They accused a bank of keeping the insolvent float just long enough to steal their harvest without paying for it in a lawsuit filed in federal court Monday.

Marcus Dupree said he will not repay $789,534 demanded by State Auditor Shad White.  A Nancy New – operated nonprofit provided the funds to the Marcus Dupree Foundation. She is under indictment for allegedly defrauding DHS for several million dollars in TAN F funds.

 No words can describe the horror that took place on Highway 18 yesterday as an "alleged" drunk driver killed a mother and her baby while leaving her two other children fighting for their lives in the hospital. The suspect is Beth Ann White. Court records are littered with a string of DUI arrests for White but show no convictions.

Last week I was walking around a New Orleans grocery store with my daughter helping her re-stock her apartment, which had been virtually empty since Hurricane Ida swept through town almost two months ago. Everything in her refrigerator had been thrown out a few days after the storm, and she had been working out of town for weeks, so she was starting from scratch.

William O. “Bill” Luckett Jr. was a man with an extensive and surprising list of gifts and talents. When I learned of his passing last week at the age of 73 after battling cancer and other challenges, I recalled a day spent with him in his beloved Clarksdale when he was gearing up to run for the Democratic nomination for governor of Mississippi in 2011.
