Perhaps Lane Kiffin should borrow a page from Bear Bryant and wear a helmet to the game tomorrow.
The picture was taken before the start of the 1964 Georgia Tech -Alabama game. The hatred between Ole Miss and LSU had nothing on the Georgia Tech-Alabama rivalry. Bear wore a helmet walking from the locker room to the bench because the fans threw so many whiskey bottles at him.

Yes, I’m sure that when Coach Bryant played his last game at Alabama, he thought he’d never wear another football helmet again, but that was not the case. On November 14, 1964, Bryant sought out a used helmet to wear as he walked past Georgia Tech fans on the way to the locker room....
Fans in Atlanta hated Alabama so bad that tensions were razor sharp. Two years earlier when the game was in Atlanta, fans hurled whiskey bottles at Bryant as he left and in this game, Bryant chose to take no chances. Georgia Tech hatred of Alabama caused the stopping of this long standing series, one of Alabama’s longest. Until then, it was quite a brawl each year with Tech usually winning as many as they lost. Ouch. Now if Lane wants to really stir them up tomorrow night, he should consider borrowing another one of Bear's tricks.
Bear would lean against the goalposts and watch the other team's pre-game warm-ups. Needless to say, the opposing team's fans were rarely appreciative of his presence on the field.

Lane can't sniff Bear Bryant's jock strap.
Even if a mustard bottle found its mark that won't be the worst pain for Lane. It will be that long trip home after losing to Ole Miss.
