Leon Seal was in Rankin County Court last week for some mess about some mess. Seal is well known to the Pearl police and Rankin County criminal justice system as he has been repeatedly arrested over the last few years. Some consider him a civil rights activist, targeted by the police while others consider him a troublemaker who well, just can't stay out of trouble.
Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow held an indigency hearing for Seal on November 18. Pearl police arrested Seal on June 26 and charged him with trespassing, false report of a crime to a law enforcement officer, and disobeying a police officer/failure to comply. Pearl Municipal Court Judge Richard Redfern found Seal guilty of all charges and sentenced him to a $500 fine and six months in jail but suspended two months of the jail sentence.
Seal appealed his convictions to Rankin County Court but must pay a cost bond of $1,223 before the appeal can proceed. Claiming indigency, Seal asked the Court to waive the bond. Judge Morrow held a hearing to determine whether Seal was indeed indigent.
Seal said he was not working. He claimed to be a mechanic but said he had not worked for nearly two months and had applied for disability. Upon questioning by Judge Morrow, Seal admitted his wife had a full-time job, he and his wife owned a house (with a mortgage), and the family owned four vehicles.
Judge Morrow ruled Seal did not qualify for a public defender but gave him an additional thirty days to pay the cost bond or else his appeal would fail.

What’s this guy in jail for?
1:50 we know that reading is an acquired skill, but now we a have a new reading gate in the state that has proven to be quite successful. Many schools have 'learning counselors' that are helping those that didn't do well when trying to get out of the third grade due to their failure to comprehend the concept.
Realize you probably are no longer in one of Rankin's fine schools today, but maybe they could allow you to monitor one of their classes and benefit from some of their volunteer counselors to help you achieve this wonderful skill.
Then you wouldn't have to ask others questions like this that are answered clearly and specifically in the post your question is attached to. Try it out - you'll like it.
