A preliminary was supposed to be held for Cardarow Harden yesterday in Hinds County Court. Harden stands accused of committing not one but two murders in the last year. Does anyone want to guess what happened?
JPD arrested Harden on May 12. The police affidavit accuses Harden of killing Michael Cannon on October 5, 2025. Jackson Municipal Court Judge Jeff Reynolds denied bond for the defendant. Judge Reynolds' order states Harden "was already out on bond for murder" and is "an extreme danger to the citizens" of Jackson and Hinds County.
Hinds County Court Judge Johnny McDaniels scheduled a preliminary hearing for Harden yesterday. Unfortunately, the JPD detective did not show up for court. Judge McDaniels continued the hearing to June 2 and did not set bond for Harden. The victim's mother, Rene Shakespeare, was obviously not happy with the failure of JPD to take care of business.
JPD arrested Harden in July 2025 for the 2024 murder of Marquiez Scott. The homicide took place near the intersection of Highway 80 and J.R. Lynch Sweet. Jackson Municipal Court Judge Lilli Bass set his bond at $1 million and transferred the case to Hinds County Court.
The police allege Harden made the murder a family affair as his son, Cardarow Harden, Jr., participated in the murder as well along with Mario Brown. The Court gave a million dollar bond to Brown and $250,000 to Junior.
Harden has not been indicted for the homicide. The District Attorney's Office said it has not received the file from JPD even though he was arrested nearly a year ago.

The chief needs to do another press conference I guess. How pathetic JpD is. They’re not respected by anyone
Hey Josh, Jackson is rising.
The chief is over her head. She maybe a good coach but no good players
I think you're all forgetting the part where "The District Attorney's Office said...". There ain't no weight there either, in case you need to be reminded.
Amateur hour.
Keystone cops.
4-11? Really? What’s up with the murdering midgets?
Jackson’s issues simply will not be repaired until a few thousand people move back. Capitol PD have made such a big difference in safety in their district. Now is the time.
@8:52 I don't want, I NEED a lot of what you are smoking.
Hmmm...a bit to unpack. Innocent until proven guilty, of course. But arrested for one and then another murder. It certainly seems a reasonable suggestion that Cardarow just ain't living life on the, er, non-murdering side of the line. I base this upon the near-dearth of innocent, random, and just-plain-folks arrested for even a single murder, much less two, in the Jackson metro region.
If you are wondering if JPD and Jackson will survive - I beg you to try this test. Call JPD precinct! They will not and have not answered my call in over 20 tries! I left a voicemail with my name and number. Proof that Jackson is long gone.
Chief PhD sure has proven to be effective at Horhnswoggling.
@7:59 - Please explain your post.
Genetics.
If you are 4'-11" & 170lbs, (picture Gerald Nadler) life might be all about suspenders, looking up at others and eating to compensate. But killing to compensate? I saw a doctor yesterday who is about 6'-7" and very fit, has an excellent grasp of responsibility and communication, yet visually has to talk down to staff and patients. He will never murder.
Someone took a bribe to lose the paperwork.

JPD is too disorganized to perform for a bribe. Go watch the booking area and see about 8 cop-clerks walking in overlapping circles, carrying papers, having short conversations with each other, as if they are on camera, trying to look busy. It is commonplace for them not to get data and arresting officers to the prosecutor in time for court.
For a minute it looked like JPD was getting it together under Sheriff Tyree Jones.
Then it fell right back apart when the new chief was selected.
So….is homicide allowed in Jackson now? Man, the law that is enforced in the rest of the state is not recognized by JPD. Well, it’s a free for all everyone…Jackson is open game.
Is this some of that restorative justice the Chief brought to town?
It's sad but it does feel as if things are becoming unhinged. At least let the morbidly obese officers patrol the neighborhoods and call for backup when needed.
How embarrassing for Dr Chief and Horne.
I mean it should be, but I am fairly certain they are not bothered in the least.
So. Double killer is the subject. Good job, Chief. You sure are making a difference......
Yet she was quick to tout to the TV Newsers just a week or so ago JPD's rate at solving murders since she came on board.
I think there is a reason she negotiated a severance payment into her contract. Horhn hired her to take the crime focus off of him and she said, 'sure, but when I'm run out of this dysfunctional city you are going to owe me for taking all that flak'.
Because when she's booted from Jackson her days as a chief are also done.
Mr. Harden has been investing funds for a long time to be able to produce such a bond. I wonder what his ockapachun was.
Becoming? They are unhinged. We are all seeing the truth about Jackson and JPD. We just have to pretend none of it is as bad as it really is. So, let’s continue on the path of Jackson is making a comeback people. Denying the truth always works out in the end.
