The Empire Strikes Back

Poking the bear means sometimes the bear pokes back and poke back the bear did as Jackson Academy struck back at Carolyn and Jason Voyles last week in Hinds County Court.

The couple sued the school  and Headmaster Edward Wettach in Hinds County Circuit Court in January.  charging the defendants terminated their son's enrollment because the father blew the whistle on alleged "recruiting" of public school athletes for sports.  However,   Jackson Academy said not so fast, my friend as it filed a motion to compel arbitration that dished some dirt on the Voyles while rebutting their claims.

The plaintiff's son started attending Jackson Academy in 2014 in K-4. He was a rising sophomore after the 2023-2024 school year and played on the baseball team. Mr. and Mrs. Voyles signed a re-enrollment contract in May 2025.

The complaint claims JA started "recruiting" athletes from other schools to play in sports at the school. Such recruiting is allegedly banned by the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools.

Several Clinton High School football players transferred to Jackson Academy last year and started on the football team.  The football team won the MAIS State Championship.*

A concerned Jason Voyles compiled a pdf document of 11 student-athletes from Clinton, Madison Central, Pearl, and Northwest Rankin that JA allegedly recruited to participate in sports for the 2025-26 school year.  Mr. Voyles alleges only one of the 13 students who enrolled in the upper class this school year was not an athlete.

Mr. Voyles shared the list with two other JA students.  Of course, once something is shared, it is going to get shared again as happened here.

Unfortunately for the Voyles family, that little bit of sharing drew the ire of Jackson Academy (allegedly). The new Headmaster, Eddie Wettech, requested a meeting with the Voyles three days later.  The complaint claims Mr. Wettech informed the parents he was kicking their son out of the only school he had ever known:

18. On June 9, 2025, Jason, Carolyn, Eddie, and a board member met in Eddie's office. According to Eddie, Jackson Academy had decided to unenroll the Voyles family, including C.V. from the school.

19. Eddie claimed ""the amount of negativity"" caused by the pdf was ""just unacceptable and extreme."" When Carolyn asked Eddie to identify any factual inaccuracies with the pdf, Eddie responded: ""I am not dealing with facts."

21. And it was the facts-not Jason's actions-that sparked the negative backlash that Jackson Academy felt. The facts of Jackson Academy's illegal recruiting demonstrated just how far it had strayed from its mission. Rather than inspiring and equipping "each student" for success, Jackson Academy actively poached rosters of nearby schools so it could win more games. This harms Jackson Academy's students who have devoted their time and loyalty to the school and who, because of Jackson Academy's actions, have fewer athletic slots for which to compete....

The complaint charged JA with breach of contract and sought repayment of 11 years of tuition as well as damages.

Jackson Academy filed a motion to compel arbitration on January 30.  The school's enrollment agreement, signed by the Voyles, states any disputes must be resolved through arbitration.  The school's contract states:

Any and all disputes of any type whatsoever between Jackson Academy, parents/guardians, and/or student shall be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the Federal Arbitration Act,.... Parents/guardians and/or students expressly waive their right to a trial by jury.

The memo argues the arbitration clause applies to the Headmaster as well since he was acting within his capacity as an employee of the school.  JA accuses the plaintiffs of including Wettech as a defendant so it can get around the arbitration clause.

After enduring weeks of negative publicity, the school could not resist the chance to drag the plaintiffs through some mud as it made its public case in the motion to compel arbitration.

Jackson Academy claimed it was justified in expelling young Voyles as his parents repeatedly tried to damage the school through "false claims, rumor, innuendo, and harassment."  The supporting memorandum alleges:

In the spring of 2025, Jason Voyles suggested that JA had used the funds previously received from Yates not to make facilities improvements, but rather to pay public school students as an enrollment enticement or to help fund their tuition. The Voyles had no factual basis for the suggestion. To ease their concern, the Voyles were permitted to review invoices and other financial information showing how the Yates contribution was spent. The demonstration did not satisfy the Voyles, who continued to harass various members of the school staff, administration, and JA’s Board of Trustees.
A meeting was held with the previous headmaster on May 9:

During the meeting on May 9, 2025, the Voyles, and Mr. Voyles in particular, exhibited hostile, antagonizing and aggressive behavior, prompting JA staff to inquire about shouting and loud noises. Mr. (Palmer) Kennedy forcefully denied the Voyles’ accusations and explained that while they couldn’t provide specific accounting information pertaining to students, new transfer seniors were not eligible for tuition assistance so they could be assured that those students were not receiving any assistance from the school. Following the meeting, the Voyles requested access to the school’s by-laws and non-public accounting information, and they continued their complaints of perceived “illegal recruiting” improprieties and an asserted lack of transparency from the administration.

Jackson Academy addresses the issue of "discounts" for transfers:

Still unsatisfied, the Voyles made additional false accusations, this time accusing JA of recruiting prospective students through promises of “tuition discounts” which the Voyles had alleged to have significantly increased. JA does not offer or provide direct payments or tuition discounts as an inducement to attend, transfer, or participate in sports, and no student attends JA for free. JA also does not offer athletic scholarships or lower its academic standards for the sake of athletics. The only scholarships available are endowed scholarships for current JA students who have attended JA in the previous year or longer. In short, the Voyles’ allegations that JA was offering prospective public school transfers assistance beyond what was available to other students was unfounded and false, and Mr. Kennedy demonstrated that to the Voyles.

Indeed, the schools auditor' told the Voyles tuition assistance had actually decreased.  The school claimed Mrs. Voyles requested the names of new students for the upcoming school year in May.  JA refused to provide the information.  The defendants state Mr. Voyles sent a letter warning of JA's "continued recruitment of public school athletes" that was causing "long-term damage" to the Board of Trustees.

The memo includes the contents of an email Carolyn Voyles sent on May 22, 2025:

My senior year of high school we had a white homecoming queen and a black homecoming queen. Our black homecoming queen had 2 children. At one time we had so many fights, they took the silverware out of the cafeteria. In my senior English class, a very pregnant girl sitting by me went into labor. Many children received free lunch every day, and no one really discussed colleges or careers after high school. The glass windows in our trophy cases packed full of championship trophies were shattered by fights over and over. I know of a handful of kids that went on to college, and I only keep up with a few from my class. I have never been back since graduation day. My senior year of high school we had a white homecoming queen and a black homecoming queen. Our black homecoming queen had 2 children. I know of a handful of kids that went on to college, and I only keep up with a few from my class. I have never been back since graduation day.

The school inferred Mrs. Voyles was out of touch with reality as it dished more dirt on her:

Contrasting her experience of public school “culture” with that of her husband’s positive experience of attending JA, Carolyn suggested that JA was on a path of self-destruction caused by the school’s acceptance of bad elements. Carolyn expressed baseless concerns that students transferring from public school had suppressed JA’s academic standing. In reality, JA’s academic performance has increased over the time that the Voyles had been associated with the school. JA’s average ACT score for graduating students has been on an overall upward trend over the past five years. In fact, the top 50% of JA’s 2025 graduating class had an average ACT score of 31.3.

However, the defendant was not through with  rubbing the plaintiff's nose in her own email:

Have you been to a public school? Have you seen the environment our coaches are unfairly plucking these kids out of and then expecting them to transform to a totally new culture with totally different expectations and rules? Kids in public schools are going through metal detectors. Are we going to add metal detectors if we continue to recruit students from public high schools without knowing much about their personal beliefs? My son’s safety is important, and we count on JA to make sure his school is safe.

Jackson Academy said Mrs. Voyles was "off-base" and her remarks were "offensive."

Matters came to a head on June 9 with the Voyles met with Wettech.  Mr. Voyles admitted creating the flyer that provided the names and other information about transferring students who just happened to be athletes.  The school terminated their son's enrollment.

The memo takes the Voyles to task for recording the conversations, pointing out such recording is prohibited unless all parties agree to allow it.

The case is assigned to Hinds County Court Judge Yemi Kings.

Posted below: Memorandum in support of motion to compel, motion to compel, complaint, exhibit - contract.

*Mississippi Scoreboard reported in August 2025:

Jackson Academy hasn’t won a state football championship since a three-peat from 2009 to 2011. But the Raiders – led by four players, each with multiple SEC offers – are one of the favorites to bring home the gold this season.
Offensive lineman Caden Moss (No. 1 rated player in Mississippi and No. 4 rated offensive lineman in the country in the Class of 2026 by 247 Sports), defensive lineman and Tennessee commitment Dereon Albert (No. 8 player in Mississippi and No. 28 defensive tackle in the Class of 2026), linebacker and Tennessee commitment TJ White (No. 3 player in Mississippi and No. 5 linebacker in the country in the Class of 2026), and wide receiver and North Carolina commitment O’Mari Johnson (rated No. 17 player in Mississippi and No. 35 athlete in the country) lead the charge for the Raiders.
No school in Mississippi has three players in the Top 20 in the Class of 2026 like JA and only defending MHSAA Class 7A state champion Tupelo has three in the Top 24.

JA picked up more firepower this summer with the addition of six transfers, five from MHSAA Class 7A Clinton High, including last year’s starting quarterback and leading tackler, and one from Madison-Ridgeland Academy, who are all expected to make contributions to the already talented roster.

Senior Josef Walker (photo below) - Clinton’s starting quarterback last season – is rated as the No. 7 dual threat quarterback in Mississippi in the Class of 2026 by qbhitlist.com. Walker passed for 1,193 yards and six touchdowns and ran for 198 yards and two TDs. He passed for 387 yards and three TDs in a 65-62 upset of previously undefeated Brandon last season.
Sophomore linebacker Adam Alexander led Clinton with 93 tackles last season as a freshman.
Senior wide receiver Jaydann Hollins – who has offers from Georgia State and Samford – had 1,048 all-purpose yards, including 881 receiving yards and 11 TDs. He was one of the top receivers in MHSAA Class 7A last season.
Senior running back Aaric Beasley was the second leader rusher at Clinton last season with 332 yards and four TDs.
Junior outside linebacker Jaden Walker is the brother of Josef Walker.
In addition to the Clinton five, senior tight end-linebacker Fletcher Cox comes over to JA from MRA.
“We are trying to build a state championship football program here at JA,” said second-year JA head coach David Duggan, who has 38 years of experience as a college assistant coach. “We want to have a program where kids have a positive experience and learn about football and life, and we feel like we can do it better than anyone in the Metro Jackson area. All these kids that have come over from Clinton and MRA are great kids, and they will be outstanding student athletes at JA. We have a good foundation, and these players are going to help us be even better
“Josef is in competition at quarterback with three other players, Pruett James, who started last season, Carter Mathison, who started as a sophomore and part of last season, and Peyton Smith, who is a sophomore coming up from our ninth grade from last season.
“Jaydann is very fast, explosive and very dynamic with the ball in his hands. Aaric is built similar to Kingston Mays, who played running back for us last year. Adam’s uncle, Bryant Shaw, played for me in NFL Europe and found out I was coaching at JA. Adam had a great freshman season last year. Fletcher is tough and physical and is going to help us.”
JA has 10 returning starters from last year’s team, which finished 9-4 record and the MAIS Class 6A semifinals last season.
Former Ole Miss All-SEC and NFL wide receiver Shay Hodge has been promoted to JA’s offensive coordinator when Chase Alkire left to take a head coaching job in Jacksonville, Fla. Rob Triplett has moved up from middle school head coach to running backs coach on the high school team.

JA opens the season Aug. 29 with a road trip to Oak Forest, La. The Raiders’ first home game is Sept. 5 against Leake Academy and talented quarterback George Wilcox, who passed for Mississippi best 3,623 yards and 41 TDs last season.

The new recruits paid off as the Jackson Academy Raiders marched through the season 11-1, demolishing the competition as it won the  MAIS 4A State Football Champeenship.  JA averaged 41 points per game.  It avenged its only loss to MRA (35-24) by thrashing MRA 35-0 in the playoffs.  Hartsfield barely put up a fight as it went down 50-14 in the final.  The Clinton transfers led the team throughout the season.

Arbitration is all well and good until it fails. Then it goes to the courts. Discovery will be interesting.

JA is terrified of under oath depositions. Terrified.

Anonymous said...

Yikes.
I bet the Yates-Voyles fam are not happy today.

Ouch!

Anonymous said...

Form of pleadings seem not to matter anymore. Rule 10 (b).

Anonymous said...

The Voyles are probably regretting their vindictive behavior right now. Surely their attorney that decided to take this case told them that their embarrassing texts, emails, and behavior were going to come out for the world to see.

Anonymous said...

So this Voyles lady is apparently a terrible human being. Her comments are disgusting.

Anonymous said...

Certainly this makes the Voyles look bad, and rightfully so. However, I believe JA recruited, and you won't convince me otherwise. I don't believe those players just "showed up to enroll". I find that impossible to believe.

Mandatory binding arbitration should be illegal. Hopefully the legislature will take up this issue sometime.

Anonymous said...

That's a pretty slimy move to air that email. But these are the same guys that represent Phil Bryant, so it comes as no surprise.

I can't conceive of any way that email would be admissible in evidence. The only reason to attach it to the motion is to poison the well and punish the plaintiffs, and their kid by extension, again.

She's not wrong in her fears of loosening standards

You missed one of the most telling parts. Carolyn's email said that Wettach had a "fiduciary duty and obligation to lead the school in the direction it was created for." We all know the reason Prep and JA were created... Carolyn would clearly like JA to be an all white institution. Can't believe she put all that in an email. No wonder the school parted ways with them. Yikes.

Anonymous said...

Proof that money can buy you appreciation, but not class! Well deserved explusion.

Anonymous said...

JA may have recruited, but if a private donor paid the tuition, everyone can kick rocks on that aspect of it. Seems that is possibly the case here?

Anonymous said...

She sounds like every old white lady I know including my own mother.

Honestly, JA and the Voyles seem to deserve each other. The fact that the family place such value upon success in athletics, removes any sympathy I have for them.

Ditto for JA. Shouldn't they be more worried about directing their young charges toward amassing personal wealth (my kids started as preteens) and moving into lucrative careers?

As a young thing, I was taken under the wing of a clique, at our first college, who'd graduated Greenville's Washington School (arguably, the Delta's premier private school). They, like me, had just accidentally become Economics majors - an accident which saved us all. At that expensive private day school, none of them had received ANY career guidance.

"Our Valedictorian went into Interior Design. Maybe she INHERITED or MARRIED some money, and that might've saved her. She could do math! She was beautiful! She could've been anything. But all the school cared about, was having a good football team. So, not knowing how little she'd make, she ended-up in that poverty profession, because there was zero discussion of career trajectories and how they'd impact life expectations. And she's only the most glaring example. A glance at the moneybegging poo publications they send us - who's doing what, among the alums, is like a who's-who of LOSERS. Lots of Education majors - not many docs or attorneys or even bank presidents - despite our high ACT scores and family resources." (not one from my group, has bothered to even RESPOND to homecoming/reunion invites - ever. "Let their precious football people do that. They can DIE, for all I care.")

But I have to ask: is there not pressure for private schools to maintain a certain percentage of minorities? Is athletics an EXCUSE for recruiting minorities? Is that why they do it: in response to pressures they're not allowed to talk about? Personally, I'd be looking for the poor-but-studious minority kids - the ones in danger of being bullied-to-death, rather than recruiting the bullying athletes. Mais à chacun son goût ...

OK, somebody tell me what the mother said that was inaccurate . Every one of yall know she is right unless you've been living under a rock. Bunch of fake ass hypocrites.

@11:22 AM - "Carolyn would clearly like JA to be an all white institution" - I missed that part of the email because there are plenty of affluent black families and they send their kids to private school. Assuming otherwise is actually pretty racist. In fact, 13.4% of the enrollment is black. She was stating a fact about what happened during her senior year, and sometimes the truth is uncomfortable, but sticking your head in the sand isn't the answer.

Anonymous said...

I don't think either party will win in the court of public opinion - but that definitely makes for great viewing on our part!!

Anonymous said...

Voyles Family, don't be bringing this messiness anywhere down Lakeland Drive.

Anonymous said...

Why wouldn’t JA share Carolyn’s letter? You fault them for sharing it while apparently excusing the racism and bigotry rampant within in. That says a lot about you.

Anonymous said...

In this situation, both parties can be both right & wrong at the same time.

Anonymous said...

JA can say no one gets tuition discounts or assistance because technically, the tuition for these recruits are paid in full. The question is, who is paying it? That is what the Yates are getting at.

Anonymous said...

Not a lawyer, but pro tip. Don't put anything in writing that you don't want aired out in public and that can hurt your standing.

Anonymous said...

Of course it is admissible.

Anonymous said...

JA's response with the email has nothing to do with the case at bar, and I'm sure JA's attorney knows that. Ain't going to help their defense other than try to smear the Voyles personally. Their claim that these 'students' (scholars in JPS speak) aren't receiving financial support FROM THE SCHOOL may be true, kinda like OM's collective isn't the one paying Chambliss $6M. There has been little question that a (or maybe more than one) JA 'friend' is paying each of these 'students' tuition, as well as paying for mama's apartment in NE Jackson and I'm sure a few other asset appreciation items. And, the supporter is doing this with JA's permission and at JA's coaching staff's direction,

While JA is wanting to smear Carolyn Voyles as best they can with their "look over here, don't look over there" approach, the end result is still that they (1) broke all MSAIA rules in their recruiting (and just as with the Trump administration lovlies that say "well, what about xxx and they did it defense) the fact that other schools are doing it doesn't matter. Nobody has brought those cases forward as has been done here and those schools didn't brag about it ahead of time; and (2) they expelled the kid for something that doesn't fit their rules. Like it or not, they screwed up and some of their important board members know it. I imagine Ed ain't going to be around long once this school year is over, among other fallout from this exercise.

"...the top 50% of JA’s 2025 graduating class had an average ACT score of 31.3" is a well-crafted statistic

Carolyn’s letter speaks for itself. Neither JA nor its attorneys need to work real hard to “smear” her. She’s handled that alone.

In all of this bullcrap and allegations made against JA's possible recruitment of top athletes I don't see any credible allegations or proof that the "recruits" are not academically able. No would say a damn thing if JA recruited the top academically gifted students from surrounding schools and they raised JA's academic rating. Of course such recruits would presumably be white and that would be alright. JA raised it's athletic standards while maintaining it's academics? Impossible! Especially since the "recruits" are black. Jeeez.

If a donor or rich relative pays your tuition whose business is that? What rule is being bent? The question of recruitment is relative. I have seen Prep advertise on TV. Isn't that recruiting? As a private school you want to maintain your enrollment while bringing in the best students you can get. And yes, those students tuition must be paid, by someone. If some students we invite to our school happen to be great athletes HooRay! If your kid can't cut the mustard go somewhere else!

Anonymous said...

Makes one wonder why JA does not recruit those smart kids. Clinton has multiple 36 ACT's every year. So do other schools in the metro. Seems like locking up all of the local 36 ACT students would be more elite than winning an MAIS football playoff.

Based upon a careful review of Carolyn Yates Voyles' email, it is my humble opinion that she is WILDLY racist.

Anonymous said...

Prep probably advertises, in order to preclude discrimination suits. The ONLY reason for "inclusiveness" is to head-off accusations of discrimination. As a minority-with-money, I can assure you that we already know which institutions we want to gate-crash. We don't need any stinkin' ads. And frankly, I resent ads and initiatives inviting minorities less worthy than ourselves. If we'd wanted to be around THEM, we wouldn't have worked and studied so hard.

The BIG QUESTION is: Does it matter who pays the tuition as long it is not JA? If Mr. Big Bucks pays the tuition for a student that he is not related to is that considered recruiting? In that example, JA didn’t pay the tuition for the student or give them a discount. The tuition was paid in full by Mr. Big Bucks.

It's moments like these when Mississippi must wallow in it's own racist character. That's the elephant in the room. In other states private schools have been known for athletic recruitment for decades and many are among the academic elite institutions but they don't have the history of being established FOR the purpose of segregation like our Mississippi schools. We don't give up easy. It's our redneck legacy.

Clearly JA's response was written specifically for the media - they knew what they were doing when they cherry picked Mrs. Voyles's email to fit their narrative and create this little smear campaign. I look forward to the Voyles's response and I have a feeling the full email will be forthcoming to put it all into context. I guess we know why people don't speak up over on Sheffield and JA's hamster wheel of a Board continues to let things fly - you might end up like the Voyles - kicked out of school and all confidential matters blasted out for all the world to see. JA looks weak and is grasping at straws to turn the case in their favor. Discovery will be interesting. At the end of the day, JA made a big mistake by kicking out a good kid who's parents just wanted to help make positive change. It's unfortunate for all involved.

Anonymous said...

Correct. Amen. Thank you. Absolutely. 1:52 you are RIGHT ON.

Anonymous said...

@1:52 Of course it was written for the media. The media was the entire purpose of the Voyles' lawsuit. They, and certainly Grafton Bragg, knew there was an arbitration agreement, but the filed in state court anyways so that the media could report all the salacious allegations. JA wanted to respond before it gets sent to private arbitration, and good for them.

I think we all want to see the full email, though I cannot fathom how it could vindicate Mrs. Voyles.

Kingfish said...

Usually, such emails are also attached as exhibits. At least that's what I've seen in most cases where they are cited in a filing.

@1:52 Ending up like the Voyles will never be a concern of mine because 1. I’m not going to waste my time creating a PDF about a bunch of kids, 2. I’m not going to send a racially charged email to the school, and 3. I’m not going to file a frivolous lawsuit against them. I’m sure I speak for most people “on Sheffield.” But we can agree on one thing - I also look forward to the Voyles’s response. I’m curious to see how they attempt to recover from that devastating right hook JA just landed!

We can send our kids to any private school we so choose. With this temper tantrum by the school, I can assure you JA won't even be considered.
You can dislike this family and what they believe all you want. The fact remains that they paid good money to the school for several years just to have the school drag their names through the mud like this. I don't know this family or anything about them. However, if a school like JA will stoop to this level over this lawsuit, they'll do it again in the future to me or someone else when things don't go their way.
I hope anyone considering where to spend their money for education takes a long look at this fiasco and who these people are.

Yes, how DARE JA turn this woman’s own written words against her! Make her racist admission public for the community to see? You’re right, I’d much rather send my kid to a school that protects its racist parents. Keeps their remarks hush hush.

The only people terrified is the racist ass Voyles family. Entitlement loses to what’s right. Go JA!!!
Oh by the way, kids been transferring from public to private for years.
I feel bad for the kid because now the kid is Blackballed. Another example of Adults ruining kids life.

@2:31 So JA just randomly chose a family out of a hat to publicly humiliate? Is that what you’re implying? If you’re a decent person not hell bent on destroying the school I don’t think you will have much to worry about. That’s not really a high bar to clear.

Look out everybody!!! This guy can send his kids to any private school he so chooses!

Careful buddy, don’t go full Jason Voyles on us. Cue “don’t you know who I am?”

Family and kids are sponsored at all Private schools not just JA. A sponsoring a kid or family is not Illegal.

And WILDLY correct, @1:05 PM

Truth be racis' and shi'

Racist vs Non-Racist people.

No doubt these people have had one hell of a Monday. I am sure they, along with others in their entitled little circle, will spend hours upon hours rage typing away on this blog and other forums trying to convince everyone that they’ve been victimized and wronged. They’ll go to sleep at night and rise in the morning consumed by anger which most likely won’t subside for years, if ever. It’s really sad. Entitlement and narcissism at this level is a sickness for which there is no cure.

Well done, JA. I am glad you hit back. I just pray these people don’t end up on Lakeland Drive.

Wow. It’s 2026 and we still have people that think so backwards. Basically saying we paid tuition for 10 years and it’s our son’s turn to play. He shouldn’t have to compete with Black kids. Our culture is for white kids with money. The truth that no one wants to talk about is that JA got Black baseball players now. Her son didn’t play football, it was never about the football recruits. He can’t get on the field in baseball and the guy that is starting at shortstop is a Black Saint Andrews transfer.

Waaay under 70 here and not "appalled". I guess you're in a corner , clutching your pearls at the nerve of someone telling the truth. I live in the real world.

It wouldn't be the first.

JA loses regardless of the outcome.
They’ve cheapened their brand. Let’s be honest - the trajectory is not good. Sadly, they should’ve put their efforts and finances into obtaining acreage for a new campus. They’ve got the alumni to make that happen if properly motivated. Allowing this issue to get to this point, indicates poor leadership. If paid student athletes are going to be the norm, plan for it, including dealing with legitimate concerns of your customer. Due to ham fisted handling, JA loses.

Voyles: I have a secret recording of our meeting where my husband says “Don’t you know who I am?”

JA: Well, we do have several emails that you sent that lets us know exactly who you are. But we won’t share if you don’t.

Clearly?

ALL of the local private schools have Booster Clubs that they use to raise money used for “scholarships” and other things, such as facilities. That way the schools can say they don’t provide them.

I understand where the lady is coming from, after all JA was founded so the white wealthy families didn't have to go to school with blacks.

Anonymous said...

@3:10 why did C James leave the board. Heard they packed up and left JA

Anonymous said...

So let me get this straight.

This seg academy tries for years to market itself as not a seg academy. Then, at the slightest provocation, they voluntarily publish emails conclusively showing that, yes, in fact the best connected, wealthiest parents at our school do have total contempt for your child if they are "from the wrong side of town"? All in a case where the relevant legal answer is just "this is covered by an arbitration clause"?

I'd assume we're just looking at bad lawyers here, but maybe not: in my experience it's not uncommon for NE Jackson moneyed types force their lawyers to include gratuitous sniping in filings, even when it results in collateral self-harm.

She didn't post anything racist. She simply stated what she experienced in high school and said wants her kids to have a better experience than she had. Isn't that we all want for our kids? And since when did stating facts become racist? Some of you softies can call it racist all you want but that doesn't make it racist.

And don't ignore the fact that public schools don't like the private schools recruiting their best players just like 98% of private school parents don't like it.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
