Things are still up in the air up in Oxford.  Ross Dellenger tweeted:

Should’ve told him to make a decision weeks ago in private. Should’ve gotten the North Texas coach off to Oklahoma State if decided at the time to leave.

They should just give the gig to Judge or Golding. People want someone in charge of a football program that were a part of the program when it was successful. Ole Miss is currently successful so promote from within.

Go for maybe the James Madison coach if Judge and Golding leave.

Ole Miss will prob give some firm a million dollars to do what I just said, and somehow Sexton will make money in the process.

What a diva. And all the Ole Miss and LSU fans waiting with bated breath on his decision use the chair in the corner of the hotel room. UF fans are quite the quiet bunch this week once penny loafers pulled the plug on him.

He feels guilty about leaving a team he built….it’s natural. Shut up and get in your uhaul

How many players and coaches will he take with him.? Will LSU have to pay his buy out if OM doesn’t let him finish the season.

This is really getting absurd. The NCAA should do everyone a favor and rein in this Wild West shit.

This moment will be known for the following: i.) the last vestiges of what was previously known as college football where coaches are now as big or bigger divas than players ii.) the point where normal college fans start paying a boatload more across the board (someone has to pay for all this) or iii.) the end of colleges and universities have complete control over their football program.

They were waiting to see if UMiss backed into the SEC Championship Game or not. It didn’t happen (thank you, Alabama!), so now they can announce that he’s gone.

Or it gives the powers that be a look at the chaos that will occur if they don't make some changes. I suspect Saban's suggestions on fixing the calendar to remove the incentives for these early firings and poachings will be seriously looked at. No one likes this. No one.

I can’t believe you losers think this shit is important. Maybe you should get a real life.

Just think of the ROI from the people that poured huge sums of money into the grove collective or any other pay for play programs and you have a great season and you don’t get to go to the SEC championship, your coach skips town, and the majority of your roster leaves for the same school your coach, who your financial contributions helped make his resume to get hired away, and because of his dog and pony show, you’re now late to the dance on the coaching hire.

I quit caring about college football once the NIL era came about. I’m not helping bank roll this fiasco. I like spending my money on tangible assets and not prima donna coaches and players.

I've been to Baton Rouge several times over the years, and other parts of Louisiana. Hey- it is a great state. But I would never live there.

Back in the early 70's I was a member of the Ole Miss Band. We went to LSU twice. Both times were horrendous. Meaning LSU fans throwing liquor bottles wildly in any direction. And student drunks trying to attack the band.
If Kiffy wants to go down there- good riddance. Those people are just different .

The sports media LOVE this KF.

The Chancellor , if he is actually in change of the University , should have days ago told LK , make up your decision now - we don't need your drama. We've given you everything you wanted. If you don't like it - get the hell out of here .
That's what we need in a Chancellor.

There’s no way UM can let Kiffin coach its football team while he is simultaneously responsible for recruiting players and hiring coaching staff for LSU.

If Kiffin goes to LSU, he can’t coach Ole Miss during the playoffs. Period. That would be a huge conflict of interests.

While commenting on this two days ago, Nick Saban apparently forgot that he, himself, refused to let Kiffin coach in a national championship game, after Kiffin took the job at FAU.

But that was all of eight years ago, so maybe Saban just forgot about it. Or maybe he’s just full of sh*t and seeking forgiveness from LSU and/or carrying water for Gov. Landry.

Watched football tonight in mixed crowd. All the ole miss fans were all in for auburn, so they could go to the sec championship game. All the ole miss fans also admitted that their coach is a troll.

Sec football, in a nutshell.

ratchet hoe behavior suits him in batin ruge

I left Miss for Baton Rouge, it was the best choice for me and my family. It will be for the Kiffens too!

Football is as important to Mississippians as spending TANF money on washed up athletes. $90 million for a football coach. Now that explains some messed up priorities. Kiffin is going to the place where he is most likely to earn the most money and earn a championship. U guys act like he loves the state. I know Louisiana runs neck to neck with us in having nothing but at least they have more than Mississippi. What a joke!

All of that good will he built up with the documentary….gone. He’s walking away from a team going into the playoffs.

Mark my words, it won’t be 24 months before his name comes up for another job and he’ll play this game again.

@10:12 PM - the NCAA can’t do anything about this because it has become a powerless entity. It's title is lofty and promising but in reality it is a sham, an empty suit, just like the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame.

Anonymous said...

The barn door is wide open, once they started NIL, the portal and paying players there is absolutely no loyalty. It’s only going to get worse, enjoy the chaos.

Anonymous said...

The speculation was media generated. A good coach will get offers. He would always have stayed to coach his team to the end of the season. No good coach would make an announcement or abandon his team before the last game was decided. That he's leaving has more than a little to do with the way Mississippians have bashed him for the crime of not being their team's coach. And, once again, we look like petty idiots to the entire country!

Anonymous said...

This isn’t important but LSU has a lot of money to pay. Hope Lane can deliver. Hope they make Whitt Weeks the AD.

Anonymous said...

I just wish some Mississippians in and out of our media wouldn't make us again look like a state of people with no class. Coaches get to decide their fate . If they leave after being ridiculed and disparaged all citizen by people in the state, it's no surprise that they don't feel welcomed anymore and leave. If State gets a great coach, I suspect the Southern and Ole Miss dropouts will try to run him out too.

College football (P4) is a complete clownshow. Embarrassingly bad system.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations 11:10. Amazing how retarded college sports makes people.

The vast majority of those saying “we” never made the team much less played one down on the field for the school their obsessed with, do not know one player personally, and if you made those that never even attended the university leave stadium on game day, a hot dog vendor couldn’t make a decent profit with the remaining fans.

Funny funny stuff.

When Kiffin was hired, a friend said this won’t end well. I told him that he was wrong. I need to apologize to him.

Anonymous said...

He did a better than average job while he was in Oxford, but, like every good coach that passes our way, someone is always ready to outbid us. As a fan, the trick is never to expect to much or get caught up in the hoopla. Just party in the Grove with your friends & family, and enjoy the good years and the wins when they come around - especially the years when we beat State.

Ole Miss was actually right there with the money from what I understand. Recruiting played a big role in this. The problem is Ms doesn't stack up to La in terms of high school talent. Ms's first dozen players are the match of anyone in the country but after that there is a drop-off. Louisiana had so much talent that LSU and Saban at Bama made a living off of it. At Ole Miss, Kiffin has to live and die by the portal just as Sherill lived and died by Jucos.

Yep LSU swinging wood and slapping down Mississippi .

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
