Lane Kiffin just can't stop himself from poking the Black Bears of Ole Miss. What did he do now, you ask? For some strange reason, the LSU football coach trashed the whole Ole Miss thing in an interview with Vanity Fair:
One reason Kiffin was drawn to LSU was that the school and its allies could pump what he calls “adult money” into the football program. For his first season leading the Tigers, the roster will reportedly cost nearly $40 million (Kiffin would not comment), but he’s also wielding softer weapons. He’s turned up in videos with two of LSU’s bombshell female athletes, Olivia Dunne and Florentine Dekkers. Kiffin also seems willing to indirectly invoke Ole Miss's struggle to distance itself from symbols like the Confederate flag, Colonel Rebel, and the nickname "Ole Miss" itself. When he was coaching there, Kiffin says, top recruits would tell him, “‘Hey, coach, we really like you. But my grandparents aren’t letting me move to Oxford, Mississippi.’ That doesn’t come up when you say Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Parents were sitting here this weekend saying the campus’s diversity feels so great: ‘It feels like there’s no segregation. And we want that for our kid because that’s the real world.’” (The next day Kiffin added, “I just hope [my comment] comes across respectful to Ole Miss…. There are some things that I’m saying that are factual, they’re not shots.” The population of Baton Rouge is about 51% Black and 36% white (KF: Actually, EBR Parish is much closer, 45% black, 42% white; Oxford is about 66% white, 26% Black. ). Article with paywall.
Needless to say, such comments do not sit well with the Ole Miss fans. Indeed, The title of the next Locked on Ole Miss podcast is Lane Kiffin is an Awful Human Being. Can't say I blame the Ole Miss fans and something tells me the players and their families will tell a different story.
This is probably not the last such comment out of Kiffin as he will undoubtedly add more fuel to the proverbial fire before a certain weekend in September.

He will NEVER win a national championship at lsu! You reap what you sow!l
Anybody can say anything. Kiffin is a deadbeat coach that’s never won a trophy in his life. He has to use his mouth to get attention. I bet the recruits he talks about does not even exist. Everyone knows he’s a liar.
Wasn’t going to win one at the other school either….
The most telling part of this article is a quote from the Vanity Fair writer himself ... he also adds a Paul Finebaum observation:
"After four hours of talking with Kiffin, I’m stumped: Is he endearingly sincere or so full of shit that it’s an art form?"
“I first met him in 2009, and I can’t decide either,” says Paul Finebaum, an ESPN college football expert who has tangled often with the coach. “Lane Kiffin is an introvert and he’s a drama queen. He’s sincere and he doesn’t get enough credit for his acting ability"
Money has ruined college football
There's no place like Ole Miss. That can be a good thing or that can be a bad thing. It depends on who's telling it and who's listening. Lane knows.
Anyone remember the crazy blonde in movie 'fatal attraction"?
So he is at the crazy point of boiling the bunny rabbit..
Time to look into a restraining order on the cra cra blonde..
Lane’s mother is probably the only person who’s ever loved him. Everyone else that pretends, just like him for his money.
Wife got tired of checking the mail, so she just moved back in.
As I have stated before, Kif is a good coach (great offensive play caller), but is not a good person. In fact, he can be a child. At Ole Miss, Kiffin worked with The Grove Collective (NIL organization at Ole Miss) to secure recruits both high school and transfers. Both the Executive Director of the GC Walker Jones and an Executive Board Member have each said Kiffin never brought this up in the 6 years he was there, and Kiffin complained about everything from the crowd size, stadium size, and everything else. And he has been asked by other journalists to name names. So believe what you will. No one has had more to overcome with its past than Ole Miss for sure, but no school has collectively worked harder to overcome its past. Just me, but I attribute this to Trinidad Chambliss being in Vanity Fair last week, and Kiffin needing something this week to make him the center of attention, which is the only place he likes to be...you know, Planet Kiftonite. Anyway, that's my opinion. Glad he is yours now, @Kingfish. #HottyToddy
My favorite college football team is whoevers playin LSU😜
The problem is his "hat."
Narcissitic personality disorder… Much appreciated in the good ole USA
Speaking of danger to potential players, Baton Rouge is 6th in the nation in murders per capita - 20x that of Oxford- with 45 murders per 100k. Lane better be worried about what momma thinks about BR.
Just like it has with politics, except one can actually affect your life.
The perfect outlet for this cretin. Vanity.
I guess Kiffin hadn’t seen his name in the news recently, so he had to do something it.
The only color that matters is a nice shade of NIL green.
What drives everyone crazy about Kiffin's antics is that sometimes his insights are genius level.....but then they're overshadowed by his attempts to be hip for the younger crowds or maybe his over-priviledged children, which he acts like as well.
In this case.....the issues being danced around regarding Oxford, MS are the blatant, in-your-face racism that IS their golden goose within the State of Mississippi - and either you support it with a wink, nod, smile - or you recoil by the arrogance of the racism that's in the all pervasive moniker they're so desperately trying to blend with "athletics" so they don't have to get rid of it. Kiffin (and many others) experienced first hand the church supported sanctimonious duplicity that accepts billions of dollars leveraged off a blatantly racist yet cheered "name".
He knows what bullshit artists all the supporters of Oxford et al actually are, without having to say it. It's a delusional cult, and anyone with a brain knows it.
I don’t feel sorry for Ole Miss. This is what they signed up for when they hired Kiffin. If they thought they could were snowflakes and this time was different, that’s on them. It’s also what LSU signed up for and Kiffin at LSU will also likely end similarly badly. It’s who Kiffin is. Enjoy it while you can but eventually he always flakes out, recants everything nice he said about you and tells everyone you’re horrible. It’s like dating a middle schooler.
He is just like Hugh Freeze wanting publicity. Notice how the good coaches go about their business and don’t constantly stir things up.
No, sir! It’s more entertaining than ever!!
Who would have thought that ole miss would beat Georgia OR Indiana could thrash poor bama?
And the eventual Kiffin-lsu divorce will be awesome theatre. Can’t wait for the season
They have been trying to get rid of "Ole Miss" that's why Kiffen and Co. rolled out "Sip." I'm seeing more SIP stuff now than Ole Miss.
Given enough time, any topic in the US will at some point devolve to race.
Sure hate that the segregationists in Lafayette County are gnashing their teeth at their former coach.
He’s just a troll who likes to trash. Glad he quit boozing though. But appears he passed on that gene
Lane is such a good. LSU gets the tigers from the civil war… do you Google thing, Lane. And stop trolling
A narcissist
Paul... it is the later. He is full of Shit. He is really loading his wagon at LSU. This will be his last head coaching gig, and I'll put money on it crashing and burning within 5 years. Probably due to a scandal instead of losing on the field. But agree he will not win a natty unless the football power brokers like ESPN decide they want him to have one.
Come on folks. Kiffin is a legend.......in his own mind.
Pure BS from a psychotic personality. Maybe the truth about how and where and at whose expense he "quit drinking" should be told.
I can't imagine comparing Oxford, which is a college town of 27,448 that has a white majority (64%) and growing population that isn't in a metro area, to Baton Rouge which is a majority African American town of 218,223 which is declining in a metro area of 888,699. There are other stats parents and their offspring students compare, like the curriculum choices, graduation rates, cost of housing, travel costs and crime rates. One size doesn't fit all. Football and the football coach aren't everything for every family. But, frankly, as someone who didn't go to either school, I don't think coaches have nearly as much clout in these times at any school when players get "paid". It's money, honey. And, money is ruining college sports! At best they are semi-pro and sadly the value of a free college education isn't ( but still should be) a major consideration. Knowledge lasts much longer. One day, athletes will get to be OLD if they are lucky.
Whatever happened to the good ole days when Ole Miss could count on men with real character....true gentlemen like Hugh Freeze. ...ole times there are not forgotten, look away, look away...
As an LSU alum, I talk with friends who have moved out of Baton Rouge to Ascension Parish, south of East Baton Rouge Parish because of the crime and the schools. Just like folks moving to Madison and Rankin Counties. Also, many are sending their children to other colleges, including Ole Miss, instead of LSU. Kiffin must have missed the memo.
I hope Lane lose all his money and has to get a real job working for a job that pays 30K a year without health benefits - Micah Gober
He has one goal. He wants people to talk about him. He wins.
Thanks to TOPS, LSU loses good students to out of state schools because it screws them on scholarships. One friend complained about how his son went to Bama because while his son had a stellar high school record from a very good school, LSU offered him nothing while Bama gave him a full ride. I hear this over and over.
Let him keep bumping his gums. This turd is soft.....like the taco runs. These swamp thugs down in BR are gonna eat his lunch and will have no respect for him. IF he wins one down there it will be a rigged one.
Lane Kiffin is laying it on a little thick.
He knew exactly where Oxford, Mississippi was when he took the job, and he had no problem cashing Ole Miss checks while winning games and cashing in on the brand. Acting shocked now feels a lot like a coach discovering water is wet.
And let's not pretend Louisiana is some post-racial paradise. Baton Rouge has its own long and complicated history with segregation, inequality, and racial tension. Mississippi doesn't have a monopoly on that.
That said, the reason this story spread like wildfire is because it touches a nerve. Mississippi still carries a national reputation tied to racism, underinvestment, and resistance to change. Folks get defensive, but the real question is why that image remains so easy to believe.
You can be annoyed with Kiffin's opportunism and still admit he's poking at a very real branding problem this state has never fully addressed.
Kiffin can't let go of OM. Move on dude.
KF, I've been told the same thing.
And now that the VRA has been gutted - expect zero black athletes at any SEC school.
Ole Miss 2019 “He may be a fool, but he’s our fool.”
LSU 2025 “He may be a fool, but he’s our fool.”
When you have Ole Miss as the nick name of your university (the Ole Miss is what they used to call the plantation owner's wife) that kind of says it all to me.
They were sure on the lane train for years! He was the best thing ever ! They thought he would stay at ole Miss cause he had changed ! Then he’s the devil they said ! 🤪🤪🤪
5:25 a.m., If you actually want to know what you're talking about, listen to the interview Coach Yo did with Stephen A. Smith:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ISx7t_7FwI&t=206s
Some things will never change. Just move on and respect the man's opinion. Everyone has their own opinion. Some recruits just didn't want to play under that(Ole Miss) name.
Don't vote your lunch money on it.
