so ashamed that once again, "Our Mississippi" is shamed by racism. C. L. is all about his agenda. What was with the Rebel cap, sideways?? Please, think, how do we PROGRESS and get off the BOTTOM?
Johnathan Lee is a better start! Think for yourself!
What can I say - sh*t happens, no matter where you go.
By the way, I completely forgot that isolated instances of violence never happen in the suburbs, such as in the Reservoir area for example. I'm not negating the terrible nature of the acts of those thugs, but stuff like that is still very isolated in Belhaven. I don't care about what happens in South or West Jackson. Those areas are very distinguishable from Belhaven. The area is pretty safe.
People from the suburbs who talk trash about Jackson are analogous to Rosie O'Donnell (however you spell it) if she were to call another girl butch. Whether its true or not, these people completely ignore the fact (I'm calling it a fact because it is pretty indisputable) that their towns suck too. Yes, that includes Madison - the wannabe brick city.
People who compare Madison to Orange County and Palm Beach County are laughable. Congrats on the expansion of JSU into your town by the way. I know that you have to LOVE that.
Y'all are just crazy racists. I'm not afraid to live in NE Jackson or to shop in Highland Village.
I certainly know of crime in Madison and Ridgeland and strangely, it never seems to get media or blog attention especially one that was a major break-in. Oh, it was reported as if it were a minor incident on Madison's official report but the amount of stuff stolen made it a major felony.
More than a few of the folks working construction in Madison learned their trade at Parchman . Everytime a house was built in my Madison neighborhood, stuff was stolen.
That's why I moved to NE Jackson and why more than a few folks have moved , gasp, back from Madison to NE Jackson.
I'm sorry this happened to this young lady . She did the right thing by screaming. She noticed them early on as she was paying attention to her surroundings. She has alerted everyone to their descriptions.
Cities have crime. Grow up , people. Joint the 21st century.
Where do you folks vacation? Podunk Kentucky so you'll be safe?
Please take note of 11:07's claim that she lives in Belhaven and "doesn't care what happens in South or West Jackson". It's like not being concerned about a growth on your ear as long as you don't have a muffin-top. Or on a larger scale, living in Madison and not caring what happens in Jackson. And these people walk among us.
I think Lumumbas biggest supporters are the white rednecks on JJ
There is tons crime, and we all know it is the biggest election issue. The issue should not be racism or a power struggle as CL has made his priority.
But there is crime in every urban area. Belhaven has thousands of people living in it. There will be crime. No reason for people to condemn the city when it happens.
The only thing advocates who admonish a community to tolerate crime and accept tolerable levels of crime can guarantee are crime rates that will always exceed expectations.
11:41, I notice you cleverly don't say that YOU moved back to northeast Jackson from Madison, but that "more than a few folks" have. Tell you what...produce someone who moved to Jackson to get away from the Madison crime and I'll eat your hat. Not saying that people haven't moved from Madison to Jackson. Some people lost their jobs and can't afford it anymore. They may want to be closer to work, maybe mom and dad's house in Eastover has opened up, or maybe they just want their children to enjoy the diversity of the Jackson public schools. However, it's not because they've been victimized one too many times by crime in Madison. Better still, find someone in Jackson who has decided against moving to Madison because the crime rate was too high and I'll eat your hat AND shorts. What crime are they afraid of, traffic tickets? Shoplifting? Christmas light code violations? I'll be the first to admit that we're a long way from Palm Beach or Orange County (thank goodness), but crime is not a problem.
or maybe they just want their children to enjoy the diversity of the Jackson public schools.
ummmmmm.........what?
Two homes had kick in door robberies on Poplar Blvd ,one on Euclid, and one on Arlington where nothing was taken though entered all about a month or so ago all in same week. Drove white truck in one instance -one had dreadlocks. Big footprint. Took large flatscreen TVs , computors, jewelry.None home in any of these Belhaven cases. No follow up from police or security patrol or even connecting the dots. I tried to do that for them. Sad that we are living in such a jungle where people just take what they want and sell it for pennies on the dollar.
What BILL said............
I heard there were two homes in Reunion whose doors were kicked in.
4:15 it's idiots like you that have nothing better to do or say than put down a city i'm guessing you don't live in. give it a freakin' break. use your time for more productive things than belittling my city. i've lived in NE Jackson for 40 years & NEVER had a problem.
yake your BS somewhere else
