Licking Their Wounds

The Mississippi Republican Party issued the following statement.

Yesterday’s special election results were disappointing, but not totally unexpected, as Republicans were the underdogs in these gerrymandered districts drawn by an unelected court pursuant to a misapplied federal statute that has been weaponized by interest groups. The Democrats’ wins yesterday were the equivalent of scoring points in the fourth quarter while losing the game in a blowout. It may make them feel better, but it doesn’t change the conservative direction or policies in our state legislature led by Republicans.

While we respect the role of the courts, we will nonetheless keep fighting—through legislation and, when necessary, litigation—for fair, compact election districts that keep communities together and let voters, not judges, decide elections.

I’m proud of our candidates, their campaigns, the countless volunteers, elected officials, state Republican leadership and the Mississippi Republican Party for pouring untold resources, countless hours, and significant manpower into these races.

In light of yesterday’s results, our party will be redoubling our efforts to learn from these races and come back even stronger by recruiting outstanding candidates, expanding our outreach, and earning the trust and vote of every citizen in every corner of this state.

The Blue Wave struck the Sip

All the districts were Democratic so what do you expect. Promising more stuff is what got us to this place where 40 Million get SNAP benefits or about 20% of the population, and those people are complaining that they will have to do some work or volunteer. In Switzerland you work if you receive any government benefits unless a certain Swiss certified doctor certifies that you can't work due to illness, cripple etc. Those people who get the benefits are sweeping streets, cleaning parks, emptying public garbage bins etc. There are only 2.8% of the country receiving any benefits.
Think about what you citizens are leaving your children, no future due to poor work habits and the idea that the government will give it to them.

You magatards are clearly running scared. Keep coping and denying. The blue tidal wave is coming. Followed by unprecedented lawfare and EO reversal. #resist #NoKings

The entitled serial grifter Johnny Dupree is back representing a large portion of Hattiesburg in the Senate. He will look to fellow serial grifter Kenny Fairley to instruct his every move. Hooray.

Orange albatross even affected MS.

5:24 now that was mean! Kenneth Fairley runs NOTHING in the pine belt. We have really good representation in Hattiesburg and the Pine Belt from the Mayor on. Get Kenny out of your head! Dang we done forgot about his existence until you brought him up.

It’s an off cycle election. The seemingly democratic / pinko / commie sweep, will only empower the Republican base (and donations) for a substantial turn out for the midterms.

As of this moment, the orange man is still your president, so suck it up buttercup.

I'm looking forward to Republicans redistricting Bennie T. out of a job.

What is lawfare ?
Sounds like you're out shrooms & acid.

These wins came in districts where the court created districts. The other elections around the country were a repudiation of the far right and TACO

Having been a long-time card-carrying member of the Mississippi Republican Party, I find it maddening to read this press releases which seems to follow in the mold of party's leader currently occupying the White House who wants to blame any failure at the ballot box on others despite what actually may be the case.

This press release states - clearly and simply - that these 'gerrymandered districts' were drawn by an unelected court.

BULLSHIT!

Redrawing the districts was mandated by a court (and true, at the federal level the courts [judges] are unelected - as all judges should be] but the lines of these districts were drawn by the Mississippi State Legislature which is under the control without question by the party. To make such an outright lie in their press release in an attempt to cover up for the terrible day that we suffered at the polls frankly p**ses me off but it doesn't surprise me when our party has to emulate our leader from DC and blame all the failures on others - and when possible, the courts.

While the original gerrymandering was done by the same legislature in a way to provide the likelihood of a republican (or someone at least carrying the banner) to win, they were drawn to limit the voting presence of the black population in these areas of the state. OK, no problem there, everybody has been doing that for decades. But the courts pointed out that this was a violation of Section 2 of the VRA and told them to go back and try again. Nothing new there either.

So yes. We took a beating yesterday. Partly due to not having the strongest candidate in some of these newly drawn districts, partly probably due to the current state of the national economy that despite the promises made and the high-pitched rhetoric, still isn't good.

BUT, don't try to sugarcoat the failure with such an outright lie. The district lines were not drawn by an "unelected court" but by our elected legislators. Let's try to grow up and quit playing the same narcacisist game that eminates from DC.

It’s the economy stupid! DJT stated he would bring down prices on DAY ONE, and make America affordable again. Instead, prices on most everything has risen. The American People can only absorb so much. We look to The President to lead the Country to better places, and DJT has not done this.

When you really look at it the New Jersey, New York and Virginia victories aren’t what they seem. Jersey and New York normally are landslides for Democrats. Not so this time. It was a true battle and no matter what the Godless media and Left Dems spout they know it’s a fact. Youngkin in Va was a one off. Virginia has been purple for a while-goofball lefties on par with Marin county loons in California have occupied Va for decades. Stay the course-the midterms are going to put the Dems in the world of the “Whig” party-obsolete ineffective woke absent any moral compass and GONE! As to the Mississippi legislature-they are feckless, aimless, leaderless and inept. The current Mississippi leadership is like a ship without a Captain or crew. Sadly they think they matter. They should be proud of themselves for giving us the gift of medical marijuana and phony tax cuts. If the average voter could see how they operate on a daily basis they would storm the Capitol in a manner mimicking “Bastille Day”! The RINOS and phonies in the Ms legislature are without a doubt a disgrace! Pay attention people and stop voting for these losers! If you think Mississippi matters in DC just know that when the VP was in Ms for the Ole Miss appearance at the Turning Point rally the Gov was cut from the VP motorcade. What’s that tell us?!?! Meanwhile Shad tags another county employee for embezzling $500. Finally for the legislative husbands and wives who stay at home during the upcoming session just be proud to know what bastions of integrity you send to Jackson!

Oh, please. This is the same exhausted, spittle-flecked rant we’ve been hearing since 2016, equal parts persecution complex and political amnesia. You call Democrats “godless” while worshipping at the altar of grievance, pretending moral decay is a partisan invention.

You call Virginia “occupied by lefty loons”; translation: voters who don’t buy the culture-war snake oil anymore. New Jersey and New York? You’re bragging that Democrats barely didn’t win by 20 points instead of 30. That’s not a comeback; that’s statistical hospice care.

And this idea that Republicans are about to rise like some Whig Party phoenix? Be serious. Your party’s eating itself alive over whether it wants to govern or just rage-post about pronouns. “Stay the course”? Sure if the course is electoral extinction.

As for Mississippi, you’re right about one thing: the state’s leadership is inept, but not because they’re “RINOs.” It’s because they’ve been running a 21st-century state with a 19th-century worldview. You want reform? Try literacy, infrastructure, and a tax policy that isn’t performance art for talk radio.

So by all means, keep howling about the moral collapse of civilization. The rest of us will be over here, actually living in it.

Yesterday was a butt kicking. However, I like the Republican cope. Simple minds

OK 7:45, 7:46 and especially 8:01 - this press release put out by the MISSISSIPPI Republican Party dealt with the Mississippi legislative elections, not the New Jersey, New York City or (the one you failed to include, because it didn't fit your narrative) the Virginia elections. Or the California defeat of DJT's attempt to avoid impeachment by the House in 2027, or the Pennsylvania Supreme Court elections. This was about the loss of Senate and House seats in Mississippi, something that the party is privately licking its wounds over but trying to put a positive spin on the changing attitude. But I'm sure the MAGA crowd will appreciate your chiming in and trying to deflate the failure by reinflating the balloon of hope and trust.

"these gerrymandered districts drawn by an unelected court pursuant to a misapplied federal statute that has been weaponized by interest groups."

Because the maps drawn by Republicans are so fair, right??

And what's with the catty, bitchy tone? These guys are all talking like mean girls in high school, sniping at each other on social media.

There are two parties in America: the Evil Party and the Stupid Party.
If only we could follow George Washington’s advice and be rid of both of you.

@6:37pm - Yep, Madison County is lost. When its citizens choose an uneducated coonass transplant from LA south of I-10 over a lifelong local conservative attorney for a judge position, might as well hang it up. God help anyone that has to go in front of her. At least you can appeal to a real court and start over when she botches your case, but it will cost you.

It really isn’t that complicated one party is for murdering babies up until birth, mutilating and grooming kids, high taxes, high crime, importing, feeding, housing and giving health care to illegal aliens over Americans, no water, rewarding laziness and punishing tax payers. The other side isn’t.

They just think this was a loss. Wait until these ‘tards push through their school choice and alienate Brandon and Pisgah parents.

We should have outlawed gerrymandering long ago, but please put aside party loyalty for a minute and look up " most gerrymandered states" and the history of U.S. gerrymandering. Ever wonder why one Southern state has a GOP controlled state legislature, only 1 Democrat in Congress but has Democratic Governors every year?
Want to tell me how any state gets the people of any state has their interests well served when their elected officials are a minority of the state population?
It began in 1812 when a Massachusetts came up with it.

Anonymous said...

I hope all of you will watch Ken Burns " Revolution". Unfortunately, our Revolution and the War of 1812 gets shortened and glossed over in high school and even in college. Economic history is very instructive as well but even MBA's no longer get much of that. Can't do it in the 6 week "executive MBA" or even the now 1 year instead of 2 MBA. I'm thinking our President did the executive course given his poorly thought through tariffs.

Anonymous said...

I’m old enough to remember when the Republican Party stood for free-market economics and the rule of law.

Anonymous said...

@7:18am - “Our President” doesn’t have an MBA. He cheated his way through undergrad, rode daddy’s coattails in business, got an enormous inheritance, and bankrupted/failed his way upwards. I will give him this though, he’s one of the most successful conman in American history.

7:23 PM, yep, it is the economy stupid. Problem is this country’s electorate has never been more so-called educated, while at the same time, never more incredibly ignorant.

The same electorate lacking the simple ability to understand why we have the inflation, including starter home prices up as much as 50% as they were pre-Biden, is too dumb to understand that unwinding, what may end up being irreparable damages caused by the Democrat Party’s Biden years, is too dumb to understand that it can’t be unwound overnight.

But you keep voting Democrat, keep watching the debt pile up, and keep falling for the scam that’s it all of the boomers fault, as if all boomers voted for these crime, criminal and free shit Democrats.

Which state?

Randy Tucker's support of her is concerning.

Yea, a blue cities voting Democrats in. There is no way that would never happen. It’s all about power to the Demotards, they have proven that over and over. One good silver lining in all of this is that Pelosi is not seeking re-election. She sees the writing on the wall and doesn’t want to be remembered as part of the crash Democrats have coming.

Anonymous said...

Democrats can't even tell you what a woman is and you want them in charge?

Anonymous said...

Funny, I thought you were talking about Biden and Harris. I actually got an MBA and I can tell you, Democrats, historically, have more negative returns in the stock market than Republicans. But, keep believing that Democrats are the people going do all these amazing things. In fact, what have they done for the average American over the last 16 yrs in power?

Anonymous said...

What lawfare are you talking about? I haven’t seen anything lately that even hints at that.

Anonymous said...

I am conservative, but when Republican leadership continues to push legislation like school choice which virtually no taxpayer wants, they will continue to weaken their influence in many parts of Mississippi. I hope they quit pushing national agendas and focus on what is good for Mississippi.

Anonymous said...

@7:09 —

Do you refer to Kentucky? Bashear has followed a pretty long line of GOP governors, I’m pretty sure.

And you’re right about Massachusetts…it should be pronounced “GARY-mandering.”

It's just the way of the world.

A few weeks ago, the White House Press Secretary was asked a simple question in regard to who chose the location for a proposed meeting with Trump and Putin. Karoline Leavitt responded with the answer of "Your mom did".

It is very easy to often times lose sight of the fact that these are adults who are running our government. I have not heard a "Yo Momma" joke since high school, but here we have the face and voice of the United States of America getting one in....

The courts merely un-gerrymandered the districts that the R's had gerrymandered. Quit whining and take your lickin' like man!

Anonymous said...

I’d rather the democrats give out free crap to the poor and middle class than the Republicans who give it to the billionaires. Maybe Trump could stop buying private jets for Kristi Noem and himself for a few months if you’re so worried about the debt. Or maybe skip the $500 million ballroom or stop Kash Patel from using private jets to go see his way too young girlfriend. Keep voting in Epstein’s client list and we’ll keep seeing America getting worse.

@ November 5, 2025 at 4:52 PM still haven't figured out the Democrats, the same Klan party from the 1800's reinvented slavery in the form of The New Deal eh? Unfortunately, you'll still be where you are 50 years from now, closet Uncle Toms leading who figured it out and taking from y'all while pointing at "whitey". And no, I didn't vote for Trump either time nor will I ever, but I'm a realist with sound logic. The corporations and lobbyist are your true enemy....

Mike Hurst prepared that press release.....and he's far more credible in his understanding of present day political realities than most.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
