Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith issued the following statement yesterday.
U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement marking the Senate confirmation of Mississippi Supreme Court Justice James D. Maxwell II of Oxford to serve as a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi:
“I’m extremely pleased with the confirmation of Justice James Maxwell to serve as a U.S. District Court judge. As he has done on the Mississippi Supreme Court and throughout his career as a jurist, James will continue to exemplify a dedication to careful, principled jurisprudence and to upholding the rule of law. I believe he will serve the Northern District of Mississippi and our nation with distinction.”
Maxwell was confirmed on a 51-46 vote. His elevation followed the confirmation Tuesday morning of Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Robert P. Chamberlin of Hernando to also serve on the court.
President Trump nominated Maxwell and Chamberlin to be federal judges in August and the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced the nominees for Senate consideration in November following a September confirmation hearing for both Mississippi judges.

Disagree with Life long positions.
They are both think they are brilliant. They are anything but brilliant. Now we are stuck with these two buffoons for life.
So two vacancies on MS Sup Ct? Open application process for appointment? Special election(s)?
Winning-
It is not a lifelong appointment 8:48. Duh. Keep up. Damn.
If Trump is a lifelong President, maybe. Otherwise it is NOT lifelong.
Reading comprehension is your downfall. Read again slowly, and retake Civics in Junior High School.
@10:12, What are you talking about? These judges will have tenure until they want to fully retire unless they are impeached.
@10:15, Maxwell and Chamberlain are current justices on the Mississippi Supreme Court. When they assume the federal bench, that will leave two vacancies on the state supreme court. Do you know how those vacancies will be filled, Dr. Civics?
@10:13, do you think federal district judges leave the bench when their appointing presidents leave office? Judge Wingate was appointed by Ronald Reagan FFS
Federal Judges “sitteth at the right hand” and are virtually bulletproof. Lifetime appointment.
to 848....well then you better get to work on amending article 3 of the united states constitution .
in the meantime you will always be able to vote out or vote in a new county coroner.
"They are both think they are brilliant."
Uhhhh....Sure thing coming from someone who responds like that.
Both suckled and weaned on the plantation, Haley and Feels( Minnie Pearl too)appointments, good old boy domination continues, predictable and inclusive…
A press release from Cindy? It's not even an election year for her.
You have no clue who I am. For your information, I am a stable genius!
At least she communicates. Can't say the same for Warmonger Wicker.
All but three districts have lifetime-appointed Article III judges. Judges serve 10-year terms in three territorial districts: the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
