The Lieutenant Governor is holding a fundraiser on the coast today. Let the Tater-haters fire away. ;-)

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

It is completely understandable that Reeves would want his house blogger to publicize this event.
Tate Reeves is the greatest public official in the history of modern government. We are lucky to have someone who gets elected and keeps the promises he made to the people during the campaign, even if he has to leave skid marks on the good ole boys to do it.
The fact that Tate pisses off SuperTalk's Fat Bastard is the icing on the cake that tells me he's doing a great job.
No doubt Tater is pleased to have a lunatic like Crowley squarely in his corner.
In case you haven't noticed dumbass, I post everyone's fundraising invitations. If I don't post it, its because I didn't get it or no one sent it to me. Democrats, Republicans, black, white, even unwashed and smelly heathens like you, I post them all when I get them.
How many bond bills did Reeves actively lobby against during 8 years as Treasurer?
During 8 years on the bond commission what percentage of the total bonds that came before the commission did Reeves vote against?
I will say it again....Tate is the most hated guy at the capitol! He has zero people skills...he fights with everyone...he wants to control everyone and their business...he has maybe 2 senate chairmen that like him and no one in the house...he hates Bryant and continually says he is going to run aginst him next time...word is out that his honey-moon is over...if he tries to pull that BS he did last year his nuts are going to get clipped...these people are pissed at Tate and have no patience for his childish temper-tantrum, insecure behavior!
10:59 - that would be a real interesting comment if it had any significant facts that were correct. Admitted, there are those at the capitol that don't like Tate - I'm not sure how many "hate", but that's a matter of semantics. Two Senate Chairmen that like him??? Go back to second grade and learn how to count - use your fingers if you need to. Don't know about "hating" Bryant, but agree he doesn't have much respect for him. Haven't heard HIM say he was going to run against him next time - just others speculating. As to what he "pulled off last year" that he can't do again, make it specific and I might take that bet.
Understand you and many others that never liked Tate are upset cause he doesn't give you the time of day. That's your problem, not his. Election was in 2011 - Time for you to get over it.
I don't know if Tate is 'hated' at the Capitol or not, but he certainly has changed in personality/speech/demeanor quite a bit through his advancement in political office. Fresh out of Milsaps he was a very engaging, fun guy to have a beer with. Even during his first term as Treasurer he was easy to have a friendly, non political conversation with. Now everytime I see him at CS's or George street, he has a goofy entourage with him and has more and more adopted some bizarre cornpone accent(maybe the move across the river?) and doesn't even seem to want to discuss Eely, the kids, hunting, Milsaps. Have begrudgingly co-hosted events for him each election (not my decision) but am going lobby pretty hard against not doing that in the future.
Sounds as if 10:59 is describing Billy and look how long he flourished. Has Crowley been let loose from the nervous hospital again?
The comments about LG Tate Reeves' "personality" (or lack of) remind me of a thoughtful, interesting observation about our current Best Hope, Mitt Romney. This writer, a Republican herself, is a clinical psychologist specializing in Asperger's Syndrome. She thinks Romney may have it, based on his not-so-charming interview style. She also happens to have a brother with the same quirk. These folks are often brilliant, excellent problem-solvers, but simply lack the cheery-happy social skills the rest of us develop.
Does anyone out there remember reading this same article? For the life o' me, I cannot recall this writer's name, but she made the excellent point that perhaps what we NEED is someone who isn't all that telegenic/smiley/charming---but who can cut to the gist of the problems without a lot of sentiment.
I'm not sure whether everyone hates Tate or not. A lot of people who know a lot about this business don't understand some of his actions. Now, here is the answer-Tate is/was a nice guy who simply doesn't have the bandwith to be where he is and it is starting to show. That is his problem. To his credit, he beat a couple of nice guys in 03, fell in love with and did whatever Haley told him to do and coasted along in the big mans slipstream. Now that Haley is gone, the party is over. The other thing that he's done well is be able to raise enough money to be a player which is actually and hit at all the other nobody's out there on stage who simply can't raise money. There are a lot of real horses that I see (as a democrat turned repub) over the years that are for whatever reason sitting on the sidelines. Bottom line, Tate isnt a bad guy he is just in over his head.
Tate Reeves is the greatest public official in the history of modern government.
Wait, Curt ... I thought that was Tyrone Lewis?
How much cash would it take to get 10:33 to say that to Crowley's face?
Hey 1:33 bandwith? Hell, I thought he was the smart guy over there! My take is he has no personal skills but some weird ego thing going because of politics. I see him as a smart, Millsaps nerd who's got this weird political ego.
1:33pm, how is Tate Reeves in over his head? It seems to me, based on the last session, Tate is in charge. I know, it's easy to look like a rock star standing next to Governor Brainless and Speaker Spineless, but still.
Any doubt about who punked whom was removed when Jeff Smith went whining to the Radio Thug after Tate put him in his place.
Glad to see the Coast folks are warming-up to The Penguin, he is a lot better in that office than Billy Hewes would have been, and much smarter than Dewey Bryant!

Is Crowley prone to violence August 14, 2012 2:20 PM?
4:02, are you the same douchebag that asks those 2 questions, verbatim, on every post where Tate Reeves is mentioned?
If so, I respectfully submit that the lack of a response to your repeated inquiries could be interpreted as an indication that no one gives a shit.
Crowley is classy!
I only have a problem with Curt using a bullet lipstick case as a picture next to his name....i mean ive heard of macho women but this is over the top....
Knowing Crowley I can guarantee you that aint bullet lipstick. I am surprised he doesn't have
762X39 on his car tag.
Tate is what we have for 3 plus more years. I voted for him and think he can do a good job. He needs to work as a tram player. We have got great opportunities if he will learn to work together!
As flattering as it is to be the subject of obsession by the gutless anon keyboard warriors, this post is about Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves.
It's not about me, or what my reaction would be if gutless 10:33 ever found the courage to stop being an anonymous little b***h and enagaged me personally (like that would ever happen).
4:36, classy, no. I prefer the term "direct."
Now, back to the nobody likes Tate bullshit fest.
If he doesn't get re-elected, he could always go work at Butler Snow.
I don't seem to remember anyone asking how many times Haley voted against some bonds while on the commission.
He needs to work as a tram player.
Without a doubt. Tram or, better yet, as a gondola player.
When did Haley ever take the position of 'no bonds' Kingfish? Please, enlighten us unless, of course, your merely carrying more water.
I just hope Phil leaves the State a bunch so Tate can actually serve as Governor and get something done. In fact, the citizens of MS should rent Phil a house in Alabama.
Actually, to those Tater-haters out there that keep asking the same questions every time Tater's name comes up, and to the late poster that asked the same question about HRB, there are a couple of answers. (1) the bond commission doesn't have to bring up every bond that the legislature passes. If there is not support from at least two of the members, the bond just doesn't come up. Therefore, there might not be a vote 'against' the bond, but still it is not issued due to lack of a vote. (This explains part of the $1.4 billion of unissued bonds).
(2) I believe that Tater voted against bonds for museum projects and City of Jackson projects in the last few years. Might be wrong here, but saying only from news reports and memory.
As to "lobbying against" bonds, that wasn't his role, but he did say many times - in public speeches and to the legislature - that the bonded debt of the state needed to be reduced. Same thing he said in his campaign. Like it or not, he did what he said he was going to do when he campaigned.
Now, the teabaggers and others that don't like him because Big Daddy says not to, don't give him credit for being a fiscal conservative. Seems to me we should be toasting him for not increasing the credit card balance.
Just saying.
Wow . It is a hate Tate fest in here. I'm satisfied with him in many ways. I think he let us down on immigration, pro life, pro gun, utilities. He seems to be a spending hawk and okay with shaking up the status quo. I hope that includes having his Chairmen get their act together. Like allowing committee members time to read legislation.
As a coastie I should point out a few things.
MS Power Ed Day
IP Casino
Senator /Chairman Wiggins, the event was actually at his father's home.
In all of this "expert commentary" and some of it is actually interesting and maybe some is even accurate, you all miss what this thread has become. Is Tate capable of going up? The answer is no, his race for Treasurer in 03 was a nice victory, his beating Hewes doesn't count for much for those who know how it happened. He can't take a big prize because at the end of the day he won't appeal as a governor because there will be others (maybe only two) that will have at least as much money so his only advantage is out the window at that point. Tate, go get that job and make money!
Anon 6:36, I agree with some of your points, but do wonder what it was that Tate Reeves did or did not do that was not "pro gun" enough?
MS is already a "shall issue"/no training state, with a fairly wide-ranging enhanced permit law. Short of becoming an open-carry/no-permit required state (which creates major problems when traveling interstate), what do you contend Tate should have done?
I'm asking you this not to argue or belittle your points. I just have not heard of this being an issue and would like to know more.
If memory serves correctly, they all died in the same committee that the life and immigration bills died in. Still dunno why Tate put a lib as Chair of a Judiciary cmte.
The idea that it isn't the Treasurer's role to advise, counsel and/or warn the Legislature and/or Governor against debt and the budgetary impact of debt service costs is preposterous.
The reason then Treasurer Reeves said nothing at all in opposition to the truly staggering amounts of bond debt passed by the previous House and Senate was all about politics and all about his plans to run for Lt. Governor.
Haley Barbour was not against new bond debt and Reeves did nothing to cross his benefactor. Nor did he try to stop all the local Representatives and Senators who were feeding at the trough.
Tate Reeves a fair weather Johnny when it comes to state debt.
8:33, yours is a nice revisionist history post. You state that Tate (and HRB, for that matter) did nothing to stop the increasing bonded debt during the past 8 years. That is just factually incorrect. If you talk to the Chmn of the Ways/Means & Finance committees during the last two sessions, you will find that there was a serious brake on the amount of the bond issues with the threat of a veto from HRB.
I agree that Barbour issued a large amount of MDA project debt - an issue that deserves its own post. But outside of that, both Barbour and Reeves grabbed hold of the amount and type of debt as a major issue, particularly during the first four years.
Get your facts straight before you dust off your keyboard and take shots at the folks you don't like.
August 15, 2012 9:09 AM must be on drugs:
Here are the bond bills passed over the last few years of by the Legislature:
2011 - $615 million
2010 - $857.9 million
2009 - $376.4 million
That's a "serious brake"? Yeah, right. Tate Reeves is not a debt hawk. PERIOD.
In the 7.5 years Tate Reeves was State Treasurer and served on the Bond Commission, the Legislature passed bond bills totalling $3.4 Billion.
Of that $3.4B, the Bond Commission approved issuance of roughly $600 million (most of which was to advance Gov. Barbour's economic development agenda).
Unless my calculator has failed me, that means the Bond Commission, controlled by Gov. Barbour and Tate Reeves, issued only 17.64% of the bonds the Legislature had approved (total amount in dollars). It rejected/refused to consider 82.36%of the bonds approved by the Legislature.
For those who don't remember, early in his first term, Tate got in a very public dispute with Billy McCoy because McCoy was pissed that the Bond Commission was not approving all the bonds passed by the Legislature for their pet projects.
When Tate told him to shove it, McCoy basically said that Tate needed to learn to compromise and learn his place if he expected to survive in state government. Sounds eerily familiar to what you so-called conservatives are saying now.
Wyatt Earp's stunt double can cry to Paul Galtelli and the Lowndes County Free Press all he wants, but those numbers don't lie.
Tate Reeves has ALWAYS worked to hold the line on bond debt. Stop trying to re-write history.

9:59, this info is contained in 20+ documents. The total authorized by the Legislature comes from 8 years of Legislative finance bills. The total approved is in bond commission records over the same time period.
Unless a bond guru knows where I can find shorter summaries of the info, there won't be a "link." It would actually be a bunch of links and you using a calculator to verify those numbers.
9:19, Nope, no drugs. Just facts. And I don't use the dribble that BigDaddy makes Gallo and JT spew (designed to keep his "boy" happy so he can keep his $3million in "advertising") for what actually has happened.
And, I thank Curt C for providing them so that I don't have to dig out the specifics.
Your trying to rewrite history sounds an awful lot like President O - same method of operating. Lie about the folks you don't like, keep on saying it loud enough and often enough, and pretend like it is true.
Again, either get the facts and then lets have an honest discussion, or do us all a favor and get someone to lock up your keyboard.
Provide the "bunch of links" Crowley for verification.
Tate Reeves is doing a great job. All the people posting negative views of him are people who wanted Pheeuhl's little boy Billy to win in 2011. Tate doesn't give them the time of day, and that drives them crazy.
I will, provided you ask me nicely. I have a major issue taking orders from gutless anons.
In the alternative, you always have the option of doing your own research.
Keep up the good work Tate. Proud of you.
Your numbers aren't verifiable Crowley without the links. Your choice if you want to be credible or not. No doubt you'll respond with some vintage Crowley intellect including the word douchebag.

You provided no facts. Zilch. Zero. Nada.
I will, provided you ask me nicely.
Crowley, are you channeling Jack Nicholson?
@4:32:
I can deal with the bullets and the bombs and the blood. I don't want money and I don't want medals. What I do want is for mr. Anonymous to sit there in that faggoty looking suit he got at the rogue and with his Ole Miss mouth extend me some f--king courtesy. He's gotta ask me nicely.
Col. Jessup was cool.
How many bond bills did Reeves actively lobby against during 8 years as Treasurer?
During 8 years on the bond commission what percentage of the total bonds that came before the commission did Reeves vote against?
From Billy Hewes hometown newspaper:
Sun Herald Editorial: Reeves finally has the power to curb debt
For years as state treasurer, Tate Reeves could only urge legislators to be prudent. Now, as lieutenant governor, Reeves has the power to do much more than advise lawmakers, and he is using it to remarkable effect.
When the legislative session ends in a few days, taxpayers are unlikely to face hundreds of millions of dollars in additional bonded indebtedness.
This is in sharp contrast to the last three legislative sessions, during which lawmakers approved borrowing:
p $615 million in 2011.
p $857.9 million in 2010.
p $376.4 million in 2009.
Some lawmakers, particularly in the state House of Representatives, had wanted to approve as much as $400 million in new bond debt this year.
Reeves, the presiding officer of the state Senate, balked at the notion. “I made a commitment to voters to try to pay down the state debt,” said Reeves. “When I said it, I meant it.”
The state’s more than $4 billion in long-term debt already costs taxpayers about $450 million ayear.Reeves saw no compelling reason for the state to deeper into debt and increase those payments. We commend his steadfastness.
Not that it should surprise anyone who followed Reeves during his tenure as treasurer. He consistently urged a “cautious and conservative” approach to state finances, especially during an uncertain and unsteady economy.
As treasurer, Reeves could be ignored by the Legislature. Now, as lieutenant governor, Reeves is a force for fiscal restraint to be reckoned with.
Troll at 8:11, your repetitive, loaded question has been addressed already. Sorry you don't like the answer, but the answer will be the same no matter how many times you ask it.
Little Billy lost. Unfortunately, you chapped your lips on the wrong a$$. Now get with the program.
