If you have been under a rock as I have been for the last week or so, there is a squabble between Tulane, the City of Madison, and Jackson State University. JSU wanted to open a satellite campus in Madison. Tulane and the city were not too happy about it as the city had gone to some trouble to recruit Tulane. Naturally the Parkway East Gods, otherwise known as Dick, Bob, and John Bell, were probably very happy to lease space to JSU and get some money for their little boondoggle. Pays just as well as getting tips from bagging groceries or FDIC bailouts. If it alienates the Queen, so much the better.
The Queen and Tulane fired off a letter to the college board arguing JSU and the state did not follow the rules. One can imagine IHL was not too happy about Tulane just as it once wasn't too happy about South Alabama visiting the Gulf Coast. Readers will remember the state repelled the barbarian horde from Mobile in a campaign led by Stacius Pickeringicus Marius. One can also be sure the Queen was none too happy for a violation of The Plan. After all, where would Madison be without The Plan. There were recriminations back and forth over who said what in various meetings. The Black Caucus couldn't resist a chance to play the race card as Kenny Wayne Jones remembered his first name is "Kenneth" and took a break from ordering Hennessy, rappers, and ho's for his birthday party to hold a press conference expressing his outrage. Whether or not the outrage was real is for you to decide.
The media of course surrendered to temptation the minute it learned the Queen was involved as every single tv station covered the controversy. One could almost hear their thoughts: Hot diggity-damn, we got ourselves a racist!!! Yeeee-haw!!! in their best Slim Pickens voice. The Clarion-Ledger suddenly found a reason to exist aside from bragging about its latest round of layoffs and all things digital. Did you know you can download the Iphone app for the newspaper if you subscribe? That is a tongue in cheek look at the controversy. Due to demand from some readers I am finally posting about the whole spat so consider this post to be an open thread about the matter and fire away.
Note: JJ is trying to find out if the rumor of 2 Gutta performing at Kenny Wayne's upcoming birthday party is true. It is also unconfirmed if a billboard sporting Tyrone Lewis in a pink teddy with the caption "Tyrone wants you" will appear next to the new campus. Stay tuned for further reports

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.

it makes sense for JSU to open a branch in madison. it would give area students the chance to attend a public university (cheaper) without having to drive so far south and into jackson. madison really should be supporting this (those that can afford tulane will go there anyway).
Kingfish: Opening a new thread on this subject is one thing. Concluding it with an undeserved insult leveled at the mayor is quite another.
If you have a problem with the way the city has reacted to this charade, state it. Be man enough to state your case, keeping in mind you don't know jack shit about managing a city or its resources.
If, on the other hand, you only want to stir up a bunch of crap by leveling a cheap shot at the only person who has challenged this farce, carry on..........
Canton offered to host the school...why did JSU turn them down?
The mayor did exactly what she should have done---That the race card has been played is no surprise---- That's what always happens-----JSU had years to come to Madison they did not----Until Tulane was successful. Keep up the good work Mayor
The worst part is that JSU is still being played for a fool. Dick Amdouchcino is gouging the tax payer, pissing in Mary's cereal, and making payments on a stucco clad tin fucking rickety piece of shit building.
This is a huge payoff...how in the hell did this go unnoticed?
The only reason Queenie is pissed is because they didn't get down on their knees and beg for her permission before they signed the TEN YEAR LEASE.
I guess Queenie will have TEN YEARS to think about it.
Actually she has just a few months to think about it. Her reign of terror and stalking is about over.
The real farce is that we even pretend that JSU is a real university. This is just one of the bargaining chips that the good ole boys use to keep the black caucus in line.
Is Madison big enough to support both schools? Honestly, I don't think so.
Benny, Madison county has 100,000 ish people. If we can't support a couple of small programs like this, I'd be surprised.
@8:13 ...."The real farce is that we even pretend that JSU is a real university"... What an idiotic statement. The classes at the Tulane branch are a joke. High school was harder. I'm more than confident JSU can hold there own. Even the mayor of Madison could graduate from Tulane. I even hear next year they are teaching an anti Cat-napping class and a class on how to send the police to someone's house to shoot their dog. Mary is the instructor. By the way. Why isn't the AG investigating the mayor for having the cops grab that guy at Holmes CC and taking him to the mayors office to be interrogated? Oh I know why.... The referred it to the FBI. MY BAD.
"I just cannot decide between Tulane or Jackson State" said no student ever. These two schools are not competing. Mayor Mary realizes she is going to have WalMart, Sam's, and JSU all with two miles of each other.
@8:13, it's their own, not " there" own. JSU did a lot for you didn't they?
Is JSU accredited? Seriously . . .
If you think the distance to JSU is what is currently keeping Madisonians from matriculating there you are seriously delusional.
If the Mayor's argument holds up, just remember that Ole Miss, MSU, USM etc will not be able to open a branch within a certain radius of Tulane's campus. So you better be happy with the associate's degrees being offered by Tulane because that's all you will be able to get
@11:20 pm "Is JSU accredited? Seriously..."
Yes it is. What a dumbass question. Which says volumes about the source.
Thank you for the chuckle. Once again you display so,etching many appear to have lost, a sense of humor and the ability to laugh at satire.
Personally I don't understand the rush to open a satellite so close to JSU. They have a very nice campus with plent of space to expand on cheap land.
I'm reasonably sure that the mayor is angry because she had to essentially beg Tulane to come to Madison, and rent them a city-owned building to use. She probably "promised" Tulane that they would have no competition. Oops...
And now here comes JSU, not asking for permission, not genuflecting to the mayor. If this was 1950 she would have said they were acting "uppity."
Now Tulane, and other schools, realize that they don't have to worry about getting the mayor's permission for anything - she has no real power.
JSU is one of three State universities in Mississippi, and our state universisites should be supported before worrying about the fortunes of private schools based in other states.
Simple question: Would the Madison response have been different if OM or MSU were the ones seeking a branch there? Me think so.
I hire people for an actual business. Every month or so, I get more fresh evidence that JSU is a joke. More specifically, a JSU degree is a joke, unless you're applying for a made-up government job in "Urban Education" or some similar bullshit.
The whole thing --from the legislative black caucus, to the "university", to the government-funded jobs-- is nothing but a massive patronage scam at the expense of black people.
Putting a branch in Madison serves the same function as naming every street, sidewalk and drainage ditch in Jackson after "civil rights heros." It's marking territory and daring someone to challenge it.
Um, JSU is one of how many? Delta State, Ole Miss, Miss. State, USM, Alcorn, MUW, ......
someone just SAY IT! We all know why Mary doesnt want JSU to be in Madison....
9:20.
Maybe not but she did reject Belhaven, her alma mater and she once served on the board of that school.
response to 8:02 pm - Why don't you go ahead and say you are John Bell because only in your wildest dreams will Mary be beat this year.
The rent Tulane pays is $1 per foot. The going rate in Madison is closer to $20 per foot. Is this a donation of public funds to a private enterprise? And KF, the president of Belhaven said on TV last night that Belhaven wasn't rejected, they just weren't interested.
Did he? Can't find the story on their website. What happened?
KF, you had me giggling all the way through the post. This could be your Trollfest 2013 post.
The residents of Madison will soon have a choice of who they trust to lead their City. Do they elect the person who has worked so hard for them and loves Madison so much? Do they elect a Supervisor that has sold his sole to Rudy, Tim, Dick and others with money to run his dirty campaign? He announced for Mayor almost immediately after being elected again as Supervisor. If he loses the Mayoral election he is still a Supervisor. Madison loses either way. What a scumbag.....
Money trumps race, and if race starts getting thrown around, someone is often trying to hide what they're doing with money.
The rule requiring IHL approval is supposed to prevent TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZED public institutions from unfairly competing against already existing private enterprises. The credit hour is cheaper at JSU, in part, because YOU are paying for part of it. The rule also exists to prevent YOU from paying for duplicative services.
Whether Tulane is getting, what amounts to, tax payer subsidies is another consideration. But these are CITY funds, so it makes sense that the City of Madison and its Mayor would be the most vocal opponents. They (in my opinion, wisely) understood the value of having higher ed in Madison, and made commitments to bring the business in. The law was supposed to protect Tulane and the City's investment in one another.
Tulane, even with cheap rent, can't compete with a public institution's level of taxpayer subsidy. Tulane will withdraw from this market, the City will lose a good tenant anchoring kind of a weird area in the city, and the new landlord will get a nice payday.
The people shouting about race are the ones who stand to make money off the JSU deal. The only color that matters here is green.
If you think the distance to JSU is what is currently keeping Madisonians from matriculating there you are seriously delusional.
I LOL'ed at this one. There are many good comments here, but this is the best. Why in the world would JSU want to be in Madison anyway? There's an obvious contradiction there. Madison is not very, errr, "urban."
I would like to hear what "Dick for short" has to say about it?
February 1, 2013 at 9:42 AM
I have been saying Mary is in her last days on the throne. Now, somebody else says it. It was good to see somebody agree with me.
Or....are you actually Mary trying to hold on???????
I live in Madison and I do not want JSU in Madison. Ask yourself this.....Is it safe to go around the JSU campus off J.R. Lynch Street??? As for Mayor Mary, John Bell Williams will not get 25% of the vote in Madison. Talk about the lady all you want but in the end.....she will still be the mayor!!!!!
John Bell is a joke.
@3:55 making the argument that JSU expanding into Madison will make the town resemble Lynch street is as illogical as it is racist. You have to be a moron to think the JSU campus is the reason that area has a high crime rate. As if the people getting college degrees are really the problem over there. I can think of no other reason you would make that argument other than some racist idea that attracting even educated black people into an area would raise the crime rate. As if you think that black people have such a criminal inclination that even an education and economic opportunity wouldn't hamper their desire to break into your car. It's a good thing that racists like you are slowly off.
KF, the Belhaven president was on WAPT, I think.
JJ has been invaded by race harpies.
Trying to explain to a person who thinks bringing JSU to Madison is as good of an idea as bringing Tulane is like trying to explain to a child who wants to eat candy why he should eat vegetables instead.
Like the child wanting the candy, the JSU Supporter just wants JSU. The child rationalizes that since both candy and vegetables are food they are equally "good". The JSU supporter rationalizes that both Tulane and JSU are education and are, therefore, equally "good".
An honest look at the facts prove that both the child and the JSU supporter are wrong.
You will never change the child's mind about the candy, but she will mature and learn that you are right about the vegetables.
Listen, I am black and even I would not go to JSU. Is there a high demand for classes in the area or something else. This issue is green not black or white.
I've just realized something. Either KF has a flunkie monitoring the board who approves almost anything or the board is on auto-pilot. In either case, KF comes along later and starts deleting posts he doesn't agree with. What a control freak!
@5:23. I wasn't making the argument that one school isn't better than the other. Tulane is clearly more prestigious than JSU. However, the notion that a JSU expansion into Madison would turn the surrounding area into a high crime area is such a leap that it requires a racist inference that all black people, even those getting a college degree, are prone to crime. Racists who make comments like that and those people who stand up for them make everyone against the expansion look racist. God forbid a black person move to Madison. It would probably defeat the entire purpose for which you moved there
The word is that JSU is expanding to Madison in order to qualify for more Ayers money. Supposedly, there are many millions of dollars available to them if they can increase their "minority" enrollment, i.e., white enrollment. So they picked Madison.
The OTHER rumor is that the plan is for the Madison campus to offer as much as 60% tuition breaks to white students as scholarships.
I don't think that the brand JSU has built will be served by a move to Madison. They have promoted themselves as an "urban" university and a HBCU with strong ties to Jackson civil rights activities. A Madison campus doesn't work with that.
1/31, 9:36 p.m. -- given the number of people who washed out at Tulane after year one, the classes can't be THAT easy. At the very least, they flunked students who couldn't understand the difference between "their" and "there."
Jackson State University needs to stay in Jackson. Why don't they go to Canton??? They can open Canton State University!!!!
Queen Mary hasn't made a statement here, but why would she agree with JSU coming to her community with their baggage, i.e., crime, rankings, history, etc. Why would JSU want to split their revenue between 2 campuses, with personnel in place. They must be celebrating MLK month and Obama's re-election.
"John Bell Williams will not get 25% of the vote in Madison."
True, but how about John Bell Crosby?
Well, John Crosby will be the next mayor of Madison. I am not here to fight John's battles, he can do that himself, and quite well. And it takes a real coward to call John a scumbag, hiding behind a keyboard. Walk into Kroger's, IF you have the man parts, and express your feelings.
You claim John has used his position for personal reasons, then explain how Mary & her husband did not go to jail for bilking folks out of their money. Also, explain how her real estate company has been able to violate zoning regulations in Madison.
By the way, Mary does not have a love for the city, she has a love for power.
As Dilday (Dildo) said in the Clarion Friday, 'We're black, we're in charge and you can get over it'. This is the new mantra. Will it gain traction? Will the above-ground sewer system redefine urban planning? Will a PhD in grant-writing be offered? Will there be a ladies hat-shop in the vestibule? Stay tuned.
Correct me if Im wrong but JSU ran Ole Miss out of town a few years back for offering an engineering program for working professionals in Jackson. Their argument was that Ole Miss offering these classes were unfair considering they already offered them right down the road...
And it takes a real coward to call John a scumbag, hiding behind a keyboard.
You tell 'em Anonymous. No doubt the power of your words from behind that anonymous keyboard has caused all JJ participants to step back and more fully contemplate the future comments they may leave here. Thanks for that outstanding dose of reality.
To 1246 am----You obviously are dreaming---Crosby has been a terrible supervisor and his only qualification for Mayor is being a grocery store mgr----with no college degree---You are joking right, right well maybe just dreaming
It's clear that there are at least 2 (possibly Mary chiming in twice) participants who have more power with their keyboard than with the lump that sit atop their shoulders.
I said I am NOT here to fight John's battles, nor do I care what comments "JJ" spew. I am not making slanderous statements from behind a closed curtain, only observations.
Just because John did not allow you put major appliances on your front porch does not make him a bad supervisor.
And how exactly does a college degree matter when compared to real life expeiences? By your logic, the Stokeses must be great leaders, they both have college degrees.
Now wake up. Watching so much SpongeBob is not considered educational T.V.
To 1036 am
Well said John , although your lack of a formal education shows in your grammar just what the city needs !!
Did someone say I ought to go into Kroger and express my feelings to John Bell? Isn't he supposed to be employed by Kroger to run a grocery store, not stand around and glad-hand and chat on the phone about Madison County politics? Kroger has chastised his ass several times already and the next move is his ass out the door. Since Mary managed to get him elected to the Board, he's sidled up to snakes and scumbags and has become a morph of both. He's the proverbial one-legged man in an ass kicking contest. Broken olive jar aisle 16 John Boy.
Defining Crosby as a scumbag is not slander. Dumbshit.
Like I said, I am not here to fight John's batles. He can do that well enough himself. But sometimes, it's just fun to agitate people who go around with a burr under their saddle. And from the looks of it, there are about 3 or 4 here that troll for confrontations.
But that's what politics does, brings out the trollness in some folks.
YES, there are some mispeled werds and encorect verbage in this post just for the grammer cop. Have fun.
Now, try to return to the original topic.
(Maybe a new topic can be started about Madison City/County politics)

Plain and simple. February 2, 2013 at 12:50 PM is the troll.

the Pee Wee Herman defense.
"I am rubber, you are glue."
Also, it appears that "the man behind the curtain" at Jackson Jambolia is editing & deleting comments. What a putz.

A person whose sole purpose in life is to seek out people to argue with on the internet over extremely trivial issues. Such arguments can happen on blogs, Facebook, Myspace and a host of others.
The best thing you can do to fight an internet troll is to not answer..or report them.
"God, Jeromy won't stop posting about Larry's bad spelling in that conversation."
"Yeah, I know, what a Internet Troll."

Notice how the Troll attacks spelling errors?
a few years back Eric Stringfellow wrote in his column, "Jackson State needs to be run from a black perspective"...how does that play in Maryville?
SONIC BOOM in Madison...
A black perspective. Look how Jackson and Hinds county are run on a day to day basis. The city and county are broke. The inmates have taken over the jail and the thugs steal everything in sight. The court system is a joke. Take Kenneth Stokes as an example. Where else could he hold office other than Jackson or Hinds County. The media and Democratic Party of Mississippi are playing the race card. John Bell will still be at Kroger working after he is defeated.
I'm still laughing about John Bell Williams getting only 25% of the vote.
Maybe Cliff Fitch can run for supervisor
Its true there are close ties between the Queen and Tougaloo--Maybe she can help John Bell with a degree there--
Taxpayers had to pay out millions for Trustmark to take over Sethi's failed bank. Taxpayers had to fork out the dough for his failed PID. Meanwhile he lives high on the hog. IN an earlier time, he would've been tarred, feathered, and run out of town. Sadly, those times no longer exist.
Isn't Sethi a "MINORITY"?
when you are owning banks, you are not a minority anything, you are the majority.
If it's India Sethi you are referring you, he was the "owner in title", but was chartered through proper channels. Stockholders got whipped on his deal. He ran off his business charging usurious rates, and operating like an India bank. He tried to own a piece of everything he made a loan on or to. The India clan, his own people, wouldn't do business with him.
Eric Stringfellow is now employed at and by JSU. Not sure who Cliff Fitch is.
I can't wait for JSU apparel store at Rennaissance....forget getting a seat at Mama Hamils. Good news for me, it means more new construction in NE jackson.
Good news for me, it means more new construction in NE jackson.
Just keep saying that to yourself over and over again ... Sucker.
1030 let's see....I counted three new homes under construction today or renovation since I last drove the neighborhood a week ago. Keep telling yourself that cheap built construction in reunion will last.
Three homes? WOW. That will restore the tax base in a big, big hurry. Someone call Harvey real quick. Jackson is saved! Three homes in some state of investment and Whole Foods!!! Happy days are here again for Jackustan.
Foundation work counts as 'new construction or nenovation' in NE Jackson?
Shadow-girl. Is your dress still to tight again? Go work out or something manly. Super Bowl is almost on. You should watch it. Get that low T up.
@2:39 by calling Jackson "Jackustan" are you implying that Jackson now has a large middle-eastern/Pakistani population? How did I miss this? Thanks for your insight. You are a real winner!
"Jackistan": Gunfire on a constant basis from undetermined points of origin by unknown persons, groups or organizations, intending to wound, maim or kill indiscriminately and resulting in a general atmosphere of fear, severe depression and angst among the general populace except for a small conclave of true believers who manage to remain in denial.
5:53. You are just wrong. I've lived in Jackson for 20 years and have never had gunfire in my neighborhood. As has been said before, it is not indiscriminate and can be directly correlated with other crime, usually bythe victim.
To imply that there is gun fire across Jackson is as wrong as ignoring that there area with high crime.
I left "The Bold New City" to get away from the 3 ring circus and a side show 5 years ago. I moved to Madison. A lot of people are bad mouthing the Mayor. The Mayor has not commented on JSU coming to Madison. Most of the people commenting about the JSU ordeal live in Jackson. You are jealous because you do not live here and have to live with crime, high taxes, declining property values and a shrinking population base. Don't worry Jackson, Mayor Mary will be re-elected and if you drive up to Madison.......be sure and check your inspection stickers and car tags. You will be pulled over and issued a citation. Oh, one last thing, we have plenty of room in the Madison County Jail for thugs and the judges will hand you a harsh sentence if you try some of the stuff you pull off in Jackson. Look forward to seeing you in Madison.
You are jealous because you do not live here and have to live with crime, high taxes, declining property values and a shrinking population base
That's a dumb comment. Most NE, Fondren Belhaven folks could afford to live in Madison and chose not to. I can't say the reverse is true.
Why not post the comment calling out the Jackustan poster and demonstrating that violence in Jackson is usually isolated to criminals on criminals.
But we've got Whole Foods and a smattering of homes in Eastover being renovated!!!
And you don't.
It would appear the soup de jour ala upcoming election issue is brewing.
CL and wlbt both reporting on Board's proclamation.
I can assure you the people who live in Madison are not trying to move to Crackston (Jackson). You can stay down there with all the crime and thugs.
9:08, it's not so much a matter of who 'can afford to move to Madison'. It's a question of who is too damned stupid NOT to. Other than saying "I live in Fondren where chrome and paper mache' art are cool" or "I'm still in Belhaven and haven't been shot yet", what is the damned point of staying?
Many in Fondren and Belhaven can't leave because they are underwater on their house.
wait until chokwe takes control of ruling the roost. hope he starts wearing those african robes again, with matching hats!
after all, what is more inspiring than the many, many success stories arising from african rulers?
If you want to talk about racists.....look no further than Sen. Kenny Wayne Jones.
February 4, 2013 at 6:53 PM
I've lived in Jackson all my life. 61 years. When I lived on Cedars of Lebanon from 1978 until 2002, at first the neighborhood was nice, quiet. Then it changed and from 1990 until I left in 2002, gunfire was a NIGHTLY occurrence. Everything up to and including automatic fire. Granted, this may not happen in Eastover, (where by the way I understand there is a MASSIVE renovation going on) but it most certainly does happen in areas of Jackustan.
after all, what is more inspiring than the many, many success stories arising from african rulers?
I LOL'ed. Does this list include Kenneth Stokes and Harvey Johnson?
With all of the "concerned" citizens on here, I'd like one person to come forth that has been either shot or stabbed or knows someone that has been shot or stabbed. The truth is for the vast majority of people coming in and out of Jackson it is as safe as Queen Mary's front yard.
You people need to just stay in Jackson and let Kenneth Stokes, his crazy looking wife, Harvey Johnson, Chowke and the rest of the bunch run the capital city in the dirt. We will send you Kenny Wayne "Player" Jones and Furr Smith to help you work your problems out and blame the white man. I read today where your 911 emergency system is out of taxpayer funds. Maybe ole KingFish will help y'all out since he likes to stir it up!!!!!!
@8:06 I'm stupid because I live in Belhaven? Get over yourself!
By the way, your comment as it applies to me, and several people I know is inaccurate. I chose to move here over Madison County when I moved to the area two years ago. I haven't had a regret yet. I not merely stayed in Jackson, I moved here.
In any event, I am not the only one that has done so. In the past three years, Jackson's population has increased by 2,000.
I am so sad that living here automatically makes me a dumb person. Maybe some day I can move to Atlanta or somewhere else that makes me smart, since geographical location somehow directly correlates to intelligence.
You've been here a whole 2 years?
There goes your credibility.
@5:47 I would say that is a pretty minor point. Two years is enough time to know whether a place is worth living in.
Still waiting for someone on this blog who knows someone that has been shot or stabbed? Surely, someone of the Jackisitan haters that are so convinced it is a war zone have experienced this.
5:37. Thank you for moving to our metro area, and I am confident you will enjoy Belhaven.
Still waiting for that Jackisitan visitor on here that has been shot or stabbed or even knows someone that has been shot or stabbed.
5:37; what's the number of the yellow bus your children catch each morning? You live near 'downtown' - How often, after 7:00 pm do you and the wife walk four blocks away from the house at night? Where do you park your vehicles at night? Where do you shop for groceries? I'm not being nosey and these are rhetorical questions. Just want to point out to you that you're masquerading and fooling yourself, only yourself.
Its 5:37 again.
Hello Shadowfax. You are right to be conscious about being nosey, because this information is none of your business.
I do not have kids, so they don't ride the bus. There are some great private schools that I will send them to when I do have them. Very irrelevant question.
I park my vehicle in front of my house. Where else would I park, dumbass?
I walk regularly at night. I usually walk home on nights that I go to Feniens or to the bar at the Fairview. I was at the Fairview for about an hour last night - I walked back. I guess I should have had you there to advise me against that, huh?
On the way back to the house, I passed two women who were out on a jog. They did not look very scared, so I guess I am not the only one that is "fooled."
Thank you very much for your concern, Shadowfax.
And SF gets b-slapped once again.
And SF gets b-slapped once again.
You tell 'em anonymous. I'm sure SFax is terribly wounded by your powerful anonymous words and sentiment. You've added so much to the discussion and we are all grateful. Please stay here and enlighten us further. We'll do everything we can to kiss your ass.
I got the information I wanted. The anonymous Jackson resident has no children but may have one later, assuming he manages to get married. The point being, nobody moving into Jackson would enroll their child in JPS. An alcoholic post-teen who rents a house in the hood and hangs at Fenians. Now we've heard from the Jacktown yuppie elite. Expect an in-migration based on his testimonial. Is it even legal to park on the street in Jacktown? Well, since it's only an '89 Volvo, no prollem.
Tread lightly here Kingfish.
How dare you insult the Queen. By the way, did you know that she is really a witch. Oh yes. She has survived for over 200 years on a daily regimen of infants' blood and bacon.
A friend of mine robbed her home and almost got away with two tons of makeup. I should say ex-friend. Much to my chagrin, he spent his last days in Parchman, carving anal bungs out of apple cores.
You have been warned KF. Run for the hills while you still can.
Its 5:37.......again,
Hello Shadowfax. It is very good to hear from you again. I hope that your day was fantastic!
Slow down with the assumptions. The only correct one you made is that I am young (although calling me a post-teen may be inaccurate at this point since I am in my late 20s). Your other assumptions (that I rent, that I am not married, that I drive a volvo, that I am an alcoholic, etc.) are baseless, incorrect, and very tacky.
I know that you may be angry that I dared to answer the questions that you directed at me, but throwing personal insults at someone you don't know is always a good way to invalidate your point. I mention this because it appears that you are unaware of that. In any event, by the tone of your post, it sounds like you are the one that carries an air of elitism - not me.
As someone who takes such a keen interest in what is going on in our community, I would expect that you are an upstanding individual in real life. However, one would not know that from reading your posts, but instead, they would likely assume you to be devoid of any class whatsoever, and well, a jerk.
As for your sarcastic comment about an in-migration coming from my post, note my earlier comment when I said that there already are people moving back into Jackson. Undoubtedly, there are those that move out (you don't have to tell me, I already know), but obviously a greater number are moving in. Otherwise, there would not have been a 2,000 person increase in the past three years in Jackson's population.
In short, it would help the effectiveness of your points if you were to avoid making tacky personal attacks on other commenters. You really don't have to be so defensive just because someone answered your questions. I hope that you are not like this in all of your other dealing away from your frequent postings on this blog.
Hi Shadow, it is 5:37....... yet again. Forgot to mention in my last manifesto that I know it all. Thanks.
Someone break out the KY. SF will need some.
You fail to note the tens of thousands who moved OUT in the past two decades and the 99% of non-blacks with children who enroll them in private or parochial schools. You have no children and are in your twenties and have lived in the area less than two years. Your conclusion that Jackson is experiencing in-migration is terribly flawed. Out-migration had suffered so tremendously that minimal youngsters moving in to the artsy sections represents a virtual blip on the stat-radar. Did you consider annexation since the last census? I'm not sure, but that may represent 2000 more than left.
Since I really hate for you to think me tacky I won't question you about tats, piercings and sandals and trendy brews.
Forget the census estimates.
Just look at the report cards for Pearl and Clinton school districts as well as the report card for Terry High school.
Where do you think all those black students are coming from?
You know, now that I think about it, That is correct.
When I went to Hinds, you could actually take decent classes at the R&D center. Some of the universities offered classes as well. Then JSU came along and raised hell, kicked them all out. Did JSU replace them with similar classes? Nope. They just wanted to kick them out.
6:34
Where did you get the 2,000 figure that you keep repeating?
From Ben Allen's 'talking points'. It one of those things Ben likes to claim "Nobody can dispute this figure since they don't know where it comes from".
U.S. Census Estimate. 2010 population: 173,516; Population estimate at the end of 2011: 175,561, with a difference of 2,004people. You can look for yourself at the Department of Commerce's website by clicking on this link: http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/28/2836000.html or alternatively, you could go here http://www.governing.com/news/state/census-2011-city-population-estimates.html#map. So, no, It is not one of "Ben Allen's talking points."
As far as ShadowFax goes, I don't know of any instance in which Jackson annexed any land since 2010, but if you know of a time, please feel free to put me in my place
3:03 is at it again stalking Ben. He must have forgotten to take his "Be Nice to Ben" meds. All over here today stalking ole Ben. Funny as hell.
Don't confront Shadowfax with facts.....the thread will get shut down.
