I posted last week an email about a robbery on Sheffield Drive. There have been more emails about crime in the area:
Email #1:
"On Sunday, April 24th, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., a burglary occurred on the 2000 block of Sheffield Drive. The burglar entered through the French doors at the back of the house. The entry was not forced. Only one of the home-owners was present and he was asleep. The burglar stole two sets of car keys from the pants and shorts of the homeowner in the bedroom while he slept. He also stole a flat screen television and left in the homeowner's truck. The police were notified and below is an email from Mick Byrd regarding the burglary and a break-in of a vehicle on Brecon."
Email #2:
" I stopped a car heading West on Sheffield Drive at roughly 12:20 AM. The car a dark blue sedan had two white males (late thirties), in the front seat, the driver had short brown hair, muscle shirt medium build, and a tattoo on the left bicep. When questioned appeared nervous. The driver stated, "you're gong to take my tag number aren't you", burned rubber and sped off at extreme high speed. Tag number was xxx xxx Madison County. JPD Dispatch called, information given, direction they were headed.
At roughly 6:30 AM received a call that JPD dispatch was sending units to 2--- Sheffield, that a car had been stolen. I called JPD Dispatch and told them they should follow up on the tag number I had called in earlier that I believed the two were related. The men in the car were not drunk, (blue collar) very suspicious and may have dropped someone off going up Sheffield.
At approximately 8:15 AM JPD detective called me asking for information on the car that I had stopped. No indication was given that any other occurances had happened."
Email #3:
"Sunday Night: 04-24-2011
Talked to JPD Officer, told to expect heavy coverage in Sheffield, Patrol Units and one undercover car would be in area. Talked about the robbery at 2--- Sheffield, No other robberies were indicated for that night. Someone had entered 2--- Sheffield Saturday night, stole two sets of keys and a wallet and left with one of the vehiles from the house.
At roughly 4:30 AM, received a call about a window broken out in a vehile at 1--- Brecon Drive. I arrived on scene and waited for JPD (Non-Member). After interviewing the lady, JPD asked me to watch for a young, fat, black kid wearing a red shirt.
A.D.D. = Alarms, dogs and locked doors would seem to be a good start in protecting our homes."
Then Ward 1 Councilman Quentin Whitwell sent out this email:
"The Jackson Police Department is aware of the situation, making the necessary provisions to find and arrest the criminals. Please stay tune to alerts as developments occur. There is no need to panic but be alert and keep me posted for any new information you may have. Also, make sure to pay your dues! We need more security."

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

So what became of the Madison County Blue Sedan Tag# MCZ 509. Also, who is Mick Byrd? A cop? Why didn't he pursue?
There was a major robbery at an Eastover home a couple weeks ago--no mention in the media. Odd.
Good question. Good answer: He is the private patrol. He did stop them, they sped off.
Quick reply to half of my question, (which didn't isn't showing up for some reason). What about the tag? Stolen? Do we know who they were?
I know all about the Eastover one. Woman's husband was out of town. She was at home with her two kids and they broke in to grab the keys and steal the vehicle.
Many homeowners in this area are extremely unhappy with Quentin Whitwell. He is trying to control the information that we are sending to each other because he fears of being politically correct. He has a conflict of interest with his aspirations for higher office. He needs to resign as head of the homeowners group or immediately stop trying to lord over communications in our neighborhood.
Sounds like they Rankin county organized crime ring is stealing cars in Madison county to use in the commission of crimes in Jackson. Time to call in the FBI.
DAAAAAM - 8:48am quentin cant even keep his neighborhood happy. im sure they all voted for him. oh well who needs voters when you are already in office
I sent Quentin an email two weeks ago about an issue in my area, still waiting on him to respond.
MAYBE A DUMB QUESTION: is the briarwood wine and spirits advertisement part of quentin's email or is something from you kingfish?
Man I really should have voted for Ice.
Dear Jackson Residents:
It's a lost cause. Move to Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood, or Brandon. If you stay then that's your choice. Don't complain.
8:48,11:27, 11:40, 1:57 and 2:23.
Same person. I LOVE IP trackers.
2:23 I have to agree.
The JPD has shown many times they do not have the capability to protect the citizens of Jackson. They don't have a clue who is robbing the homes in NE Jackson. Heck, it could be the thugs who live off North State Street in the Fondren area as easy as it could be some organized criminals. They simply don't know, and even if the JPD did find the criminals and arrest them, they would be back on the streets doing the exact same thing in a matter of days.
It is a lost cause, and the crime is only going to get worse.
Sheff Res said "He (Whitwell) is trying to control the information that we are sending to each other because he fears of being politically correct."
How, exactly, is Mr. Whitwell trying to control what you are "sending to each other?"
I live on an adjoining street in the same association.
Mr. Whitwell wants the info about neighborhood crime to come through him (as he himself mentions in the emails above) as Homeowner's Pres but then plays gatekeeper and filters the information leaving out key points.
His leadership during this crime wave has been pathetic.
Sheff Res isn't the only homeowner who wants to see him gone.
Lost Cause? More like a jungle with a war zone. I lived in Belhaven for 10 years. Every single on my neighbors had their homes broken into. I'd have friends stay with me, their cars were broken into.
Look at the daily amount of crime. Look what elected officials are doing with our tax dollars. YET, we have cops setting up speed traps EVERY day on Meadowbrook road. 5 - 10 "police officers" with speed guns. A fine use of resources...
Look at the daily amount of crime. Look what elected officials are doing with our tax dollars. YET, we have cops setting up speed traps EVERY day on Meadowbrook road. 5 - 10 "police officers" with speed guns. A fine use of resources...
Stopping robberies doesn't bring in revenue like writing tickets.
This grumbling about Quentin Whitwell is silly. He has been effective at city hall because he doesn't say crazy things like the unelectable neighbors on this thread. I would think a councilman would be a good homeowner's association president in this situation. If he were trying to keep crime wave info circulating among the neighbors and law enforcement only, which is doubtful, I can only guess that has more to do with catching the thieves or protecting property values than political correctness. As a republican on the Jackson City Council, he couldn't be much more politically incorrect. This crime is terrible and there are many worthy of blame but Whitwell has been doing a good job.
7:58 am - i beg to differ stopping robberies would bring residents back to the area. why do you think the "white flight" is still happening. do you think its the roads that has all of the prominent people leaving jackson?
This grumbling about Quentin Whitwell is silly.
Complaining about anonymous posters posting their freely held anonymous opinions ... well THAT is silly.
I live in Northeast Jackson as well and the property crimes that are taking place sure are not silly to me. This issue is much bigger than if our Citycouncilman is also our Neighborhood Association Pres or not. To be honest, I wish we had a councilman living in my neighborhood, although I met Mr Whitwell during his campaign and found him to be accessible... AND YES, he responded to my email just moments after I sent it. He's on Facebook, Twitter and seems to be easily accessible. People I talk with are extremely happy with Mr Whitwells first few months in office. Keep up the good work Quentin!
Now ponder this - Could the recent crimewave be related to the fact that Sherrif Mac recently sent a letter to JPD asking them not to send any non violent offenders to the jail because there's no room to keep them?
Just maybe the criminals know this and are taking advantage of the situation?
He's on Facebook, Twitter and seems to be easily accessible.
Kudos! A testament to his ineffectiveness.
Maybe Twitterwell can tweet something to make you feel better.
The complaining about Quentin wanting information to come through him needs to stop. Sometimes information does need to be filtered. What one person sees as key points could be interpreted by the next person as baseless accusations. Our newest councilman has done a great job of saying the right things to the right people to get things done. It is a safe assumption that Sheff Res and the other posters who are blasting the gatekeeper of information have no idea what Quentin has accomplished by talking to JPD and implementing a strategy to catch those who choose to terrorize Sheffield. The majority of Sheffield residents know what they are up against and have the utmost confidence in what Quentin has done and continues to do to protect the neighborhood.
One person's political icon is another person's charlatan. Politicians of all makes, models and stripes are fair game here Charlie.
Besides it looks like the discord is over Whitwell's performance as the Cheese of the Homeowner's group.
The complaining about Quentin wanting information to come through him needs to stop.
Says who? Some anonymous poster? You don't represent a majority of anything while you are anonymous.
I think the writer of the email learned after the robbery that the criminal was armed. I think there are two teenagers who are responsible for 90% of the crime in the Sheffield area. James and Israel (the little one) commit most the crime over there. Word on the street is that James was arrested after this crime, and he had a gun on him. I think he had stolen a few cars that evening.
I think these two kids are about 15. I don't think they go to school. If you drive by JA during the week, you will usually see one of them on a stolen bike. Obviously, no one is concerned about these kids not going to school or starting a career in crime early. We are in trouble...
this was the last comment in the first sheffield crime thread. does anyone know james and israel?
Nor do you, Mrs 9:09!
How ridiculous to anonymously complain about an anonymous post.
I really don't have a dog in this hunt but I couldn't resist.
Crime happens everywhere. I am proud to live in jackson and by the number of new homes under construction others are as well.
:: Yawn ::
Thanks for the advice to move, but I've lived in Madison and don't miss the daily traffic hassles or gas bills or Bear Creek water or being in a tornado alley.
I can take measures to deter criminals but not much I can do about tornadoes.
Besides, I'm enjoying the 365+ hours a year I'm not in the car.
When you have time to smell the roses, you don't feel cranky and irritable or critical and don't feel the need to give unsolicited advice.
Please don't waste your precious time worrying about me. I'm happy and feel secure. Focus on your own life. There's much that needs improving in Madison county government so focus on your community and I'll do what I can in mine.
madison county tag??? I wish they would stop exporting their crime to our city.
