Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement yesterday.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II announced today that a Hinds County jury has found Marco Lewis guilty of three counts: Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
On March 4, 2022, Jackson Police Department officers were dispatched to 106 Larson Street in response to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Julian Hill suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body and Marlon Daniels, who had been shot in the leg. A witness identified Lewis as the shooter, stating that he fled the scene in a vehicle that was located in the Waffle House parking lot. Evidence later confirmed that Lewis opened fire on the victims following a verbal altercation. Officers located Lewis shortly after the incident and took him into custody.Judge Debra Gibbs sentenced Lewis to 30 years for count I, attempted murder; 20 years for count two, aggravated assault; and 10 years for count three, felon in possession of a firearm. Counts II and III are to run consecutively to count I and concurrently with one another. Judge Gibbs also sentenced the defendant as a 99-19-81 habitual offender. This would put him as having to serve a total sentence of 50 years day-for-day.
District Attorney Owens emphasized the importance of the jury’s decision in promoting
community safety:
“Today’s verdict brings justice to the victims of this violent encounter and reaffirms our
commitment to holding dangerous offenders accountable. Gun violence driven by senseless
disputes puts entire neighborhoods at risk, and this conviction makes our community safer. We
will continue to stand with victims and ensure that justice is served.”

50 years day-for-day. Guess we'll see ya on the flip side.
Judge Gibbs is now the standard bearer for a Greater Jackson.
Can we re-elect Jody O at this point? Just send Chuckway Ludumbles to jail.
Jody working like a fire under his butt-
Nah. He's only doing his job to make himself look better for his trial. I'm looking forward for him to go to Club Fed.
You're kidding, right? He's running the same game Bailey is. All these press releases to 'act" like doing a good job.
10:33 re-elect him to what? The DA job is just a side hustle, as he stated in his own words. It's a cover for his main pursuits, which are criminal enterprises.
10:33 No! I was thinking why wasn't he suspended until trial. Dont care what he's doing now, the tapes reveal the truth.
Based on all of his recent press releases you would think that Jody is running for office, but in reality he is just running from the law.
Wow. That's quite a sentence in the Mississippi justice system. Even more so Hinds County. Good.
Now that the train of bribes isn't fueling his lifestyle, Owens is working for a living. If we could just get the Feds to go after our AG, maybe she would get busy too.
