Kiffin Says No Ultimatum

Ole Miss Head Football Coach Lane Kiffin said the university did not give him an ultimatum on whether he would remain.  Coach Kiffin made the remark on the Pat McAfee Show this morning.

This so-called "ultimatum" was always BS. If there was actually an ultimatum, and Kiffin didn't respond by the deadline, what would Ole Miss do, fire Kiffin? That's ridiculous. Some LSU fan, frustrated by his school's dysfunctional football program made this up, and writers who wanted to see their names in print, irresponsibly spread the silly idea.

The real question is why would any decent person ever be on THAT show with THAT guy?

1:50 pm. Easy answer. If Kiffin didn't respond by the deadline, then the contract extension with a raise would have been dropped. Yes, Kiffin could have stayed on at OM, but he would be giving up the "x" million dollar jump in salary he was using this back-and-forth to negotiate.

True, he wouldn't be fired, he would still be coaching - but the purpose of his entire game (and that of his agent) was to get more money, wherever that may be.

OM smartly said "stop" to playing that game; you want our money, say so and let the team know. You want to go somewhere else, say so and we will be able to get into the search and hire of a new coach while the choices are still there.

The fact that Kiffin "SAID" there was no ultimatum might be true, but as the one that he emulates in looks and actions (the younger Bill Clinton) once said: It depends on what your definition of is is. In this case, it depends on what your definition of 'ultimatum' is; and for Keith Carter, I'd bet there is not a Webster's question involved.

I'd put the ultimatum rumor coming from the swamp. Those people on social media are all but naming their new born Lane or Kiffin. They think they can just will him to come to Gainesville and coming up with some wild reasons. All but "he wants to ride a shark naked", which sadly wouldn't be a first down there.

Kiffin should take the yellow brick road, where ever it leads, he earned it.

"And then you play the Egg Bowl. And go dominate that."
No matter what he decides to do, that's the next step and expectation. State fan, I know you're waiting with bated breath to say "I told you so!" Don't forget you've won exactly one game since September 20th.....don't worry about us. You're next.

Kiffin has complex psyche issues. Watch him. He can't make eye contact. He jerks his head from side to side while talking. He rolls his eyes inappropriately. Half his sentences are nonsense.

But he is Saint Lane of the Parish of Lafitte. He knows when he has it made. He can hike his leg in the endzone on November 28 and the faithful will still toast him in communion.

You really have to love Joey Freshwater. Have to admit I wrote him off after Al Davis had his say.

Please people. Coach Kiffin has his son, daughter, mother, former wife and brother & family all living in Oxford that Kiffin must consider. Plus his players & all members of the football staff that will be affected. So please don’t fret that Kiffin hasn’t decided his future on your time line.

I was there when they gave it to him….and he looked up and said “I’ll be your huckleberry “

I think with all the turmoil around both Florida and LSU being there would make a tough job worse. Kiffin is building Ole Miss into a national contender while Rebel fans are willing to give him the time. I'm not usually a Ole Miss fan but I would like to see him stay.

Please 6:23. Lane Kiffin’s ego stays first. He could care less about his family as long as he thinks he’s relevant. They all take a backseat to what he sees in the mirror.

Tonight on the ESPN CFP program, when discussing Ole Miss and their very comfortable #6 position, they laughed and said Ole Miss is playing Mississippi State in 2 weeks and if it wasn’t for the Kiffin talk, there would no be nothing to talk about. From the mouths of the experts….

So sick of all these empty-headed sports talkers with their clickbait headlines followed by absolutely no substantial information. But hey, I guess everyone has to make a living, even if it's nothing more than vacuous bloviation.

Sorry Kingfish, I love Kiffin and hope he stays, but I call BS. He may call it something else, but we can not allow him to coach the team past the Egg Bowl unless he signs the extension at Ole Miss. I certainly believe AD Keith Carter and Chancellor Boyce gave him the directive/ultimatum/information.

I hate that there is a former wife mentioned. Lane’s 1st lesson to his students should be God & family 1st. Hope & pray he can reconcile with his wife for Christmas & family. Merry Christmas Lane!

Agreed. How on earth he has a "show" is a mystery.

Florida, LSU, and Auburn have been meat grinders for coaches for twenty years and produced inconsistent records for their programs. Had it not been for the extraordinary competence of Saban, Alabama would be in the same situation. The problem is that the programs are largely supported by followers (not alumni) who are drawn to the teams for reasons totally unrelated to academic association. The programs are heavily influenced by "big" donors and supporters who try to run the programs for their ego, not for the good of the schools or their athletic programs. Everything about the University of Mississippi sports efforts and their supporters has improved over the last few years until the "atmosphere" of the school and the sports teams is the envy of most of the rest of the country, IMO. Oxford has become the fantasia of what people covet for a college town and community. I cannot believe that any thinking individual would leave the panacea of the coaching situation that has developed around Kiffen to go to the hell holes of a LSU or Florida. But then, I have been married to the same lady for almost 52 years. Maybe I have a misguided view of life.

The University of Northern Mississippi sold its soul to Satan just to be a first-rank, big-name college football power. And it hasn’t happened and, as UNM’s Athletic Department and fan-bois cast about for anything else they have left to sell Satan, it’s not going to happen aside from a few good years here and there owing to a weak schedule and a good year or two of recruiting. UNM’s glory days, when The Little Sisters of the Poor in leather helmets and no face masks could have been national contenders, well, those days are long gone and they ain’t comin’ back.

As a New Mexico native, to read UNM mentioned in conjunction with football prowess almost elicited a spit take. Well played, @8:27.

if the beautiful people of the SEC spent as much time raising their kid, paying the mortgage, investing their money in something other than overpriced cars that loose 30

@8:27 Your envy is showing. Catch up if you can.....

if the beautiful people of the SEC spent their time
raising the kid
paying the mortgage
not purchasing overpriced new cars that loose 30% of the value first day out
B/T W....a car is not an investment,

posing as big shots at their tailgating parties where they blow the mortgage payment

betting on college football

pretending to be sophomores in college

obsessing over some

pretty boy coach who will be just another nobody in a few years,
there would not be nearly as many of them standing in the line down at federal bankruptcy court.

the eternal sophomores will never figure this out.

no one earns living obsessing over college football anymore that people earn living obsession over donald trump.

grow up

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
